I love this design.

For some reason I was watching some Dragonball Z episodes last night. It took me back to when I was in middle/high school, watching anime after school on Toonami. It kind of makes me want to rewatch animes like Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho, et. al. for nostalgia's sake. Though when rewatching some (dubbed) Sailor Moon episodes with friends I found them to not be as good as I remembered them to be when I was 10...

I want to watch the Madoka Magica movies, or at least rewatch the series. And I really need to start on Attack on Titan.

I'm pretty sure Toonami was a part of everyone's childhood.

Well yeah, that tends to happen. Censorship and stupid changes aside I'll always have a fondness for it. Katie Griffin and Susan Roman as Mars and Jupiter 4lyfe. :left:

Relax, I wasn't being literal. My point is that Gundam, DBZ and Sailor Moon were all big back then.
Didn't mean anything by it, just relating my experiences. YTV used to be great for anime until they lost interest and started promoting a bunch of live action shows instead. By the end, it was just an hour of Naruto and Bleach. They never touched Shippuden or Gundam 00. They also moved some shows to after midnight (like Ghost in the Shell) in order to play more "Canadian content" (include the worst Ghostbusters/Power Rangers ripoff I've ever seen).

I remember that show, terrible acting, writing, CGI (though the last one might have been intentional), the works.

Why was it a thing?

Canadian content quota. By law, TV stations in Canada have to air a certain number of shows that have "Canadian content." This usually translates into it being name dropped as taking place in Canada, or the odd bit with hockey or Tim Hortons.

Oh I know about Can-Con (Since I live in Atlantic Canada and all). I'm just wondering why this had to exist when there's other things they could have done instead.

I remember really loving the fluid, fluid animation of the Mardock Scramble films. The actual storyline was pretty vapid (it had a good basis as an adaptation of a book series, but they did a poor job in areas), but my god does it pop! Especially the first one. Recently I watched Bayonetta: Bloody Fate, which was fairly okay. Your standard fare, as far as video game adaptations go.

As for manga, one of the few that I have exceptionally enjoyed is the Battle Royale one. A bit cheesy, but as far as manga go it was a real page-turner.

I'm putting Gundam Wing off to finally finish Gundam X. I stopped watching X when I discovered Kamen Rider, but really love this series. But here's the thing, since I put it on hiatus I started watching a different show. And well...

It's been like that for nearly 40 years now. Obviously they're so concerned about things being 'made' there, they do take it to the extreme sometimes (this was why the 1980's Astro Boy cartoon was big in Canada due to them getting their own special French and English dub of it).

I was never really into the series but it sure does
feel weird that it's finally ending after 15 years of publication.
Not to me, at least it will end at all (Shonen Jump tends to have a tendency of these series lasting that long in print).
