Is the OPM manga actually worth reading? Season 1 did nothing for me
If you didn't care much for the first season of the anime, then I wouldn't think the manga would do something different to win you over. If you do read it, I would suggest reading the original webcomic by ONE instead. Murata's version is good at first, but at some point it gets bogged down a combination of padding things out like an anime trying to avoid catching up to its source manga, taking itself too seriously and scaling up some of the stuff Saitama and some others do as if trying to one-up the the webcomic, going back and rewriting old chapters to retcon things, and completely changing much of the climax of the big story arc for some reason. The webcomic is also just going be a brisker read, too. Of course, the webcomic is also not finished yet, it's in the middle of the next big story arc and its update schedule is erratic to say the least.

So I picked up Legend of the Galactic Heroes since I've heard good things about it and have been itching for some good non-gundam war shit to watch. It's pretty enjoyable so far.
I do like LoGH but I swear my biggest pet peeve with the series is that all the likeable or interesting characters are on the Empires side, everyone in the FPA are pretty much either a Yang boot licker who did nothing but parrot how smart he is, or a one dimensional idiot designed to cause trouble for Yang. I know its a meme about Julia being a hysterical women that needs to be taken away, but she does come off as the worst kind of pacifist, the ones that believes in peace at any and all costs, even if in this case it means fully surrendering all freedoms to the empire and not once is she challenged on it. Trunicht felt like a caricature of a real politician, and I wouldn't be surprised if the author made him a thinly vailed model of someone in the LPD since even with a rudimentary grasp of post war jap political shit, you can see where a lot problems in the FPA took inspiration from
I even got annoyed with Yang some times when started going on how war always bad or region always leads to violence, ignoring how he personally profited by the war by getting a free degree albeit getting derailed and shoehorned in to a military position and ignoring the fact that Rudolf murdered half the galaxy first, then started to larp as divinely appointed god emperor of mankind nix being eternally stuck on a golden torture device.

Bleach is still the best shonen for character designs. The guys are badasses and the girls are hot, as it should be.
Late but I pull you the checkmate of Giselle Gewelle, the femboy (or tranny that they really are trying to get puffing, and for once I can actually blame Disney for this!)

That's sad, at least having the support and memory of the work is helping the guy.

I do recommend Umaru-chan for people who want a fun watch that doesn't devolve into a guy wanting to fuck his otaku sister.

Which reminds me, holy shit Oreimo was so fucking bad, I'm happy it was wiped out from collective memory. Apperantly the manga ending killed any goodwill that remained, heard it was something along the line that the childhood friend was a crazy stalker, the actual sane love interest broke up with the MC, and the series ends on him telling his parents he wants to marry his sister and getting disowned.
When best girl was a fujo

I haven't even started any of the blood war shit, but what happens to the rest of the quiggers? I know Bambietta gets zombified or something stupid.

I am not much of an anime watcher, besides the normie shit I consumed as a child (Pokemon, Digimon, Yu Gi Oh) but I just started Hajime No Ippo on Netflix and I’m utterly hooked on it. I miss this kind of anime style.

If sports anime is your thing, i would recommend Megalo Box (atleast the first season).

The MC broke up with the sensible love interest, which makes it crazier. It's quite a feat for a manga to create a character that's basically everyone's idea of a perfect nerd girl & who becomes everyone's favorite character, only to have the MC dump her in favor of his sister.

Last I checked, there's an 'alternate' manga where the MC gets with Kuroneko (the girl everyone liked), and another where he gets with his sister's violently protective best friend.
The sister was completely insufferable mary sue, I think the worse episode in the anime is the filler where she gets an anime for her manga she writes under a pseudonym.

I sperged on it a lot. The sides in the story are extremely unbalanced. The Alliance is comically inept and Yang is never really challenged, especially his argument that politics and military shouldn't mix, which is both retarded and hypocritical, since it is true for any "famous" profession, and paves the way to career politicians which are a blight to humanity.
The empire itself is too orderly post civil war and Reinhard is unbelievably perfect, especially in how he has an eye for people.
It also irked me how the empire is the only side with new technology, despite logically and historically it should suffer the most from academical stagnation and even if Reinhard tried to reverse the issues, it would have take at least a decade to reverse.

Looks like someone would love to have a literal space nobility in charge. Then again, after seeing the level of the politicians today, an ubermensch noble emperor doesn't sound too bad.
What I remember is that they used tons of spaceships as disposable drones, which felt odd.

I hate you for bringing this dogshit up AND killing a few braincells on the holidays.
Japs love lolis and younger sisters waay too much.

It did end on a note that everything can turn to shit really fast if the next generation isn't up to snuff, but realistically the empire would be fucked well beforehand after losing the two most capable people in it.

An argument that I've heard (and hope is true) is that the only people lusting after sisters are ones that never had one.

While Reinhard at least some people opposing him, I was surprised no one tried to use the emperors sudden death as propaganda against him since it be easy to spin the golden brat as a fucking degenerate that wants to fuck his on sister and willing to poison the emperor to do so, after all incest is as common for nobles as shitting on peasants.
That being said I still think Oberstein was the worst written on the empires side, He felt like he had no plan and was just a scheming backstabber for the sake of it, and his whole number 2 person bad was generally retarded since you need some form of line of succession, especially if Reinhard had died of space aids a lot earlier in the story.
Without it you'd get something like a Space Wars of the Diadochi which would of been a whole cluster fuck in itself.

I thought of Oberstein being there primarily to put out fires and deal with every thing that would look back. He also willingly took out bad publicity as a shadow government, leaving Reinhard and his cadre looking saintly by comparison.
I don't know how to tell you...

But Alabama is a real place in the USA.
Meant specifically for Otaku, but there are probably some in Alabama as well.

I read an article once that talked about a long standing tradition of mothers.... CWCing their sons so that they can spend more time studying without being distracted by their love quests.

Incest for better grades. Wow.
I remember hearing that and thinking it was a meme
and then it came up in this article about incest

I'm normally one to be skeptical of such things devoted solely to one aspect of sexuality-this article even has some of that faggot historical revisionism-but the bit were they mention modern surveys and call in centers about incestuous abuse lended some credence.

A shame it muddies the waters with
the wide extent even today of co-sleeping and co-bathing
like, what the fuck?

come on, man
