I got reminded lately by one of the worse fucking ending I've ever seen for a manga. The manga is The World God Only Knows. I'll spoiler the ending though it's really one of the cases of the quality dipping massively as it progresses with the ending itself being over way too quickly. Hopefully I haven't forgotten too much:
So the manga is about a guy who played dating sims and needs to get girls to fall in love with him or they lose their lives. About a third of the way through the plot introduces a new character who's the main character's former childhood friend and they pretty much inseperable for the rest of the series. Near the ending, the manga decides to have an actual conclusion who's the girl the main character is really in love with and it's a girl that, while not being a complete non-entity in the comic is quite close to that.
Besides coming out nowhere, the most infuriating thing about this decision is that it feels like an unwarranted twist ending that goes against actual character relations in the manga without really justifying it.
It's sort of like Re;Zero with Rem, but that at least happens relatively early in the story and Emilia is an actual important character rather than a character that feels like a throwaway.
Iirc it was portrayed that he fell for her because she didn’t follow his dating sim routes like all the other ones. I think there was also something to do with that she also did her own type of boyfriend hunting similar to what the protag did with his dating sims
Been a long time since I read it tho so I might be mistaken.

Found it in nhentai.

There's... there's at least a 20% chance that this actually happened. Don't ask me how I did the numbers, I just...look, weirder things can; and have, happened.

The impersonation's a fucking lie, though.

Any Case Closed/Detective Conan fans here? I used to watch this on adult Swim back in the day. It's about a high school detective named Jimmy Kudo. He is turned into a kid after he's given a poison that is supposed to kill him from these two guys in a group called the Black Organization. He then has to go by Conan Edogawa while living at his friends Rachels house and making it look like her detective father is solving the cases. That way he won't be found out. Unfortunately it only lasted 100 something episodes before it was cancelled, a good chuck of those never aired. They were just dubbed. It was called due to low ratings. I often blame the time slot. It aired late. Around 1:00 AM where I live which is central time. It didn't air on Toonami as I suppose it was a little two violent. Most episodes are about murder. I also think it failed because of it's genre. There's really nothing super natural about it. There's no magic, super powers, aliens, ghost, etc. Getting turned into a child is the only out of the normal thing. At the time at least I think Americans were usually into animes that had all those things with a few exceptions. At least the manga is still being translated into English.

I only know the basics of the series as I never got very far myself. it's on my backlog though I don't know if I'd rather the manga or the anime. Discotek started to release some of the movies for the series, no idea if that means they might be interested in bringing over the series or not since it is quite long.

Your mentioning of Case Closed reminded me of the joke videos Taste Closed based around the series only to realize the first video is blocked in my country.

Yeah, I loved that show when I was a kid. I remember my friends used to buy me the movies and DVDs for my birthday all the time.
