Autistic side rant aside, Vampire Hunter D is pretty good and I watched a full rip of the English dub on YouTube. I'm surprised it hasn't been taken down yet, but I suspect it's sort of like the uploads of obscure VHS rips or Dawn of the Dead: Extended Mall Hours where it's so obscure that it's beneath suspicion

It's probably because it's the original dub and not the Sentai redub from a few years back. Both dubs are good, but I was kinda taken aback with Luci Christian's voice because I had heard Barbara Goodson's voice first lol (I thought the character was actually Veronica Taylor for the longest time, though), same goes for the night-and-day that is Brittney Karbowski and Edie Mirman.

Now comparing it to Bloodlust's dub is pointless because Bloodlust's dub is god-tier.

New pv for Burn the Witch came out, made by Tite Kubo, the dude who wrote Bleach and Zombie Powder. Apparently its in the same universe as Bleach, but about the western branch, they fight dragons for some reason.

The first chapter also dropped this week. Is anyone planning on watching it?

This year has been pretty lame in the "SJWs getting triggered by anime", best so far has been Uzaki-chan and it hasn't really got any of them sperging.
Good thing Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi, coming next year, will probably trigger feminists and pretty much everyone who just can't real life.

Fantasy setting. Peasant guy gets taken in by a princess, thanks to his healing powers. He then gets relentlessly abused raped and degraded, until he's basically just a broken animal.
He gets a second chance to do it all over and vows for revenge. Basically the first actual chapter had him torturing and raping the princess when they met again.
Oh and when the princess first refused his advances, he took a piping hot coal poker from the fireplace and asked if she'd want that inside instead. Then he wipes her memories and fools her into thinking they're lovers. And after that it gets even even worse and way more sick.
I kind of like it. There's not a single good person in the cast. Everyone is equally horrible.

Yeah if Goblin Slayer and Shield Hero triggered people, Yarinaoshi will probably give them a heart attack.

I have absolutely NO idea how in the ever living fuck they are going to make this without just turning it straight up into Hentai. There's a lot of graphic sex (no nipples for some reason. Don't ask me why. Rape is ok, but nipples aren't), a ton of straight out rape, sexual torture and objectification of basically literally everyone.

Maybe its one of those things, like Japan is making this to troll the shit out of the West and basically deflect off of all the other anime by going 'You don't like our shit, huh? Well, FUCK YOU, HERE'S HOW BAD IT CAN GET'. Like with all the hate Uzaki chan is getting, some Japanese producer got super pissed and just wanted to shit all over the West.

Like, I just cannot conceive how this got green-lit other than to troll the fuck out of the West. As far as I know, the manga isn't super popular and while Isekai (it technically isn't one) is huge right now, there's no goddamn way they're not going to predict the outcome of this. But it basically destroys all the tropes about the virtuous hero holding back and just having him go insane and pure apeshit.

So its either a troll or Japan literally does not give two fucks about what the West thinks. Or maybe the start of some sort of normie purge, I don't know.

Meh, I read a few reviews about it. Big boobed Gremlin wants to annoy you is nothing outragous but also nothing special.

But in light of the twitter outcry I thought a bit more about the midget with the flesh tooth:

In my opinion outrage was bound to happen

Give her small breasts- people complain about pedo vibes because she looks like a child.

Give her normal breasts- people complain about pedo vibes because she looks like a child.

Give her huge breasts - people complain about pedo vibes because she looks like a child but also get lots of money from thirsty otaku.

But perhaps giving her large breasts also had another reason: to prevent pedophilia accusations (which didn't work) and/or to prevent the manga from becoming known as loli crap. Big breasts are for the most part a sign of maturity even in japan and especially in anime/manga (not talking about loli fetish bullshit).

So what can you do if you want to include a main character who is small like child (which also emphazises her childish personality) without making kiddie diddler shit? Give her the breasts of a mature woman. There, problem solved and on top of that otaku are going to jerk off to her in their basement and are more likely to buy your manga, animu dvds & merchandise.

The cultural aspect

The annoying but tame adventures of big tit goblin are just a drop in the ocean of manga/anime with a similar premise - bubbly girl teases the shit out of the boring & shy male main character who just wants her to go away.

But you can also look at it from a very different perspective and then you understand that there may be a deeper cultural meaning:

Japan is a country where gender roles are stricter than in the west and also has certain rules for how you should act in society. For example people are going to laugh at you if are holding hands with your significant other in public and kiss him/her. There still is a pressure to conform.

So let's change our perspective:

(Japanese) woman who doesn't give a shit about how society is viewing her is actively pursuing a man. She knows what she wants and she doesn't let anyone get in her way. She doesn't want to hide her personality even if it leads to emberrassing incidents. She is neither shy nor passive.

I guess this is the main reason why social awkward otaku like Uzaki and female otaku might feel empowered (yeah yeah she has huuuge knockers but if that was the main reason less people would watch it because porn is available 24/7). This might be something western weebs don't think about because they are living in a different culture.

Of course there is often fan service because sweet 💴💴💴 but it makes sense why nip otaku (& weebs) like Uzaki and similar anime. Because lots of (japanese) men actually like women like this and I bet it's not just guys who watch anime all day long.

