Knowing the approximate era narrows down the search. I'd also say mid-to-late 1990s unless it's a show with a retro style.

Her eyebrows and expression are in a style vaguely reminiscent of the AIC/Pioneer style from that era, but I don't think it's either Tenchi Muyo or El Hazard.

Friend sent this gif to me. Anyone know what anime it's from?

That looks like Studio Pierrot's Tenamonya Voyagers?

Yeah, something about the jacket seemed like it'd be from a sci-fi comedy from the late 1990s. I was thinking she was perhaps a minor character from Lost Universe but I couldn't find a character who matched.

EDIT: Sorry, I meant Lost Universe, not Lost Odyssey. The "Slayers... but in space!" anime.

I may be late on this;
My friend has just informed me that quite a few Scanlation sites for Shonnen jump are jumping ship and no longer doing their services, does anyone know if this is for certain?

It is true because Shonen jump now post the chapters on their own site for free and almost at the same time as Japan, so there is no way that scanlators can even compete

Oh, so Aldnoah.Zero, Gargantia, and recently Obsolete aren't "hardcore" mecha enough?

Reminder that he only gave the setting for Aldnoah, Gargantia and Expelled from paradise, wonder what Nitro had to do so he could stop sperging with dolls

Yeah, on Manga Plus. Only issue is that with a lot of them, only the first/last three chapters are viewable, so if you're not keeping track from day one you're pretty much fucked.

Weebs, i need your help! i have taken a deep dive into older anime, but alot of it is hard to find. some of it like cyber city oedo 808 is on youtube, but alot of it is just not on the net, atleast not with some knd of subs or dubs, does anybody have a good source for stuff like that?

So I've seen this dude say woke shit on twitter before and he kind of words shit in a condescending way which is kind of cringy because he's being smug about how well he knows anime but I still think that this is a pretty good video for providing people with resources to do their own exploring without leading them in any direction or telling them what to think. I often see faggots with less than 10K subs dunking on casual opinions and talking about "misinformation" in the anime community even though half of the time, they classify disagreeing with them as misinformation and absolutely none of those people create nonbiased, educational content to fix the shit they have such a big issue with except for this guy.

The info is extremely entry-level except for the bit about Sakuga but I think this could be the start of a really good series that everyone could learn from, what do you guys think?

I think, for a lot of that sort of thing, "buying old physical media from eBay" is probably your only option. Or going to Bing video search since it finds a lot of full episodes that Google DMCA blocks.

VHS are getting pretty old and the quality is slowly tanking. Beta and laser disk is just to expensive and you get even less media for it.
my only good source are dvd rips at a fleemarket at a Japan convention, but thats only once a year.

"The quality is slowly tanking"? I have tapes that are nearly 40 years old now and play like they were new.
