Cool Miura, I didn't want to see Casca and Guts' reunion anyway. I can't wait for a year and a half to go by before we switch back to Team Hero. Even then I'm being optimistic and assuming we won't hit another hiatus.

*sigh*

shoulda known Miura would still be the worlds biggest goddamn cocktease

Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid Preps for NBA Playoffs with Dragon Ball

2017–18 All-Star and Philadelphia 76ers' center Joel Embiid showed how he relaxes before a playoff game—with a little Dragon Ball. Embiid was catching up on his anime on his iPhone X while receiving a pre-game shoulder massage. The 76ers faced the Boston Celtics last night in the first game of the semi-finals but lost 101 to 117. The teams will square off again on Thursday.

The Dragon Ball franchise seems to be a favorite among professional athletes. The Green Bay Packers' Mike Daniels went Super Saiyan in artwork for the Packers Fence last year and Dallas Mavericks' Wesley Matthews starred in a parody of the Dragon Ball Z opening. The wrestling trio The New Day entered the ring in 2016 dressed as Super Saiyans for WWE's Wrestlemania 32. MMA fighter, Olympian, actress, and author Ronda Rousey showed up to Wrestlemania in 2015 while rocking a Dragon Ball Z "It's Over 9000!!" shirt and admitted to a cartoon crush on Vegeta.

Who here still thinks the Third Impact scene from End of Evangelion makes you trip balls?

Just saw Digimon tri part 6: Our Future. Boy, it sure was something. I was honestly dreading the finale for a while since Coexistence was such a massive letdown, but I think it ended on a high note. Not as good as episode 3, but definitely a step up from 4 and 5.

Overall, I'm a bit disappointed that Gatomon didn't get much screentime until the last third since she was a part of Ordinemon, but it did keep the tension up and I was happy to see that they at least didn't kill her off.

Wizardmon's cameo was nice, but he had only 10 seconds of screentime and wasn't even shown from the front so it's a bit weird how they teased his appearance with his hat being hidden in the movie poster.

Near the beginning, I didn't see clearly what this was so at first I thought it was Myotismon coming back for the third time. Looking back it's quite obviously Kennai, but a cloaked figure hanging upside-down and the bats coming to Ordinemon's aid, I couldn't help but think we were going to get NeoMyotismon:

I knew that there was going to be some way to undo the mind wipe after the reboot, and I was honestly happy to see the way they did it. Might have been a huge deus ex machina to some, but I'm just happy they didn't erase the digimon's memories from the past 6 years for nothing. Though Gatomon would have probably preferred not remembering Myotismon and Wizardmon's death.

I also knew that there were going to be some amount of Takari teasing, but I think everyone has long since accepted that Toei is never going to make it canon. Hikari's reaction to Taichi's assumed death was pretty well done at first, she was completely catatonic like I expected, but it was shattered a bit when Taichi came back and the first thing Hikari says to him is "Hey bro, if you kill Ordinemon I'll probably hate you forever but I'm gonna help you fight her anyway!"

Also they acknowledged the Zero Two gang, holy shit! Seeing the silhouettes in the healing pods and hearing Taichi actually utter Daisuke's name out loud made me quite pleased, even though we didn't actually see or hear from the 02 kids at all. In addition, I loved that call-forward to the Zero Two epilogue with Yamato's comment about becoming an astronaut!

Daigo's death was predictable but it was still quite the sad scene, he was a fun character and I wish he would have made it to the end.

As expected, the climax was a tad rushed because Coexistence wasted 2/3 of its running time on filler so they didn't have much time here, but there was still at least a semi-satisfactory conclusion. Omnimon's transformation is a bit silly, but I thought it looked really cool. I do wish that Ophanimon was Gatomon's Mega level evolution instead of Magnadramon, she was on screen for maybe a minute anyway so it didn't really matter which form she got and Ophanimon was much cooler, not to mention Hurricane Touchdown isn't really canon so they didn't have to use Magnadramon.

A ton of things were unfortunately left unanswered: What Yggdrasil and Homeostasis actually were? Who is Kennai, and what is his end goal? Where is Himekawa? Is she even alive? Is Meicoomon permanently dead? What was Yggdrasil's plan that the 02 Kids and Gennai uncovered? What was up with Alphamon? What was the point of even introducing Meiko and shafting the 02 kids if you were just going to have her move to the other side of the country by the end? What exactly was the infection? What was the black cube that Kennai picked up at the end?

I'm fairly certain Tri is going to get a follow-up, the sequelbaiting was pretty strong with all of the unanswered questions, Meicoomon's fate and especially Kennai and his comments about Daemon and Diaboromon. Hopefully it'll focus more on the Zero Two gang and a little less on Meiko!

The Ordinemon ass shots were quite gratutious and I didn't really get the point of them, I wouldn't even say it was fanservice since Ordinemon is designed to be quite hideous. It was just awkward.

And to finish things up, Gatomon's human disguise in the Real World is adorable:

In conclusion, I expected something much worse so I was pleasantly surprised and I'm curious & hopeful about where the franchise is going to go next!

Hoo boy, I'm gonna probably open Pandora's box here, since I've been really passionate about my distaste for what Tri has become.

*cracks knuckles*

I knew that there was going to be some way to undo the mind wipe after the reboot, and I was honestly happy to see the way they did it. Might have been a huge deus ex machina to some, but I'm just happy they didn't erase the digimon's memories from the past 6 years for nothing. It was completely obvious the Digimon were getting their memories back--if they didn't that would've actually made me more angry because the reboot temporarily killed off Gatomon as a character. Yeah, I'm biased about Gatomon, but by pretending her memories getting erased was okay because it meant she no longer remembered her abused life (and thus her maturity and strength that she earned from being a survivor) was the equivalent of sweeping the existence of actual abuse victims under the rug. It was pretty detestable that they were going in that direction.