Tl;dr the white haired gnome with Robert Paulson tits represents something that's alien to japanese culture as a whole but something that people crave for.

The simpler solution is that everyone on Twitter is a faggot looking for something to complain about, and 900 pound land whales are constantly jealous that they're never, ever going to be anything but comic relief. I also don't think they really care about pedo accusations because breast envy is a huge anime trope and having her have huge tits gets more comedy out of that. Like, I really think Japan does not give a fuck about them.

Because if they can't have nice things, no one can.
I say it a lot, but they revel in the misery of others. They have a seething hatred of themselves so nobody is allowed to enjoy anything.
They're not progressive or even good people, they just want to feel like they're important while sitting on their computers and doing nothing else.

Anime characters normally aren't even white. They're asian. Not brown enough on the sjw scale. And some of them even dare believe in Christianity. The religion of SLAUGHTER AND MIND CONTROL!
Kinda like it that most Japanese media actually portrays Christianity in a positive light. Like in Rurouni Kenshin and more recently in Sword Art Online.

Its pretty much this. Their lives are so completely empty of joy and fun, they cannot stand to see others enjoying themselves. And because they themselves are so fucking repugnant that no normal human being wants to associate with them, communities enjoying themselves anger them even more.

Also a lot of anime pushes Japanese superiority as well over the west. Even in medieval European settings, their cuisine is super delicious and fucking awesome to everybody. Fuck, even characters that are supposed to be other nationalities are half-Japanese. Shit constantly centers around Japan and Japanese culture and basically disregards Western society's morality and standards.

Not to mention a LOT of anime centers around gender roles (being a man is one, especially a strong man), stressing the importance of family, responsibility, as well as not being shameful and attempting to bond over differences. Also the importance of spirituality, whether it be Buddhist reincarnation or Christianity (which is kind of funny how Japan treats it, like some mystical religion. Its kind of great, seeing it through their eyes). Also a ton of anime have a bathing scene because nude bathing is huge in Japanese culture (Again, even in European or American settings), even tame PG anime has them. And nearly all the characters are attractive because the Japanese understand that nobody wants to look at ugly people for 12 or 24 episodes.

These messages don't resonate with these people because generally, they're human trash who cannot accept responsibility themselves, who pawn off their problems on whitey or the rich and have no sense of introspection or are fervent atheists to the extent of it being a religion itself. And most of them are physically fucking repulsive. So anime to them is alien and 'wrong' because it completely separates from their normal value systems in terms of something more traditional and harder on the individual. They want to convert it to their values because they see Japanese culture as wrong. But Japan honestly does not care. They're really, really fucking proud (all Asian countries are, actually) and they very very rarely bend the knee to other cultures.

They really only give a shit because its become more popular as Western entertainment is beginning to fucking crater because it no longer caters to its audience. Honestly, they are literally trying to appropriate Eastern culture to fit with their Western value systems.

Nudity in spas is also very common in europe. It's often mandatory and sometimes you aren't even allowed to wear a towel.

pretty much all Russia, Eastern Europe and Nordic states are like that. Many types of sauna is almost a religious experience, cure-all and always have been all nude. Public bath houses were male/female and family that I haven't been to. It's not a big deal and nothing sexual about it. US and probably hard core West are puritanical about nipples, tits etc. In Ancient Rome public toilets were literally public, unisex with row of shitters that were not separated in any way. I don't know why or how people started to sexualize shitting. Also, same sex shitters in Eastern Europe have no dividers, it's literally like a row of shitters (hole in the floor) with no privacy, probably similar to China. Privacy on a shitter is def a Western/1st world thing.

This is slight detour because it's not directly related to your point. I only seen handful of anime, mostly on recommendation from friends and as a background noise while doing something else (honestly, it's not mine) Anyway, what impressed me so far is the uncommonly high number of soy boi characters who look up to strong mommy type. There may be other superior male characters, but not in main roles. It may be a Jap thing, I don't know or may be it appeals to certain groups.

Act-Age illustrator Shiro Usazaki issues statement regarding writer Tatsuya Matsuki's arrest

Translation of the full statement
Summary from Caleb Cook (Jump translator)

- She summarizes the incident surrounding Matsuki (the author)

- She praises the victims for the bravery it took to report the crimes & "speak out in valid anger in regards to their violated dignity"

- She accepts Shueisha's decision to end the serialization, the volumes, merch, etc.. She says it was the appropriate decision cause seeing anything related to Act-Age could literally be triggering for the victims (making them relive that terror)

- She's just as disappointed as the fans that the series had to end abruptly, but she doesn't want any blame for that put on the victims, because they were perfectly justified in reporting the crimes. Don't make light of their courage.

- As someone who literally lives for manga, she gets how fans must feel, but she doesn't want misdirected love (for manga) to turn into violence/abuse. "Use your heads, consider other perspectives, don't swallow baseless information, & think before you speak"

- Finally, she hopes that the victims get all the mental/emotional help they need & that they never experience this sort of thing again

BTW the translation is a bit inaccurate due to it being incomplete. Basically, the translation doesn't add that he was detained/arrested because of “suspicion of...” or “allegedly...” even if there’s no doubt he did it, since he said so himself.

