It depends on if things are happening during the co-bathing/sleeping (and it may be possible). Children typically bathe with parents until at the cusp of puberty, and they may still sleep together in the same futon/room if there's not enough space in the apartment, or if they are that gung-ho about tradition.

Also skinship is a normal thing in Asia.

Asian culture is weird.

I don't see how anyone can take Lloyd DeMause that seriously. His entire career is based around conjecturing that human society was massively influenced by literally every human culture abusing, raping, and murdering their kids. Even his short bits about Japan are among a bunch of claims about other countries. He wrote thousands of words about how Christianity encourages child abuse and rape, is all about group fantasizing about God torturing and killing his son Jesus as an outlet for people wanting to abuse their own kids, and that in the Middle Ages European fathers commonly raped their daughters and mothers commonly jerked off their young sons, and that the little amount of court papers of parents getting punished for raping their kids is proof that it was so omnipresent and accepted that parents weren't punished for it. He also wrote at length about how World War II and Germany's antisemitism was caused by German mothers abusing, neglecting, and killing their infants so such an extent that you could commonly find dead babies abandoned all over the place and Germans who survived grew up believing that the lesser races needed to have their unworthy purged just like their mothers killing the unworthy children.

Yet for some reason, people only ever bring up this guy's claims about Japanese people when they want to make fun of anime, or sometimes his claims about Abbos when talking about how retarded they are.