However, I'm calling bullshit on this reveal of Meicoomon having had the backup data on her this whole time. She was corrupted, thanks to the Apocalymon data that was implanted in her. Unless Izzy's such a proficient hacker that he was able to unscramble and fix any and all corrupted files of memories, there's no way these memory files could've been salvaged. And even then, just why was Meicoomon able to have backup data? What was this "accident" Izzy was trying to explain, anyway?

"Hey bro, if you kill Ordinemon I'll probably hate you forever but I'm gonna help you fight her anyway!"

This is such a fucking retarded line that it derails Kari's character with that backpedaling-induced whiplash. She's only angry about this because Gatomon sappily told her Meicoomon was suffering the most and yet it's like she conveniently forgot that Meiko is completely okay with the fact they have to kill Meicoomon. Because it was the only other way.

In addition, I loved that call-forward to the Zero Two epilogue with Yamato's comment about becoming an astronaut!

It came off as more of a throw-away line to me, honestly. It was so last-minute.

Daigo's death was predictable but it was still quite the sad scene, he was a fun character and I wish he would have made it to the end.

Daigo deserved better. Meanwhile, Maki's nowhere to be seen. Just like the real plot.

I've decided that it's canon that Gatomon has a split evolution. Because there's no way you can get Ophanimon Falldown Mode without Ophanimon.

A ton of things were unfortunately left unanswered: What Yggdrasil and Homeostasis actually were?

All we know is they're basically the equivalent of God of the Digital World. Savers and X-Evolution have already tackled Yggdrasil, yet they thought it was a great idea to bring him into the Adventure-verse when it previously wasn't (except maybe in the novels, much like the revelation the Sovereigns were the original DigiDestined's Digimon partners was), and then they completely squandered it, as well as the Royal Knights. For the umpteenth time. But now that Yggdrasil has been shut down, it's completely pointless to the Adventure-verse as-is.

Who is Kennai, and what is his end goal?

Who the fuck knows, but he's going to go after Demon or Diaboromon, apparently. That was a load of bullshit for him to give that wink to the audience, especially since the Demon plot-thread has been left hanging for years and this could've been the perfect opportunity to resolve it.

But Toei doesn't give a shit.

Where is Himekawa? Is she even alive?

I have a feeling Toei's answer is "Fuck you, give us money."

Is Meicoomon permanently dead?

Most likely. Someone did point out that it looks like Izzy has her data on his laptop, so there could be a resurrection in the future, but I think there needs to be a certain amount of data to form a DigiEgg. If I remember right, I believe it's been stated before that Digimon can't reform into a DigiEgg if there's not enough uncorrupted data to be used without having to recycle to create a completely new Digimon (as in, a new individual of that Digimon, therefore there'd be holes in the memories, or none at all).

What was Yggdrasil's plan that the 02 Kids and Gennai uncovered?

Apparently it's the "destroy all humans" plan, but Toei doesn't give a shit about the 02 kids.

Also since that is Gennai in the pod with them, that makes my personal head-canon of Gennai being more willing to be helpful and buddy-buddy with the 02 kids than the original eight even funnier. It's still fucked up that we have no clue who this Not-Gennai is, though, and why he was doing all of this heinous shit.

God, why did this six-part series have to have an open ending? "Fuck you, give us money", that's why.

What was up with Alphamon?

Who the fucks knows, he follows Yggdrasil's commands without question. I'm actually surprised we didn't get to see him again and have him be all "YOU BETRAYED ME" for like the third time in this franchise. Alphamon's a fucking idiot.

What was the point of even introducing Meiko and shafting the 02 kids if you were just going to have her move to the other side of the country by the end?

Who the hell knows at this point, but I like to believe it's similar to Sakuya from Tenchi in Tokyo, in that she may actually be a self-insert. Tri's screenwriter is a woman, after all.

What exactly was the infection? What was the black cube that Kennai picked up at the end?

It's Apocalymon's data. No, I have no fucking clue where Not-Gennai got it from when Apocalymon was to have completely imploded himself into oblivion at the end of the first season. That was another reveal of Meicoomon that made me flip because it didn't make sense then, and it still doesn't now.

I feel dirty for having fallen for Toei's usual fuckery. And like the battered, co-dependent bitch I am, I will end up crawling back to Toei and painfully smile with swollen lips and cheeks when they release more Digimon shit.

The Ordinemon ass shots were quite gratutious and I didn't really get the point of them, I wouldn't even say it was fanservice since Ordinemon is designed to be quite hideous. It was just awkward.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought that was uncalled for. Fuck, who thought that was a good idea?

And to finish things up, Gatomon's human disguise in the Real World is adorable:

It is. Gabumon's moment with Matt was great, too, that's like honestly the only other thing I liked in this movie.

I find myself weirdly humming the new Black Clover OP to myself every now and then, it is extremely catchy!

So, I have recently begun rewatching Gundam Wing for the first time in like a decade and a half, and I am surprised at how good it held up. I do want to watch the other Gundam series as well, and I am thinking of starting Gundam SEED after I finish Gundam Wing.

Has anyone watched the new anime airing Megalo Box? It's pretty dope so far. The music is also pretty good. It's like a re-envisioned version of that old anime Ashita no Joe. I think it's only getting 13 episodes so I don't think it's going to end like the original did.

I keep hearing about Megalo Box, and I'm just sitting here thinking "Should I watch Ashita no Joe first or no?" So should I, or is it a good stand-alone?

^You don't need to watch Ashita no Joe before you watch Megalo Box. It's good on it's own.
