Not the biggest fan of the rebuild movies, still haven't finished 3.0 and don't really have an interest to. The characters were acting really weird and convoluted to me for the sake of moving the plot into a specific direction. I only got half-way through watching it myself before turning it off, but from what I've heard of the second half I don't think I'd like it.

Maybe if 3.0+1.0 turns out amazing I'll get through 3.0 but I'm not getting my hopes up unless it's another big "fuck you" like End of Evangelion. Probably 1.0 is my favorite since it's before there were major deviations in the plot, but I did really like the ending of 2.0.

Think that was the point? Like the "twist" happens around the midway point to explain why everyone's acting the way they are, but it's just one big mindfuck that I think I missed something when I watched it and I just have to wonder if Anno's messing with us--but I still enjoyed watching it. I have plans to rewatch the entire series before the last one comes out (I'm hoping for an American theatrical release, I just wanna see it in theaters tbh), so maybe I'll have a different opinion.

NGE is one of my favorite shows of all time and all it took was a clip of Shinji fighting an angel with his eyes glowing red and him going full Kamina-hot-blooded-battle-hijinks to decide that I am not going to waste any time to watch that shit.

There's new stuff coming out for Fafner: Beyond and I still haven't started Fafner: Exodus because I know it'll be a depressing mess where no character is safe from death or despair. Still debating if I'll need to rewatch the original series and movie again or if I remember enough to just jump into actually catching up. Best to just rip the band-aid off and suffer.

I think it's just me thinking back to how the characters were in the originally series and getting weirded out at how "wrong" they were acting in the movies. I also didn't really like how everyone was treating Shinji while not telling him anything about what he "did" to deserve it.

I'll probably get around to actually watching it through once the last one comes out just for completions sake, but I highly doubt it'll replace the original series + EoE for me.

That scene was kinda weird but I loved the ost they picked for it.

it's a misdirection. everything goes to hell after that and the third one shits all over shinji's brief stint as a ttgl style mecha pilot. personally I liked the second movie going there, I liked seeing shinji be more assertive, but I also liked the third movie ripping his one victory away from him and pulling things back to a more traditional eva mood.

wow they actually went and did it, they are going to animate Realist hero, finally we the elitist fags of isekai are going to spit on the plebs

The thing is weird because out of the window it doesn't give a shit about normal isekai rules, the protagonist is for all purposes a weakling, his only skill is Puppetry that he use for desk work, he almost never fight because of it, and the LN state that he doesnt have to because he has his wifes (more of that later) and army that fight for him, oh yeah he is pretty much appointed King starting the first vol because he convinced the king and all in the castle that things were going to go awful because the later king was to much of a softie to apply laws that could upset the nobles

First thing the kingdom is pretty much broke, awfully broke, the summoning of the mc happened because of a treaty that is like a OTAN but were the lesser countries (aka the ones far from the hot zone) had to provide something for the war efforts in the north that is where the demon lord resides, the leader of the empire asked them to summon the hero or pay what they owe or prepared to be invaded, the kingdom being broke as Venezuela take their chances and by mere luck manage to summon the MC, after the MC heard about the situation he decided to take measures to prevent him for being delivered to the empire and be used as a war asset/propaganda symbol

The MC decide to go the treasury and catalogued everything that was there, whatever thing that was not nailed to the ground and had some value was going to be sold, no bitching allowed, the only thing that was going to be spared are objects with historical value because there was no time, he finally got the dosh to pay USA empire to make them go away for awhile

Second the kingdom has a problem with severe shortage of foods, when the MC go to check the reason he discovered that the galaxy brain nobles decide to use every single piece of rich soil to raise "cash crops" in the case of the kingdom it was Cotton, they were using that to sell by the shitloads and use the money to import food and necessities but there were several problems with it iirc cotton takes to much time to grow, the time between cultivating it and actually selling are to high and we are in medieval setting so logistic are terrible, he decided to diversify the crops and while they are growing buy food with the surplus money he got from the treasury until they could self sustain with his plan

Then to alleviate the other problems the MC decide to use the national broadcast system (a huge magical crystal that work like those giant TVs you see in some concerts) to give announces but first he gave to the people a recipe to make noodles using slimes, considering those things are everywhere, multiply by the dozen and are easy to obtain was a cheap way to feed the people, this start a huge increases of request for slimes in the adventure guild (is a kinda specialized work because you need to remove the core with a stick, if you slash it the slime disappear) then he ask for capable people to come for him, he need people with special talents so he could appoint them for specific task (i think im mixing the timeline because is been a year since i read the first vl) in the casting he gets a fat guy that is very good at cooking, OkitaAlterElf (jajajaja) that he manage to make her his bodyguard after she tell him that is forest has problems with floods but the MC point that is probably because they are not trimming the trees, she tell him that he is absolutely right because her culture doesnt let them cut the trees, he also get Parvati(jajajajaja) that is very good at singing and a guy that is super smart but lazy, he gets appointed as prime minister, then come the last appointment a little fox girl that no one know why she is there until someone told the MC what her special skill was, he pretty much freeze in the spot and told everyone to leave because the girl is practically a walking political nuclear bomb, the loli has the ability to talk with animals INCLUDING demons, this crush the theory that everyone believed that the demons were just irrational monsters that were only there to be bad and be killed, this means that with her he could talk with the demons and maybe arrange some kind of negotiation, but he wanted this to be hidden because if the empire know they would go back and probably declare war just to get the loli

