Only for certain shows, lol. I don't like it when there's a bunch of action going on on-screen and the characters start talking, it forces me to either read the subtitles, look at the awesome action scene or skip back to watch the same scene again to see what I missed.

Speaking of dubs > subs, check out the dub of Monster when you have time (it's about 60 episodes long).

I've already watched monster, its fucking amazing.

I don't know, I don't have a problem with it honestly. Maybe because my hearing is shit anyway and I use subtitles for a lot of media so I can focus on both because I've done it for years. But I understand why some people have a problem with it.

I disagree on Samurai Champloo's dub being good as Blum barely tries to change his voice and it's really distracting IMO.

Though to add on to the list I say that Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood also had a god tier dub and Persona 4's anime adaptation on virtue of having the same voice actors from the game, though both of these have in common that the majority of the voice actors did those roles before.

Persona 5 anime got the entire game’s VAs to voice it. Too bad the anime quality itself is shit.
 
Yu Yu Hakusho's English dub is god tier. One of the few I think is legitimately better than the original Japanese dub. I think the only other English dubs I've really liked were Azumanga Daioh, Full Metal Panic, and Gun x Sword.

I never cared for s-CRY-ed's English dub.
 
I'm pretty hit or miss on dubs. There are a few dubs that I downright prefer to the subs like Baccano!, Kekkai Sensen, Space Dandy, FMA Brotherhood, Outlaw Star, Bebop and a couple of more. Aside from quality of dubbing, context is important to me too. Stories that take place in a Japanese high school where all the main characters are Japanese teenagers take me out of it if I listen to the dub. But stuff like Baccano and Kekkai Sensei which specifically take place in America with American characters or in general just anime with a western feel to it feels more "natural".

Now this feeling doesn't mean shit when the actual dubs are shit, and Funimation in particular has a tendency to just reuse the same talent over and over again to the point where I don't bother with their stuff anymore because I'm tired of hearing the same five voices.

There's actually a fair number of Japanese pop references to Christianity. Sometimes they really pull it off. Mechanical Violator Hakaider (1995) is an adaption of Paradise Lost with guys in rubber robot costumes, and there's a 1995 Yoshikazu Yasuhiko manga titled Joan which uses a fan of Joan of Arc to muse on the silence of God.

I'm a subs person, and I'd add Outlaw Star. There's an alien cat girl; the Japanese gave her a conventional performance while the Americans gave her a cracked, yowling voice that honestly sounded like she was trying to speak an alien language.

So, I did some more digging on the Korean manhwa Suicide Boy, and low and behold I was fucking right. The authors Patreon is only Islamic Content, and that seems to be the main gig at this point.
I'm not angry, I'm not surprised, I'm just disappointed.

Christianity and Japan have an interesting history.

It has largely been taboo for much of Japan's history. It was persecuted and outlawed, with one of the more oppressive instances leading to the Shimabara Rebellion, the largest civil conflict of the Edo period. Catholic peasants rising up against an oppressive regime.

I do a lot of manga reading with Tachiyomi on my phone through Mangadex though sometimes I enjoy grabbing a stack of manga to read while lounging on my bed.

I personally really enjoyed the soul eater anime which got me to check out the FF manga but it didn't have the same "spark" I felt with soul eater and dropped it out of boredom. It had its moments but I just couldn't bring myself to care about the cast, felt they were a lot weaker than soul eater. I also wouldn't consider myself a prude but the girl who's whole character is just for ecchi jokes stopped being funny really fast yet the author just kept doing the same joke over and over.

I know I'm being unfair to the series but I'd rather spend the time rewatching soul eater. MC for FF is also a big step down from Maka, but she's hard to top.

I've been following D gray man since I first got into anime, it's still one of my favorites even with 1 chapter every 3 months. Actually freaked out when I heard it was coming back off hiatus after so many years, I'm glad the author hadn't given up on finishing it even after all their health problems. The art is also on a whole other level than before, reminds me of pandora hearts near its end.

I've been following the series for so long I just want to see how it ends and the current arc is trying to answer a lot of questions. I just want to see Allen happy after all the suffering he's been put through, please author let him have a happy ending. (:_(

Watching gundam has largely numbed how annoying those brats were because tomino loved including them in his series. It was supposed to be a sad moment when Katz died in Zeta but most people saw it as the asteroid doing everyone a favor.

I've heard of that, tbf there's actually two artists with incredibly similiar art styles and get mistaken for each other a lot, one is a fan of the Suicide Boy and iirc they're friends irl.

That being said, they probably both post that sort of thing.

It's the legit author, Park something-or-other (Gee?).
Kind of a shame, the themes were interesting enough and I liked the manhwa for what it was, but porno artists aren't known to crank out SFW stuff. It just sells less. I just don't want another Floraverse situation.

Tbf I've seen Japanese artists go back and forth fairly reasonably. Don't know about the Korean side of things though other than Boichi, who did both but draws for Dr. Stone now.

I’m not sure which week it was, but for me, this month marks the anniversary of one of the mangas that actually got me back into reading manga when I was taking a break from doing so. Yotsuba&! was one of those mangas, but I read that out of curiosity. This one was actually requested to me by a friend who was also suggested to this one because he was a Death Note fan.

I think I was more of a big fan of Bakuman than Death Note because there was a time as a teenager when I was tracing and occasionally drawing anime figures from shows I used to watch (unsurprisingly, it was Dragon Ball related, but that’s what everyone did). It surprised me that there wasn’t a lot of volumes for this at the local library near where I lived, since last I checked, it went up to Volume 15. Libraries have a tendency to mix and match up manga volumes for some reason.

TL;DR – Bakuman as a manga is one of the best reads that I’ve ever had the chance of reading about. Bakuman as an anime is very under appreciated and I recommend anyone on here to watch it.

I liked Bakuman but it did have problems, one of the big ones for me was the main romance between Moritaka and that seiyuu chick (can't remember her name) needed more screentime for me to care and the conclusion to it was super underwhelming. I have no idea why he liked her and their relationship never made sense to me, at least with Akito and Kaya they have actual interactions. Though even with Death Note I felt that romance was one of the biggest weaknesses with the duo due to how they write their female characters.

Speaking to an artist friend also into the series they pointed out that the manga rubbed them the wrong way regarding attitudes in series towards unhealthy work practices. They felt that sometimes the series almost seemed to glorify it when characters would forgo their own health to extreme levels (Moritaka collapsing and ending up in the hospital or the uncle that died due to overwork) for the sake of their "passion". Overall, they still really like the series but that point and the awful romance between Moritaka and seiyuu chick do stick out.

Also, while I haven't seen the live action movie I love the theme song that Sakanaction did for it. I like their music.
