Holy shit, that's unbelievable. This comment from the police department, "it may have been due to illness", gives me some nasty flashbacks to Miyu Matsuki's death from pneumonia while Shinometa (Anna was her last role) was still airing, and is making me think there's a nasty can of worms to be opened when it comes to the industry. Like are popular voice actors just not allowed to take time off unless it's really serious? (I'm not watching Dragon Ball Super right now, so I don't know when the last time any of her characters had a speaking role.)
I'm not all that familiar with her work since I mainly watched the works she was in dubbed (anything that was subbed I just can't recall the voices of most characters anyway), but I can't deny it's a big fucking deal such a prolific voice actor has died so suddenly like this. The poor woman, I hope she can still rest in peace despite leaving her work unfinished.
I know what you mean. I've noticed this trend of Japanese voice actors dying from pneumonia (Rokuro Naya, Miyu Matsuki, Toru Ohira) and wondered if this was another case.
I don't watch many subs myself and have only watched one of those animes with her I listed above (Dragon Ball), but still feel pretty sad about it.
