Tenchi in Tokyo was a hard one to watch because Sakuya felt so wrong. I'm like 90% convinced Sakuya was a self-insert character, she kinda acted like one, but she wasn't well-written or a good subversion or anything of the like. Granted, it turned out she was just a creation of Yuugi to separate Tenchi from Ryoko and the others, but she was so hard to care about because she didn't really have a personality.

Tenchi in Tokyo felt like it was conceived as an original show but then the studio changed it to be yet another Tenchi Muyo alternate universe.

It was hit or miss but I did like some things about it like the episode where they found the ruins and it strongly implied that humanity is a multiplanetary species and Earth humans had an extraterrestrial origin. Not that I believe that in real life but I totally believe that's also what happened in the other two mainline Tenchi Muyo continuities. It would explain those space humans with no apparent differences than Earth humans, especially Kiyone Makibi who not only appears to be an ordinary human but also appears to be from Space Japan except a different Space Japan than Jurai, which, as I mentioned before, is explicitly Space Japan. To expand on that, Jurai seems to be Space Traditional Japan while Kiyone Makibi, whose home planet is never mentioned as far as I know, seems to be from Space Modern Japan.

That reminds me of the Eureka 7 “sequel” Astral Ocean which absolutely felt like it started as an original idea before Eureka 7 elements were grafted in at the unfortunate cost of ruining the original’s happy ending, fuck was that a disappointment.

Just watched the anime trailer for Dorohedoro. Yea I did catch the weird CGI. It also feels like they blasted the saturation on the colors. If they keep the brutality and gritty atmosphere of the manga I'll definitely watch it. Reading Doro was the last time I got really into a manga. But if it's more terrible CG animation like what they did to Berserk, I'll turn the other cheek, put a pillow over my head and go to bed.

Lol what the actual fuck did I just read?

So I'm watching Psycho-Pass S3, and I'm just done with it. I'm so fucking tired of anime doing shit like this: Just side-lining protagonists and shipping in an entire new cast to revitalize a franchise. Your shit wasn't working, so you think your characters are getting stale. No, you faggots, its your writing. Its your writing. How many series need to be broken before this is realized?

Season 1 of Psycho-Pass was basically a told story, it didn't need any elaboration it was completely circular and beautiful. Season 2 suffers from Season 1 being basically a told story. Lets be honest here, Season 2 was always going to pale in comparison to Season 1. Psycho-pass Season 1 wraps up so neatly, with a circular theme to the work itself as well as the characters, its beautiful. The best you could hope for is mediocre compared to that. Then you can get a Season 3 going either way. But instead of realizing this, they decide to throw out the main cast, sideline the protagonist of what, seven fucking years to two protagonists I don't give a fuck about? My God. Its like they fail to understand why Season 2 didn't work as well as 1. Even after the release of like five movies or some shit.

I've tried, but I just can't get 'I don't give a shit' about either of these guys or the new cast out of my brain. Not to mention to basically, not only side-line the (former) protagonist but to barely even explore with major events with two episodes to go? Fuck off show. To add insult to injury she's replaced by a shitty John Wick Clone and a fucking guy that basically uses magic in a neo-noir detective show. Its like Ghost in the Shell 2 except there's no fucking
Batou and its just some random assholes you don't give a shit about and maybe one or two of Section 9 thrown in to try and keep you around. At least Ghost in the Shell realized the world and the Major needed to go hand in hand, which is why she's been a main feature of nearly everything else. How do you not learn the lessons GitS realized, fucking what, 15 years ago? Even people back then were massively disappointed with that and it still gets shit to this day for it.

I get why they're keeping the mystery around Akane because the entire fucking viewership would crater if we found out what happened to her, because I just got fed up after 2 episodes not learning a thing that she's barely mentioned and I better get used to it. I have a suspicion that's why people are still fucking watching this. Psycho-Pass was niche to begin with but to think you're better than GitS and sidelining your characters, uh no. Sorry sweet-heart, that shit is what we call unrealistic expectations. Stay your lane.

I mean, just imagine having a GitS without Mokoto. People would fucking riot. Its not really, let me put it in perspective, imagine having a GitS series with like 2 of the least popular Section 9 members, none of the others and only talk about an incident with the Major not being around and saving it (potentially, possibly) for the end of your series and to replace her you have two unlikable douchebags, one of whom is a wizard. That's the equivalent. People would straight up fucking murder you.

Been watching Stars Align or some shit. Generic high school tennis series. As per the usual tropes, it's nobodies-to-somebodies, not somebodies-to-stars, so it's pretty on the down low.

Then, latest episode, they had to go scout out the first opposition in the summer tournament. They grew a hedge and report anyone standing around because they take tennis seriously. Okay. Then, the softspoken guy brings up that they could dress up as girls, which lead to the driest tell-dont-show scenario, which is just 9 minutes of "trans good, my mom friend trans, very man".

