Except the Lancer vs Saber fight had both do the "we only use 10% of our real power", so it still doesn't make sense. It's plain serial escalation when the original VN and Zero were far more grounded. And mana consumption was "addressed" by handwaving it with masters doing ritual sacrifice to have infinite mana. While the VN had mana generation be a major plot line for Saber and Caster.
You know who suffer from this? Astolfo from Fate. He is just a cheerful dude who wants to help people and be a hero and the "fans" all make them is to be a trap or tranny and ignore everything else. The writers aren't doing this, but the "fans". It is really sad, since Astolfo is quite a cool character
Yeah like how Caster had...infinite mana by sacrificing people. She also tapped into the leylines of Fuyuki like how Tine does for Gilgabuddy. It's almost like these Masters (besides Flat and Tsubaki) are actually smart in how they approach a Grail War given they had plenty of time to prepare for it.
And even despite all that Caster does 1% of the shit that every other character does in the series, and needs to constantly protect her avenues of charging it. It wasn't just a "lol I have infinite mana because plot so you can constantly do flashy moves".
