It's seem that Hayao Miyazaki, retired and picking up trash from the street does not care over the fact that his 'Spirited Away' box office record has been overtaking by the 'demon slayer' movie

quoting Miyazaki on the yahoo japan news site

I guess the meme was real after all

It's probably the contrarian in me but I really dislike Miyazaki both as a person and as a creator. His films look good and do a great job in making the audience feel specific emotions, but never really held much of a deep ideas or messages. Plus idiotic anime fans basically ignore any other important manga creator just to suck up his dick.
The more I've heard about Miyazaki, the more I dislike him. An absent father who then poisoned his son's attempt to follow in his footsteps, his disdain for the medium that he made a career out of, and has expressed contempt of both fans and his peers. He comes across as a bitter, unpleasant person.

Satoshi Kon was better in his short career. Fight me.

On one hand, I thank Miyazaki for making me realize that anime movies made in the 80’s are far more superior than current day anime. But I’m surprised no one mentions how Miyazaki was always the type to not want to conform to society, regarding how he feels about today’s Japanese animation.

You can even ask the guy who helped popularize Evangelion to the world:

And that one time when someone asked him about Donald Trump while segueing into a question about Japanese military and Your Name:

The second one is a lot more hilarious than the first, since I never understood what manipulating tear-jerkers like Your Name had to do with Donald Trump winning a U.S. presidential election

Oh man, Fantastic Children. That show was certainly a trip. I wouldn't call it great, and it's hard for me to actually call it good. It almost felt like a fever dream when I watched it.

Maybe it was the dub that did that. I know we were talking about subs vs. dubs a few pages ago, but Amazing Kids' dub is pretty hilariously bad. I distinctly remember the king being ridiculously overacted, and plenty of other voices were their own flavor of corny. I guess it's worth a watch in that regard, because the story really wasn't anything to write home about, and from what I recall of the ending, it kinda fell flat and failed to deliver on basically any of the buildup.

So yeah, I dunno about the quality of any of the other shows here, but Incredible Juveniles' dub gives a fair amount of unintentional comedy. You might want to watch it at double speed or skip around though, because the pacing really drags throughout the series. And like I said, the plot's kinda meh so you're not missing much.

I read through the past 20 pages trying to find a recommendation, but I'm either retarded or illiterate and missed them. I need something light-hearted, as my usual Haruhi binge isn't cutting it right now.

Anime or Manga, something light-hearted slice of life would be good. I'm a bit of an old fag so anything newer than Haruhi should be good; I do keep up with Nagotoro and Uzaki though.

Anyone help me out, please?

Nerima Daikon Brothers.

I was wondering if Accel World is like Sword Art Online in that the later has decent looking games but the source material is shut or is not that in the case of the former?

Maybe Tsuritama. Just best friends and an alien overcoming their anxieties through fishing. It was supposed to have a second season /movie but neither of those happened.

Flying Witch, just friendly witches (plus normal people) and comfy farming life in northern Honshu.

No season 2 but the manga is ongoing.

I really enjoyed Hakumei and Mikochi. It's a slice of life about two tiny women living together in a fairy tale-esque world with talking animals. The ending theme is one of my fave anime ending themes out there too.

If I were to offer up a couple light-hearted sol not already mentioned it'd be Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge, Machikado Mazoku, Akagami no Shirayuki-hime, and Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou. I'd also recommend looking through Doga Kobo's catalogue since a lot of their shows are light-hearted sol and they're really good at getting the perfect comfy relaxing feel.

Personally, I've started watching a show called mewkledreamy (really bizarre name I know) that has been surprisingly fun and features some pretty great animation. I'm always surprised watching a series that is clearly marketed at a young demography having impressively good animation, a similar case is with most modern Precure series.

Nichijou AMVs make for some of the best damn AMVs out there, and yet I truly didn't care for the show itself when I watched things in their proper(?) context. Unless I was just completely spoiled by random clips and AMVs before getting around to it, I'm honestly convinced the show was made strictly to get the dank meme train running at full speed after everyone exhausted their Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star inventory. (Somehow, Daily Lives of High School Boys didn't provide such dank memes despite being hilarious.)

Does anyone know the name of an anime or manga where there is a powerful vampire queen who is hundreds of years old but she wants to kill herself so a guy turns her into a weak human child? Can't remember if it was specifically reincarnation.

I freaking love Machikado Mazoku.

I think you may be referring to Kizumonogatari though there are some small differences, so I'm not certain.

I think I'm mixing it up with another anime but the one I'm thinking of was known for a tragic backstory. The part that I remember most was turning her into a child and taking away her power so she can't kill herself.
