It's set to air sometime in 2021 but with how little gap there's been between the first two seasons airing it might come out in the spring season, hopefully it stays as good as the last two seasons.

Speaking a bit about the final episode for season two, it decided to end off with two major reveals that caught some anime only fans off guard. We have the reveal of Kureno having broken the curse a long time ago seemingly at random but deciding to remain out of feelings of guilt and Akito actually being a girl. I know people guessed at the second throughout the series given the hints but I remember it completely blindsided manga readers when it was revealed.

Greatly looking forward to the final season since it's covering the more intense part of the manga. So far the anime team hasn't let me down and has even added some nice anime original bits, I think they'll do the series closing justice.

More Fruit Baskets! Sheesh. They really are going all out on it. Glad they're going to hopefully do it right the second time.

Maybe we'll get Negima and Tsukihime redone too.

I think from the beginning they planned to do a full adaption of the manga, one of the benefits of adapting a complete manga, but I'm wondering if they're surprised at how well received its been. I'm also hoping that its success might entice studios to look into full adaptions of other completed works that had a previous anime when the work wasn't complete. Usually only happens when the series is going through an anniversary with the added publicity it brings, but sometimes studios don't acknowledge it or just hold a small celebration rather than any big announcements. My knowledge of Negima is lacking but isn't there a bunch of drama around that series with the author basically self cancelling in protest? I imagine the situation of the manga is a little messy. Tsukihime might receive an anime whenever the VN remake comes out since it'll generate buzz, my only knowledge of the series is from reading the manga for it but it was really enjoyable.

I'm holding out hope for Gundam F91 to get the full length anime it deserves announced next year given it'll be the 30th anniversary. Not much hope since it's late UC and Sunrise can't milk it for Zeon vs. Feddie wank, wish they'd try exploring late UC since there's a lot of interesting stuff hinted at. I'm getting a little tired of the endless Neo Neo Neo Neo Zeon vs. Feddie. *sigh*
 
Having finished torturing myself with animated subproducts I'm diving back to something that can only be described as "shit I saw and don't remember watching as a kid but still am interested in", Escaflowne. I fucking love the designs of the mecha, it's as if someone took Vampire Hunter D's design and decided to turn him into a giant robot, that's genius.

Truly, a story with no heroes. The Apollo 15 stamp incident raised such a stink that to this day, NASA astronauts aren't allowed to bring stamps into space (even if they collect stamps), this dumdum decides to do product placement for his friend's shirt business on global TV, and the shirt offends more asshats.

On the bright side, it seems they give the mission control crews mission-specific polo shirts now.
 
Re;Zero did a pretty fantastic job in making Echidna disturbing. Also I have no idea if they follow the LN anymore since this single season didn't advance the overall plot but dropped a ton of revelations.

Edit: Fugou Keiji Balance -UNLIMITED- also concluded. It's an okay show. It is pretty fun when it's character oriented rather than going into the rich guy's backstory that doesn't make any sense.

I finally got around to watching the Madoka Rebellion movie after spending the day marathoning the original series since I hadn't watched it since it aired. I'd heard the movie was dividing but I found it very good, maybe helped by my rewatch of the series making me enjoy Homura's character a lot more, which made me understand why she did certain things in Rebellion. No idea if I'm interested in any of the other Magica series besides if they end up doing anything more with the Madoka cast. I'm glad I ended up doing a rewatch, helped me appreciate the whole series a lot more than I previously did.

If anyone is looking to do a rewatch of the original series I highly recommend checking out Fancutfags release off nyaa as it pieces together the tv series with the first two recap movies. It features the nice animation of the movies while adding back some things that were cut from the TV series, apparently fixing the problem that the movies had where it felt like things were going way to fast while missing important details. They put a lot of work into the release, giving two different versions to pick from (TV vs. Movie Edition) with the ability to go into Marathon mode which skips things like openings and endings (unless it's important) along with the previews. Fair warning that you'll probably have to watch it through MPC-HC with the K-lite Mega Codec Pack for it to all work proper, had to switch from MPV to get it working smoothly. No idea how the experience would be for those new to the series, I watched the Movie Edition which was recommended for those that had already seen the series. They mention in the User Manual/FAQ that the TV Edition should be good for those that hadn't seen the series though:
TV Edition is our best attempt to stay 100% faithful to the original series while strictly improving it. It uses the exact same background music tracks as the original series, and it uses TV visuals in some scenes where the TV visuals are more normal looking. Movie Edition is our best attempt to make the experience even better by also including some of the new music tracks as well as some of the more creative visuals from the movies.

