Oh, also over in Full Metal Panic I guess shit's getting serious now that Sousuke has gone to train at the dojo of Florida Man.

Of course the first movie we get with actually good animation is a Broly movie.
*pantera intensifies*

And ya know to those saying this is blatant pandering to the fans and to nostalgia, given how abjectly the whole "LAWL I JUST DESTROYED EVERYTHING YOU ICKY FANBOYS LOVED ABOUT THE ORIGINAL STORIES! IM SUCH A SUBVERSIVE GENIOUS!" thing has failed with certain franchises as of late, frankly some benignly intentioned "give the people what they want and dress it up nicely" thinking is rather welcome.

...also am I the only one who saw that poster and thought it was fucking Yamcha in the background? Because a dragonball movie where yamcha just flips his shit and starts popping planets with his 30 years of accumulated blue balls and bitterness would be awesome.

There was a mission in Xenoverse 2 that was kinda like that. Was pretty entertaining

I can hear a certain groan from California. Well, we got a few months to kill before the film releases. Also, I feel bad for the people watching the dub because they are getting to the Tournament of Power Saga, and that's 54 episodes of blue balls.

Anyone else surprised that Funimation licensed Zillion? It seems like the kind of 1980s anime that, if it were to be licensed at all in this day and age, would almost certainly be licensed by Discotek. Technically, it's a "license rescue" since the first few episodes were released dubbed by Streamline Pictures back in the day, though, like with Nadia, they never finished what they started.

I have both Zillion games for the Sega Master System, though it's really only the first one (a clone of the British game Impossible Mission) that's a classic, the second one was just straight action with better graphics than the first but mediocre gameplay. But the wasted opportunity was that the Sega Light Phaser gun was modelled after the Zillion gun from the anime yet we Master System owners never got a Zillion light gun game.

Still a cool show to watch for the budding young talent of Production IG.

I think I'm going to do a nostalgic rewatch of Sailor Moon.

Not sure if I should watch the Viz re-dub (which is surprisingly good in my opinion), or try to see if I can find the old campy 90's dub for that extra dose of nostalgia.

KissAnime has the original dub, they never put up the Viz redub for some reason, so unless you were going to try and track down the DVDs (you absolute madman), that's where you go to watch it. Everywhere else I believe just has the redub, and it is the more legally/widely-available version. Or you could do both and do a compare-contrast with the two dubs, look for the pros and cons. It'd take much longer, but I imagine that would help look at it in two different perspectives, which by itself sounds like it could make for an interesting analysis in looking at how the 90s treated adaptations compared to today.

I just started watching Excel Saga with my brothers.

Send help.......................................................................ful tips.

Man, that takes me back. I actually have the DVD set somewhere. Just sit back and let the insanity guide you.

Just got Gundam 00s1 on BD, and since I won the 50/50 draw at the company BBQ I'm preordering s2 for next month. My second favorite Gundam after the original. Gonna get the entire series + Trailblazer... please let the new upcoming content not suck ass.

Gundam Build Divers has been trash.

Really miss Space Battleship Tiramisu. It really was a highlight of my week, but glad it's getting a second season this fall. If you haven't seen it already, check it out. The episodes are short and hilarious. I'm trying Konosuba as a replacement, but halfway through the first episode I've decided I'm watching it to see Aqua suffer.

Also watching the expanded edition of Psycho-Pass.

I wonder how Vic Mignogna feels about this, I'm sure Bin Shimada will be just fine, though.
This is about to be the most money he's ever made from Broly so he'll probably suck it up and not complain about his voice if it does bother him. Can't really complain that you can't do your Edward Elric voice if you're not dubbing him at the time.

Nah, there's no reason there wouldn't be. Dub fans are pretty outspoken about their dislike of the Japanese cast.

But the Japanese cast gave us character songs like this:
How can you not love them?

Excel Saga was one of the first animu's I watched alongside NGE and Nadesico. I have a soft spot for its complete stupidity and nearly random access humour.

Full Metal Panic as a series still remains my all time favourite though, and glad it's got a 4th season even though I've stopped watching it for now as I am watching it with a friend.

I feel like I am in a wonderful glut of shows this half of the summer season.

Overlord III opened awesomely and is finally focusing back on Ains while the "difficult second season" of course developed a lot of the guardians, which I can agree with.

Cells at Work! Is awesome and the Platelets are beyond adorable.

Also, who the fuck managed to make a watchable, interesting anime with Habedo! ? It's abound badminton for fuck's sake. Director has a sweat fetish though, shit starts to fly everywhere despite them opening on serves.

Another strange one I came across is Holmes of Kyoto, which actually tickled my fancy by being just a little bit different.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand my trash watches are: Angels of Death and The Master of Ragnarock.

Whew.

Oh goodie, my brother wants to watch Angels of Death with me (it's been a while since we last watched something together), and I agreed despite knowing full-well he has a really bad sense of taste. It's rare for him to blindly pick out something good, and just one look at the picture 'cause I rarely read the synopsis because you never know how much plot gets spoiled made me think this could be another Seraph of the End sort of thing.

No doubt was up Chris' alley the first time he saw it.

Reminded myself of "What's Michael?" tonight and this cutesy dance!