Weekly Shonen Jump's editorial department also issued a statement, stating that they agree with Usazaki's statement & that they will support her future endeavors.

I'd probably watch the anime when it comes out. I can bet it will be a usual case of cool design and fun premise but godaweful execution.

So how do you explain all that gender-bending stuff like Princess Knight or Rose of Versailles? Or Utena for that matter?

I shouldn't have said 'centers'. But its not in every anime, just a lot of them. Either referenced or even just a comment about being a man, even if its not directed at the main character.

And Utena is fucking batshit crazy, so don't even with that.

If anyone is interested, the second omnibus of Kaiji is supposed to come out in October 6th, even though on DENPA’s website, it was supposed to be released tomorrow.

I still have the first one, but I’m hoping that they used the COVID-19 excuse as to why this has not come out yet. Otherwise, I’ll still focus on just reading it online and watching the anime of it.

Note how Japan has its own version of "cancel culture". If you are a celebrity or known in the manga/anime industry & do stupid shit you and everything you are currently doing either literally gets cancelled or you get replaced.

2 and 3 were supposed to release around the same time IIRC before getting delayed which sucks. I'm hoping it does well enough for them to translate the other parts and/or branch out to some of his other work.

So, I started watching Darker than Black because the premise sounded kinda interesting, but I'm about 5-6 eps in and just not particularly invested, which is strange for an award-winning show with a fairly high fan rating. Not that I think it's bad, but so far it hasn't done a good job of getting me interested in its power system and the red-haired girl bait-n-switch protag whose name I've legitimately forgotten isn't doing anything for me either.

Is this one of those shows that starts off meh but gets better as it goes on?

I watched it a long time ago so I might be wrong, but isn't that in season 2?
Blame it on spoiler osmosis, when I was looking up basic stuff about the show pretty much every other source reveals that Hei is the actual protagonist (and with that knowledge in mind, it's actually super obvious in the early episodes).

I'm amazed Funimation has for the most part left Rosario vampire on Blu Ray alone. The studio is on the wrong side of the weeb wars and RV is a kind of anime that if it was made and aired or distributed In the us today I'm fairly sure some whiny anti anime sjws would start with the reeeeeing.

I'm honestly surprised they didn't just make it a hentai anime either but I'd chalk that up to the drastic changes in that market post-2008 where it's completely dead in America with no new official releases dubbed or subbed while the home Japanese market has probably drifted further away from the "grimdark porn with plot" of the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's.

Otherwise I'm with you on the possibility of Japanese studios deciding to deliberately give the finger to the West. The bullshit controversy over a bland PG-13 "meh" comedy like Uzaki-chan (especially in light of shit like Cuties or the She-Ra reboot) coupled with the Patreon ban and the Amazon fuckery is probably making the suits in Japan decide to actually fight back now that the Western market for anime and manga is increasingly getting bigger (and is poised to eclipse the heights of the early 2000's Anime Boom) while Western media icons like Marvel have become played out and everyone else is cratering.

It's pretty transparent that the whole "Weeb Shaming" trend in the United States is astroturfed by companies like Disney, Sony, and Warner at this point. When it started in the late 2000's/early 2010's, it was a more genuine backlash similar to the hating on otaku in Japan where it's dunking on dumb spergs for acting like dumb spergs.

But it's obvious the Woke Left's vendetta against anything tangentially related to anime and the Twitter sperging over pedos, Nazis, and fedora-clad "le evil neckbeard misogynist" strawmen is ridiculous even for SJW standards and it's clearly being given a wider platform by American media companies like Disney to keep out competition and make sure the soylent consoomer bugmen with the actual neckbeards and the dangerhair punk sows keep steady to the lifestyle brand franchises and the rest of the audience doesn't spend their money on the competition elsewhere.

Note how Japan has its own version of "cancel culture". If you are a celebrity or known in the manga/anime industry & do stupid shit you and everything you are currently doing either literally gets cancelled or you get replaced.

Agreed. I get the feeling the cancel culture in Japan is a lot more like the kind found in Golden Age Hollywood during the 1950's and early 1960's where it's more of a thing if you're already a high-profile media figure or are linked to specific industries. "You'll never work in this town again" and all that.

"Cancel culture" is a universal thing that has always existed in one form or another but the Woke Left's brand of cancel culture is unique only in the massive scope it has thanks to social media.

Cancel culture is a new word for a phenomenon that's older than dirt. Before SJW's existed, it was the Religious Right engaged in cancel culture like the Satanic Panic and prior to that you had other moral panics and "cancellations". Henry Ford funded efforts to cancel jazz musicians since he blamed jazz and the radio for promoting juvenile delinquency and immoral thinking.

Hell, even Shakespeare and Christmas were "cancelled" by the Puritans while Socrates is one of the most famous victims of cancel culture when he was brought before the court of Athens.

The Athenian courts even had ostracism as a common form of punishment, same goes for the outlawing practiced by the Norse and Anglo-Saxons.
