It's worth it especially if you're not going to end up consuming the anime any other way. The entire main cast is at the top of their game and Megumi Ogata's Shinji is fucking gutwrenching at just the right times.

Most of the sperging I've seen about the new dub is overblown imo and I've watched most of the Netflix version after having watched the old dub about 500 times. The new Asuka is bad but I haven't gotten to the episodes where her VA would really get a chance to stretch her range. If subs aren't for you just watch the Netflix dub; I don't think you'll be so turned off that you'll quit. Ain't that bad, fam.

The english dub is horrible, all of them.

You are much better off watching some random animes. You cant get everything wrong in a dub if the anime you are dubbing is about spacegarbagemen.

Its called Planetes and its from the guy that makes those Code Geass stuff. Its nothing amazing, but good fun.

I just watched an episode where smoking was the motivation for stoping a terror attack.

Im not surprised i mean he comes pretty much as the gayest thing you could see in anime in that time, he only upgraded the gayness in Rebuild by putting them both in the EVA-13

Bonus tip to make you play V: In the introduction when Shinji ride for the first time the EVA-01, in canon the EVA stop because it drain its battery, in V he is stopped by Koji Kabuto, showing that the AT field can't do jackshit again the Photonic Ray and the Rocket Punch

I was specifically referring to NGE material. That is to say that I personally believe every series or redub so far following the Platinum release has been an inferior product. To be clear, that is not to say that I regard all anime in that light. Though I do dislike most anime and especially modern anime for lackluster storytelling elements among other such issues.

Yeah, I noticed that as well, that they're bashing the new translator for *gasp* being a weeb and liking stuff like *gasp* Strike Witches.

And the irony of their attitude about Eva is while yes, it's self reflective about otaku culture (I mean, it's Eva, self reflective is the whole point) Shinji is still a very sympathetic character, he's still the protagonist, if they think it's meant to just be a slam on otakus they're missing the point entirely (not surprising)

I get stronger and stronger douche chills with just how more and more blatantly anti-nerd SJWs are getting hypocritically enough, these hateful little cretins need to fuck off already.

I've seen that, it's pretty good.

If you like that recent slate of space movies like Gravity and The Martian, it's sorta like an anime version of that.

Its way better than those movies.
It has alot of interesting and very human storys.

The problem with Strike Witches is that if your only contact with the series is the anime (and that cringe funimation was it? promo 🤷) then you get a trashy fanservicey anime that you can easily forget, but the reason they keep pushing is because he has a dedicated fanbase of War weebs for the supplementary world building that is like someone explained to me "Is like star wars, most of the movie are trash but you got to the extend universe and you forget the movies"

I mean i know grow ass man that play Azur lane and are big fans of Guns and panzer, those fandoms normally spill to things like World of warships and War thunder so you could not differentiate them on the wild

I just find it stupid that people would be getting butthurt over a series that is over a decade old.

Makes me wonder how many of these changes are Netflix's own fault, and how many of them were imposed onto them by Khara and Anno. Because from what I heard, they're pretty involved with this redub too.
 
I'm surprised considering a lot of the bgm was referencing or downright pulling from other songs. Misato's theme in particular samples a certain song. Unfortunately I can't remember what it was