So close to being a second worthwhile sports show and it shilled out. Sure, done well and in a tasteful manner, but fucking hell. The girl team is superior to the boy tennis team, why not make it a gender dynamic sort of thing? Nah. Brought up in a closed room for 9 mins and never again.

This is why I read manga instead of anime these days. Same bullshit, half the time.

Blame the studio, they want to keep milking Psycho pass because for some reason people keep watching it but it suffers for the olde trick of Japan of forcing something to be popular by sheer publicity, everyone knows Psycho pass has not been good since Urobuchi stop supervising it that's why the studio dont promote it with his name, also the "super power" is just the "mental palace" of sherlock holmes only in cyberpunk fashion (its explained as such in the series), now for some reason american anitwitter is watching it because it tackles the matter of immigrants so its easy to find neo brained takes using the series as a example even when people forget that the only reason the city of psycho pass is a dystopian one is because it was needed because the world went to shit with a war and they decide to take a isolationist policy to prevent being affected by it, in the movies you see how bad it is and why there is so much people trying to enter the city because the other options is neo philippines and that place is a shithole with a Sybil System

Been checking out this manga called Chiguhagu Lovers:

This story is about two childhood friends, Sayaka and Mushin, who have both practiced kendo for a long time. Sayaka is fairly strong and Mushin is not, but he dreams of protecting her anyway. Even though he doesn't realize it, Sayaka is the one who is always protecting him whenever he is in danger, without him being aware of it.... However, Mujin has a strong weapon of his own, which is something that has conquered even Sayaka: his earnest honesty and unfazed good will.

Cue to rivals popping up constantly, "evil organizations" trying to destroy Sayaka's and Mushin's Dojo, and even several love rivals who want to destroy their closeness, who are simply attracted by either Sayaka's charisma or Mushin's kindness.... Thus, both Sayaka and Mushin have their own battles and at times they may need to cooperate to surpass the impossible hurdles, of which being step-siblings is the very first one.

If only urobutcher was here he would have known what to do.

Blame the studio, they want to keep jerking off Psycho pass because for some reason people keep watching it but it suffers for the olde trick of Japan of forcing something to be popular by sheer publicity, everyone knows Psycho pass has not been good since Urobuchi stop supervising it that's why the studio dont promote it with his name, also the "super power" is just the "mental palace" of sherlock holmes only in cyberpunk fashion (its explained as such in the series), now for some reason american anitwitter is watching it because it tackles the matter of immigrants so its easy to find neo brained takes using the series as a example even when people forget that the only reason the city of psycho pass is a dystopian one is because it was needed because the world went to shit with a war and they decide to take a isolationist policy to prevent being affected by it, in the movies you see how bad it is and why there is so much people trying to enter the city because the other options is neo philippines and that place is a shithole with a Sybil System

I fully 100% blame the studio. They want to do a fucking soft reboot when there are threads to be explored and characters to still develop and relationships to bring to fruition. I know absolutely why they hid 90% of the cast behind 'muh mystery' and had fucking Akane framed for murder?! How in the ever living shit does that even work? Yeah, she's got a really low Psycho Pass due to her insane will, but murdering someone? How does that even fly in this universe? It is the most piss poor excuse to side-line a character and unbelievably disrespectful. Can we stop having the 'Inspector became an Enforcer' shit? It worked with Ginzo because his arc and characterization were exceptional. I'm still shocked 'Oh she's suspected in a murder.' Nigger, if her Psycho Pass is like 5, she didn't do anything. You think if that character committed a homicide she wouldn't just go black instantly? My god. Its so bad.

Akane is portrayed as a force of will, whose unflinching faith in law and the belief that people need to protect it would NEVER let her stray from the path and making her an 'ex' inspector is fucking insulting and shows they want to sideline her right off the bat.

They absolutely KNEW the second they introduced the old cast the new one would pale in comparison so they had to only brought the most boring characters back. I'm still seeing delusional replies 'Oh, its not too late, there's still time to introduce the old crew!' on Reddit and Anime forums. I have Amazon Prime and I'M Pirating this shit. They don't deserve a ratings boost.

Don't even get me started on the Anti-Immigration shit. My eyes rolled in the back of my head and cracked open. Everyone is anti-immigration because Japan is literally the last peaceful country left on the planet, which is why Akane struggles with the existence of an omnipotent hive-mind controlling everyone's fate and just shutting them down to actually working with them because she knows the darkness of the world that is out there, and its this massive conflict. The problem with immigrants is that they're all from war torn countries and so psychologically traumatized all of them are latent criminals (sorry, they would be) and people are terrified just by being around them they might become criminals themselves. Which is why Japan is incredibly isolationist.

