I'm 5 episodes + movie away from finishing Gundam 00. I still have other gundams I have to continue on, but I think I'm going to celebrate finishing the series by watching one of the OVAs. I'm thinking 0083 Stardust Memory, which is compared to Top Gun a lot. I haven't watched Top Gun but I was a big fan of the Ace Combat series until Assault Horizon came out. What I'm planning to do is finish 00 tomorrow (not counting the movie), watch Top Gun and then head into 0083.
One of the other reasons is there's this 80's anime I've always wanted to check out. Metal Armor Dragonar, which was envisioned as a Gundam reboot but didn't sell as well as the most recent gundam at the time. There's no (good) subs for it, unfortunately. Looking at the openings, doesn't it look like something that should have been brought over at the time?
I mean, don't these just scream 80's to anyone else? I swear, watching these makes me feel instant nostalgia for this series despite never watching it. It's like, it should have been part of my childhood.

DBZ Movie 2015 has a title and a date now, April 18th, 2015.

Dragon Ball Z: F's Resurrection.

I for one am really excited for it. 2 hour runtime, Toriyama put "deliberately more action scenes" in it, and it comes out in Moonland shortly after my birthday.

How the hell does Frieza keep coming back but not Cell?

Nice to see Beerus is coming back.

Dragonar looks friggin' awesome! I've also just started watching Mobile Suit Gundam. It's a real solid show so far (I'm at episode 5 right now), and it's only going to get better from what I've heard. I'm also really digging the design of Gundam Unicorn. Is that series any good?

Huh, they're bringing ol' purple lips back? I guess it makes sense. After all, he is the quitessential DBZ villain who's started it all. They'll probably give him a significant power boost, otherwise he won't amout to much at this point.

I was a bit meh about Battle of Gods (then again, I'm nowhere near as much into Dragon Ball as I used to be during my early teen years), but I'll definately watch this one as well sooner or later. I mean, why not?

As for me, I've just finished the Chimera Ant arc of Hunter x Hunter after a one year hiatus, and I must say I was impressed. So much feels in the last few episodes! I discovered HXH alongside with Hajime No Ippo in 2012 when I thought I was through with Shonen stuff, and boy was it a treat! The character development is top notch, and I love the twists it puts on typical shonen tropes. Also, dat Studio Madhouse animation and score...

Oh, and I absolutely love everything by Satoshi Kon. Everything!

Outside of the Z Fighters, I don't think many people in-universe knew about Cell. The story behind it is that two of Frieza's remnant henchmen, Sorbet and Tagoma, somehow bring him back with the Dragon Balls.

Naruto ended as it began: in One Piece's shadow.
Interesting really, I'm sure though for years there had been that race to see who'd end first but I guess One Piece's juggernaut-ish feat was enough to keep it afloat.

The first half of Unicorn gets praised, the second half is heavily debated. I'm on episode 18 of Mobile Suit Gundam myself.

I often consider 1984 a pinnacle year for anime. Apart from films like "Macross: Do You Remember Love?", "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" or the second Urusei Yatsura movie "Beautiful Dreamer", you had some pretty interesting shows on the tube like these...

I really enjoyed Unicorn. The animation alone is incredible, some of the best mecha animation I've seen. I'm far from a Gundam connoisseur but it's definitely one of the favorites of the franchise. It recently came out on Blu-Ray too, I believe and I'm sure that's gorgeous.

I'm gonna post in this thread because I need to vent. The latest episode of Parasyte ends on an obnoxious cliffhanger and I'm upset and want it to be next week already.

Terribly good show, by the way.

Read the manga. It's got more charm to it IMO.

Gorg is one of my favorite series/robots and more people need to watch it. It's also aged really well. I know I'm biased toward traditional animation, but I'd say it looks better than a lot of new anime (though it might help that I like Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's style anyway).
Unfortunately, unless Gorg gets picked up by Discotek or some similar distributor, the one chance it apparently had to get released over here has long passed.

I've finally finished watching the 1974 Getter Robo, so in the not-too-distant future I'm going to start watching Mobile Suit Gundam. I have a few things I want to either start or finish watching (Ideon and Votoms being at the top) as well.

I reminded someone last summer did a podcast review on the show, but he found the series not entirely to his liking, but I think he blamed it more on having seen many things that came after Giant Gorg that it shouldn't be compared to.

You guys sound like you're pretty well versed on classical anime. I'm admittedly pretty ignorant to a lot of the classics other than big name stuff like Harlock but I've been considering picking up Space Runaway Ideon for a little while. I've read a bit about it and, to be honest, my main reason for wanting to pick it up as I've heard its a huge influence on Evangelion. Have anyone of you seen it or would recommend it?

Ideon is... an interesting show. It's a staple Tomino work, with the strange character names, and lodsadeath. I've only seen the TV series, but it's pretty enjoyable in my book. And yeah, Anno dug that shit, Tomino was a serious influence on his works like Eva.

I did not know that was fully subbed. I looked a few years ago when I was heavily into the OVAs/Manga and all I saw was the first 10 episodes.

I tried watching Votoms because I love the design of the Scopedogs back in August. I lasted like 5 episodes. In my defense, it was a hectic time at work and the anime is a little on the slow side. It just fell out of my tabs. Battles are pretty good though. I am planning on going back and finishing it sometime, but only when I need a break from Gundam.

Mobile Suit Gundam has it's ups and downs. Just don't diss the Zaku around me and we'll get along fine. Actually, expand that to all Zeon mobile suits.

I'm looking forward to Zeta Gundam more myself. Used to have this PS2 game, Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam, that focused more on Zeta's story. Loved that game, miss it dearly and want to see the real thing. Also own the trilogy version, but it's just not the same.

I've only seen the movie and it's a bit out there. Didn't quite get the same experience I had when I watched End of Evangelion for the first time (without watching the series), but it was memorable...mostly because of the little girl getting her head blown clean off by a bazooka crossing the line twice.
