Holy shit, that's unbelievable. This comment from the police department, "it may have been due to illness", gives me some nasty flashbacks to Miyu Matsuki's death from pneumonia while Shinometa (Anna was her last role) was still airing, and is making me think there's a nasty can of worms to be opened when it comes to the industry. Like are popular voice actors just not allowed to take time off unless it's really serious? (I'm not watching Dragon Ball Super right now, so I don't know when the last time any of her characters had a speaking role.)

I'm not all that familiar with her work since I mainly watched the works she was in dubbed (anything that was subbed I just can't recall the voices of most characters anyway), but I can't deny it's a big fucking deal such a prolific voice actor has died so suddenly like this. The poor woman, I hope she can still rest in peace despite leaving her work unfinished.

I know what you mean. I've noticed this trend of Japanese voice actors dying from pneumonia (Rokuro Naya, Miyu Matsuki, Toru Ohira) and wondered if this was another case.

I don't watch many subs myself and have only watched one of those animes with her I listed above (Dragon Ball), but still feel pretty sad about it.

Japanese voice actress Hiromi Tsuru, was found dead in her car today at age 57. The cause is not yet known.
She's best known in anime as the voice of Bulma in "Dragon Ball", Ukyo Kuonji in "Ranma 1/2" and Meryl Strife in "Trigun" - too many to list.

Rest in Peace

As well as... let's see, the lead role in classic WMT show Perrine Monogatari... Dokin-chan in Anpanman?... A quite illustrious resume, really.

I would not doubt that with the workload a lot of Japanese voice actors have, combined with Japan's notorious workaholic system, there's a problem akin to the kind animators have.

I got bored with One Punch Man by the halfway point when it first aired, so I didn't have very high expectations going into Mob Psycho 100, but I felt it was a much better concept (and aesthetics as a whole).

Quick correction, it was Bones who did Mob Psycho, and apparently a new studio may have been involved with One Punch Man alongside Madhouse, but I can't quite find the source that claims it. Regardless, season two's been passed on to J.C. Staff and a new director. Not sure if fanboys have thrown fits about that yet.
From what I've seen, they're complaining. Though not as much as I anticipated.

They're supposedly saying it's because of heart failure, actually. Which is even worse than pneumonia if you ask me, considering it isn't always as obvious as that illness. To make matters worse, they apparently found her unconscious in her car and pronounced dead there and then.

And while I hate being insensitive, at the same time, I can't help but feel slightly relieved that it happened during the Tornament of Power instead of earlier. Still bites that she passed away at that young of an age regardless.

I have the unsettling feeling that most of Dragonballs original cast will die during Super long as hell run. A lot of them aren't getting any younger and Toei/Bandai been pushing really hard lately with the franchise. Masako is 81 and has the misfortune of voicing three important characters. I just hope they at least thinking some sort way to relief the work load on them.

Yeah, Anime News Network reported it was found to be aortic dissection, which is really freaking nasty and definitely life-threatening since it's common with those with high blood pressure and those with a history of connective tissue diseases and even a previous heart surgery.

So although it's sudden, I don't think this was as quick and painless as we'd like to believe. Who knows how long she was there on the side of the road for, it's just heartbreaking that she suffered like that alone.

The Tournament of Power will apparently end in March, and assuming it's the last arc of Super (but not the end of Dragon Ball) I don't think it'll happen. Nozawa is a fucking champ though, at 81 I don't think I could be energetically screaming a lot for a career.

I doubt it was krōshi. Aortic dissection is the kind of shit that happens out of the blue, as famously with John Ritter. Also, she would have been in the business for forty fucking years next year. You don't die from exhaustion just working on a voice or two when you used to do so many of the most famous anime heroines simultaneously back in the day.

I doubt super ending anytime soon. it will last for like 400 episodes for no good reason other then it's dragon ball. We'll most likely hearing about the next arc around February. But i won't be surprised if Hiromi Tsuru sudden passing results in some form delay down the road.

I could see Super ending specifically because it's still pre-end of Z. If they continued the story further there's not much else they can do now without just having things occur after the tournament with Uub, so I would think that they'd split that into a new production. Dragon Ball won't end, especially with its merch sales now passing Gundam's, but Super eventually will.

Speaking of Dragon Ball, Toriyama hasn't been paying his taxes.

Sad to hear. I really liked her voice.

For super, I can see one last arc involving the remaining 4 universes, which are not in the tourney.
There's also not much time left, before they reach the end of the time skip. Unless they want to go on even after Zs ending, I dont see super lasting past 2018.

I'd love to see the strongest four universes being Goku's destinations when he starts training Uub. I really want them to show the master-student bond between them, GT had way too little of that (and also shafted Uub way harder than any other character imo) and especially with the updated manga ending showing Goku seeing himself in Uub riding Nimbus there's a lot of potential there.

Heavy Object is a very very very very laid back bro anime. I'm enjoying it.

Dragon Ball Ultra or Hyper when?

Okay, so two things. One, found this pretty hilarious edit of the Bike Comic.

And two...a video on the comparison between Samurai Pizza Cats and the anime it was adapted from.

I'm going to note that when he talks about the rumors about the scripts they were given being either lost or poor quality - that's not the rumor; that is the actual story. One of the translators for the show is on record as saying that despite the rumors that went around, they were sent scripts; poorly translated scripts, but scripts nonetheless.

It is refreshing, finally, to see someone who notes that the original Japanese show is very similar to its English version in humor; the English version translates the attitude of the show if not the jokes.

So I don't know what the hell this "Grand Tour" even is yet, but I'm starting to think "GT" should stand for "Godtier Trolling". I don't hate the show right now, Baby's not a bad idea for a Dragon Ball villain, but am I wrong for thinking that?

GT had some good ideas, they were just not handled well. I would compare GT to a McDonald's burger. It a not very great tasting filler to hold you over and its not something you'll proudly love to eat again if given the choice.

Same here. I love the idea of the consequences of using the Dragon Balls too quickly without letting them "vent" all the negative energy out will cause them to scatter across the universe, and if you receive them in time the Earth will be destroyed! . Well, I think that's the idea to the Black Star Dragon Balls in GT.

You can see I haven't watched GT. It looks okay, compared to the early sagas for Super; since they're repeats of the two latest DBZ movies. But the Tournament of Power has been fun so far. Even though it's expected to end around March!
