All I'm saying is they weren't terrible shows. Like average isn't bad and yeah some like Devilman Crybaby haven't aged well but that doesn't diminish that it was enjoyed and seen as a good show.

Sure, that doesn't mean that the show cant be potentially bad, but I think that we won't know until it actually comes out. It also doesn't take away from the fact that there are people that like the manga for ghosts in the Shell and acting like everyone who likes it just likes tranny slop when the show came out long before any of this shit was going on is kind of wild

There's no reasoning with this particular slavic subhuman. Anything even remotely humorous is "Marvel writing" and anything that isn't Sharia level censorship is "gooner" because he suffers from erectile disfunction (asexuality) and doesn't understand.

It also doesn't go back and make the stuff that you do like retroactively bad either. "Well I don't like the manga". Okay, whatever, just go rewatch Standalone Complex for the seventh time then, that's still just as good as it's always been. If I had to guess I would say that anime is probably more widespread than manga in the western communities. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people who saw the 90s movie or and following adaptations never read the source material at any point. So its probably some kind of whiplash in terms of visuals and tone.

I don't follow your criticism at all. The manga is quite different from already existing adaptations. It is certainly less serious but not even remotely "Marvel" tier. Motoko is BI in the manga and there is some explicit content but gooner is such a hollow and reductive "argument". Is any depictions of A&T a problem or just in this case for some reason ? GitS SAC has also some "gooner" scenes btw. Or is this somehow related to Science SARU as a studio ?

Oh absolutely, and I prefer the anime myself but I wouldn't call either bad and I genuinely don't understand the people like Tired Cat who get violently fothing at the mouth angry over the manga.

This is the western anime/manga scene as a whole tbh. There's very little crossover between people who read manga and people who watch anime so it's a constant ongoing source of friction in western otaku spaces whenever a manga gets an anime adaptation.