and i dont remember anything else i think what comes later is a plan to make the other factions of the army to pledge loyalty to him, the navy, the air force and the army refuse to recognize him as king to he has to find a way to make them obey him

For anyone looking for a great sci-fi series I can't recommend irresponsible captain tylor enough, one of my all time favorite series. Gives me the same sense of enjoyment as Dirty Pair.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=H8W7eF49xv4It's a lot of fun to watch Tylor clear all obstacles by being either the luckiest idiot or transcended genius and the rest of the cast really grows on you. Nozomi has the full series subbed and dubbed up on their youtube, personally I'm a big fan of the dub. They're also planning on releasing a blu-ray special edition at some point but it's going slow, I trust it'll be a great release since it's one of the favorite series of the guy running nozomi.

Small clip that gives a good introduction to Tylor's character.

Also, for anyone looking for a fun series focused on delinquents Saizen finished up the Be-Bop High school OVAs last year. I haven't gotten around to looking at any of the currently airing anime or finish up what I was watching last season because I've been more interested in watching older shows. Only series I know I'm keeping up with at the moment is Fruits Basket s2 but that's because I'm a big fan of the manga and the first season was so good.
I haven't seen Dirty Pair but I love the shit outta Tylor. Great series overall. Never got around watching the OVA, though.

I also haven't as well. Tylor was honestly a blind buy from around when I was just getting into anime, when I checked the OVAs on rightstuf the one review that it had made me believe that my money would be better spent on something else. I was totally satisfied with how the series ended so I've never checked them out after all these years.

I would take this chance and recommend the Gunsmith Cats OVA to you. It's a great watch and it'll make you crave for more. I think we're getting a sequel this year according to this Kickstarter Article.

Watched the first two episodes of the Adventure reboot.

Seriously? Omnimon already? I can already tell this is going to be the Tai and Matt show with TK and Kari occasionally popping in to perform a miracle to save them. Wonder how many special forms they will get that the other kids won’t.

Yeaaaah that's why I'm not rushing out to watch it yet. I hear apparently it's only gonna be a two-cour series or something like that, which is stupid but if it'll get the Adventure boner over and done with quicker, then whatever.

Oh, I remember watching those many years ago and having an absolute blast the entire way through. Rally and Minnie share a very similar relationship to Kei and Yuri from Dirty Pair, I really don't know the name for it, but it's always a lot of fun to watch them constant nag and shit talk each other. I know animeigo brought the OVA stateside recently and I've been meaning to pick it up.

I'd be really interested in getting a sequel as long as it's faithful to the original.

My Daughter Grew Up To "Rank S" Adventurer is an adaptation of the... light novel? Web novel? Not too sure about the details, but it has adventurers. I'm typically leery of that subject when mixed with LNs (says probably one of the biggest fans of Goblin Slayer on this site), but I got curious when I saw a thread about it, took a look, and...

...damn it, it's legitimately good.

The story begins several years ago with the big guy on the right, a former adventurer with incredible potential, though his career had barely even started before a powerful monster took out his right leg and forced him to retire. Content to spend the rest of his days back in his hometown, he finds an abandoned baby in the woods and adopts her, spoiling her silly to the point where she develops one hell of a dad complex. As she grew older it became clear her talents mirror his own - by the time she hit her teens, she decides she wants to use her skills to explore the world, become an adventurer like her father, and make him proud. Not long after, she has earned fame and renown as a vaunted "S Rank".

In present day, the daughter finally finds enough downtime to return back home and see her father again. However, increasingly dangerous monster hordes and the rise of a dark cult conspire to overturn the world, and this time her dear old man might have to pick up his sword for the first time in ages and join her in battle.

You ever come across a random clip of an anime on YouTube and go “this was created as part of someone’s fetish”? Because that’s the feeling I got with seeing Gleipnir. Based solely on what the inside of the MC’s body looks like when he’s in his weird mascot mode and a girl climbs inside.

and no, you don’t get context past that.

So there's an Evangelion x Tamagotchi collab to celebrate the new movie.
"If you neglect the angels, they will create an AT-field, close their hearts, and you have to destroy them. You can feed them and love them by playing with them and giving them LCL to drink."

god bless japan

There isn't any overlying story other than episodic misadventures in the TV series and OVA (I recommend starting out with the former), but Dirty Pair is still fun, cheesy 80's sci-fi.
