I'm sad to say that I forgot we were on the internet so I have to clarify that this post I am retweeting was sarcastic. This video is a moment that was mostly cut from my recent upload and changed into a one-liner about Bâan not being anime so I thought I would expand upon it here. I just find it strange that Garnt has been in the anime community for like what... 15+ years?
He knows that anime fans distinctly see anime as a product of Japanese culture and do not consider things that were made by non Japanese people to be anime. There are thousands of pages of old forum post arguing whether Avatar is an anime or not and the answer is no. However the show is good. So I find it insulting that he titles his documentary "The YouTuber Who Made a Real Anime" when he knows that people don't consider it anime if the creator is not Japanese. I mean Garnt can't even speak Japanese... like... at all. Bâan is not anime. I find it particularly offensive to see of him diluting the definition of anime by saying there is Chinese anime now and, "Me and my friends who also don't speak Japanese at all are now creating a manga."
This is exactly what Filthy Frank was making fun of in his Weeabo video. Even to the point where he ironically calls Corey In the House anime. He's making fun of people like Garnt.Never have I been so tortured as I was having to watch Garnt's 2 hour therapy session that he called a documentary that, much like his "anime," was clearly made out of self-indulgence and not out of care for the audience. The story-telling in Bâan was so ass that no one would have watched it if Garnt didn't call it an anime.Stuff like this why Trash Taste was used as a metaphor to explain the problems we are having in America.
Trash Taste is not just a good metaphor for immigrants in America who refuse to learn English, they are also HUGE promoters of doing everything that anime fans have said they hate for the past 25 years. They are diluting Japanese culture by promoting mass immigration and overtourism and now Garnt, Daidus, and Emirichu are pulling this shit where they are trying to dilute the definiton of anime. If you guys were actually good at story telling, you wouldn't have to do that to sell your stories. Anime is a representation of Japanese culture and Japanese values. The Japanese take on storytelling is why people gravitate to anime. None of you guys grew up in Japan, none of you speak Japanese, and because of that none of you actually understand Japanese culture. Also Garnt is a shit writer so... there's that too.