It makes no sense for any of the enforcers or inspectors or anyone in that society to be pro-immigration. When the entire world is a war-torn hellscape, yeah, no fucking shit you don't want immigrants. Why WOULD Japan want immigrants? Its already testing its program in other nations, why would it increase that load in its own?

This has been a massive failure IMO and I hope it bombs. I'd rather it die than get a soft reboot again and have to, yet again, see characters I don't give a fuck about doing shit.

If only urobutcher was here he would have known what to do.

Yeah, not any of this shit. And what is with this fucktarded format? 8 episodes that are 45 minutes each? Wut? Is this trying to conform to Amazon or something?

I mean, for me, Season 3 is pretty straightforward. Play up the strife between Akane (who hasn't been onscreen since 20fucking15) and Shimotsuki. Develop the characters more. You've expanded the world outwards, use it.

Nope, soft reboot. Same thing the faggots in the west are doing. You're not reinventing yourself. Whatever writer you've hired is not good enough. And their symbolism will date the ever living fuck out of this. Why is this even a thing and not a separate anthology? You know you can't compete with the old characters, just have it happening in a different part of Japan or something. But they didn't do that because they know they can't compete on their own. Fucking hack trash.

Can we stop having the 'Inspector became an Enforcer' shit?

Apparently they took the "he who fight monster" that urobutcher tried to put to the extreme but failed because the script writer doesnt know what to do, proof that butcher was the one that made everything awesome until he decide that taiwanese puppets and Godzilla was his groove

I'm still shocked 'Oh she's suspected in a murder.' Nigger, if her Psycho Pass is like 5, she didn't do anything

It was explained in the first season, there are people that are considered "criminally asymptomatic" aka people that could rape, murder and kick puppies and their Psycho pass would stay in 0, ironically those people are the basis of the Sybil system, probably after the incident with Makishima the system now suspect of people whose Psycho pass does not change aka "your pass could be crystal clear but there is a HIGH chance that you are a criminal"

t. The problem with immigrants is that they're all from war torn countries and so psychologically traumatized all of them are latent criminals

It doesn't help that to enter Japan you have to be approved by the Sybil System, is the illegals one that have Psycho pass that are utter garbage but anitwitter ironically forgot that little detail

I agree with you except for the second part. To be fair, it'd be a fun little twist if Akane was criminally asymptomatic but she's not. It's really heavily implied she's a normal person but that her strength of will and faith in her belief system she is willing to die for it rather than compromise herself. Which is basically the better writing choice.

Criminally asymptomatic people are generally viewed as pure, untouched sociopaths and loners isolated from society. This is most certainly not Akane. Also Sybil would have recognized her a long time ago as criminally asymptomatic. That's why Sybil is so fucking horrifying in S1; its comprised of total sociopaths and even then it fundamentally misunderstands people by being unable to grasp the determination of Akane, Mikashiama and Ko.

It's a completely imperfect system, exposed by the two protagonists and the antagonist. Akane has a very hostile relationship with Sybil. She is only keeping it around because there's nothing better and she is not willing to destroy that many people. But at the same time she does not tolerate the existence of Sybil itself. There's this unresolved conflict with Akane, serving a system she knows is imperfect, but is the only thing that she can do besides to protect the law and uphold her ideals, until the very day Sybil is not needed and where she would turn her gun on the system itself, because she knows it would act out of self preservation. That's why she basically tells the system 'I'll see you in hell' when it asks her to change it from within. She knows one day she will end up targeted by Sybil precisely because of her will and she is perfectly content with that.

Sybil believes it to be always needed and treats Akane like a curiosity, sociopaths observing an insect.

So I'd say both from a plot, character and thematic perspective you have shit yourself when you make Akane this. Basically Akane is waiting for the day to wage all out war against Sybil. Sybil believes that day will never come.

I mean, do you see where the major conflict from the third season comes in? That shapes every character and is a culmination of 7 years of plot, world building and character development?

Its immigrants good, DRUMPF bad.

Its immigrants good, DRUMPF bad.

Oh yeah the galaxy brains takes about it is abysmal thankfully i only observe anitwitter like a curiosity because holy crap, i still found hilarious the system even has to approve political candidates and even religions, if they are not approved by Sybil they get lazerjammed

It's a completely imperfect system,

Yeah the flaws are more obvious when they were discussing eugenics, one of the new enforcers was tailor made to be kickass but his psycho pass was flagged as latent criminal and his life was ruined even before he could even walk

I'm not surprised to hear that season three of Psycho-Pass isn't particularly good considering that season two was complete baboon ass (the plot was all over the place and that new junior inspector mini antagonist was absolutely insufferable) and the movie being bad as well. They should just have ended it after season one, but the possibility of getting to taste more ¥ was probably too much for the studio to resist.