I'll also take this chance to share my favorite Madoka amv, don't think it spoils anything major but I'll still give a warning just in case.
 
Hau-au, I've finally have been able to start getting around to playing some visual novels for myself instead of watching YouTube play-throughs, and I'm starting off with Higurashi. Partly because it's to hype me up for the remake, and also because I want to see what the changes are from the original (though I think the play-through I saw years ago used the PS3 graphics patch?), and I almost forgot that Hou/Mangagamer had to use different tracks in some points because of licensing issues or something? I dunno, so when I'm not bouncing in my seat from the familiar tracks, I'm trying to take in the new tracks and am not feeling it as much. I think the script might also be a bit strange, but it's been years since I watched that one playlist, and the manga (much as I adore it) has different pacing/takes on the scenes, especially the game club scenes.

But yeah, been enjoying experiencing it for myself. I find the Steam achievements weird, though, like it's a kinetic sound novel, what'dya mean only 28% of players got [One Man's Trash] achievement?

So Fate is fully available on Steam? Sounds like it'll be more expensive than CLANNAD tbh, but I could try it out one day.

EDIT: So I guess I shouldn't be all that surprised that visual novels just aren't played much by Westerners, but you mean to tell me that only just under 20% of Steam players who downloaded the game finished Onikakushi-hen? Suggesting fewer and fewer players were able to go through the entire sound novel?

Honestly am just scratching my head over this lol. Higurashi only got put on Steam by popular demand, if I remember right. Unless fans are just picking-and-choosing their favorite arcs to play through or the newcomers are just too taken aback by the beginning to really get invested because ("I came for the horror and slaughtering of lolis, where's the horror and loli-killing? One star."), this is kinda nuts to me?

Nah, they'll just do Gundam F90 with the Zeon faction who live on Mars. If they ever do more late UC it'll be something to do with Crossbone Gundam since that manga always ranks highly in adaptions people want to see. And better late UC than another half-baked AU.
 
So I went to see the new 4K Akira remastering at one of my local theaters yesterday, and man, it looks better than ever. It was beautiful to see it up on the big screen, letting you see all the details crystal clear. And the soundtrack definitely benefits from a good surround sound system, especially the DUUUUN DUUUUUUUUN DUN DUN when Tetsuo's on the warpath. They were only showing the subbed version, which I didn't mind since I'd only ever seen it dubbed before, so that was a new experience for me too.

The ads I saw said that it was only playing yesterday, but apparently my theater's gonna show it for another week or so, probably because there's not much else to play at the moment. I'd recommend checking your theaters and catching it if you can. A classic that's always worth a rewatch.

Onikakushi is free. Also, the absolute achievement rate is a bad metric, you need to look at last achievement rate by first achievement rate. That number for Onikakushi isn't all that high either (30%), but the numbers for the paid chapters are higher (76, 82, 95 but it's short, 87, 88, 86, 74). The 6th chapter is where the first achievement rate jumps from 40% to 70%, which is probably related to sale patterns more than anything.

I bought 1-7 on GOG before 8 was released, finished them all, and I'm not going to play 8. Two of the four tolerable characters got done dirty by subsequent chapters and the plot is a scam (there's no answer to 3). I'm gonna stick with whatever positive impressions (chiefly from 3 and 5) I still have.
 
I've been trying to get into Visual Novels with stuff like Muv-Luv and Fruit of Grisaia.

It's just that they are so fricken long (50+ hours) that I tend to lose interest partway through.
 
Man, the new BnHA chapter really brought out the Deku haters.
