I dunno, I wandered into a B&N today just to see what they had on the shelves and found a surprisingly huge variety of manga. Obviously mostly incomplete, but a good mix of first volumes of currently popular titles like Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, OPM; classics like Death Note and FMA; well-known "adult" manga like Berserk, Pun-pun and 20th Century boys; and a ton of more niche stuff I've only heard of in passing if at all. And that's just the stuff they physically had on the shelves. While the english manga market is definitely small, I wouldn't say either that it's limited to "normie shit", just heavily dominated by it (...because guess what, popular shit's popular). It's not so bad to the point that the only manga you can easily acquire here are the big titles.

Maybe they're just being whiny about all the shounen titles that are physically available in the U.S., but that's the most dominant. Shoujo titles can be attacked as well if they're popular/over-exposed enough. I don't know where to find the thread to get a proper look at the guy's shelves, but they may be filled with newer releases than older out-of-print titles or may not be of a variety of genres.
But I could just be looking too deep and the board's just full of elites/jackasses who look down on you for not having the several volumes of 3x3 Eyes or sports manga like Initial D or Captain Tsubasa (Slam Dunk might be too mainstream).

My manga collection is mostly comedies and slice-of-life so while it's probably not what the 4chan guy was looking for, it is at least different from the people whose shelves are mainly full of action manga especially Shounen Jump titles.
I do have 18 volumes of one Shounen Jump manga but it's Kimagure Orange Road which isn't exactly the sort of manga westerners think of when they think of Shounen Jump.

I just finished watching Erased. Highly recommend it; great characters and story. I was really invested in it.

If you read farther into that thread there's actually quite a bit of level headed discussion among the trashtalk, still had the thread open if anyone wants to take a look.
I do notice on places like r/mangacollectors the problem they talk about where you'll see very similar collections from multiple different people, with the odd actually unique collections. There are several series that are almost constant inclusions in peoples collections, usually shounen.
Publishers aren't dumb (mostly) and can figure out what titles will probably bring in the most profit, meaning they'll want to put out similar titles. You'll sometimes have them taking risks that turn out okay, like Vertical's release of Gundam: Origin till the end, but a lot don't want to take that risk. Seven Seas tried putting out a Classic Collections line but that apparently sold like shit so they cancelled it, never got into the line myself because how they decided to release classic Devilman turned me off. If you look at the top manga on Mangadex you can typically get a feel for what publishers might release next since they no doubt keep tabs on popular pirate sites to check what might already have a sizable fanbase.
There's also the issue of the smaller boutique manga releases you basically have to stalk the publishers to even hear about, the get no where near the same level of buzz as whatever new title Viz is putting out. They're harder to find out about in the first place and really only publish niche titles for the most part.
I don't even know how I'd describe my manga collection, most is stuff I collected ages ago, haven't done much collecting in a bit due to the price. Last thing I added to my collection was the first Kitaro and the last several volumes of Devilman G. Don't really go out of my way to keep up to date with what's put out since I got up to date with HnK.

On the topic of manga collecting, anyone else genuinely prefer reading on paper? Maybe it's a scan quality thing, but I read the first chapter of Demon Slayer last night and was distinctly unimpressed with the art - but flipping through a physical volume today, I actually thought it looked completely fine. Maybe it's the slight difference in color - scans are usually pure greyscale while paper is sorta warmer yellowish, maybe it's the slight texture of the pages... I can't put my finger on what specifically it is that makes me prefer physical manga to scans. I also specifically prefer the small 5x7" tankoban volumes over hardcovers over hardcovers or omnibuses, they're pretty much the perfect size to hold up and read.
It's just too bad so many series are like 20+ volumes long (and thus very expensive) and don't come in box sets (or even just packaged together without a fancy cardboard case) meaning you have to hunt down individual volumes.

While I do read plenty of scans, I don't have a tablet, just a couple of laptops, so physical books are better for reading manga by default since the 16:10 (older MacBook Pro) and 16:9 (only slightly newer HP) aspect ratios of the screens means that I either have to scroll down every page (how I normally read scans, obviously) or I just read them zoomed out and pillarboxed in teeny-tiny eye-strain-o-vision if I don't care as much for the dialogue.

Any opinions on Fire Force? I'm a big fan of Soul Eater so I've been interested in FF bit I haven't really sat down to watch it yet. Is it worth watching? And has anyone read the manga? There was a big difference between the Soul Eater manga bad anime and I'm curious if FF will go the same way.

As someone anime only, I'd say it's pretty good. It's fun to watch, the characters are intriguing, there are some gags here & there. The animation is top notch. The story is also building the world gradually, but the story so far has been pretty good too.

isn't most stuff single page endless scroll? least that's how I was reading normal comics back then, and they have an even bigger format.
I still don't know if it's the tone, the overly obvious fake voice or just not being nip that turns me completely off from dubs. remember playing a kmmo a while back and couldn't even stand that subbed, maybe I'm just too used to moonspeak. doesn't help that most of the time it's sounds like low effort too, there's a reason seiyuu is a dedicated career path.

I know most of the scanlation sites give you the option of scrolling down one long page but I prefer single page view with clicking to go right (or left). I dunno why, it just feels more natural to me.

I won't decline your experience choice. But this is just really bad dub. I can speak from my own experience on this due to the fact that:

Monica only hit her peak in anime pre-2014 since she was a decent voice actress who had much better range. She sounds really bad here and trying too hard. I think her only good recent role was Mila from Fire Emblem only because she had to sound much more mature and wise, instead of trying to replicate her younger days.
It's a shame since I used to like her voicework, especially her portrayal of Stocking. This is of course ignoring her as a person cause I really lost much interest in the Weeb Wars drama but it did help me steer away from Funimation dubs.
Then again I guess this is natural given she was cursed by the root of all internet autism

Even without the controversies in play, the dub sounds half-assed. Like no one is giving any shits, and not in the good way.
Like, i'm still not sure why Funi thought to pick this up in the first place, but they really couldn't find a better voice actor than Monica "I married a manchild that argues with a trolling forum" Rial for Uzaki? Like I'm pretty sure the term 'audition' exists for this reason, and it's not like Funi's short on female actors.

Does anyone else have a really hard time with monthly release manga? I usually end up losing interest in them and forgetting about them.

Duranki (a manga made by the creator of Berserk and mostly drawn by his assistants) is a once-per-two-months manga and I looked forward for it every time... and then absolute madman went on a hiatus after SIX issues. Granted The Coof has probably killed most schedules this year so I wont deny that that's probably a major factor.
I think if you keep any sort of stable schedule most people will stick around but sparse updates will kill any interest for me too. I kept reading the One Punch Man webcomic and then the updates stopped dead in their tracks for months, and the webcomic looks like something you can draw in a weekend, after that I occasionally went "oh i should check up on it."
