How's the series/manga ? Looks interesting as long as it is more slice of life than anything else.

Also made the unfortunate discovery that Somali and the Forest Spirit got discontinued ages ago. It's fine, not like I enjoyed the anime immensely.
I don't think I've seen it sadly, might read the manga

Witch Hat kind of goes to shit when some annoying brown cripple kid shows up and a gay couple plays a central role because of a mind erasure plot line. It’s not just that I hate those, just they coincide and they are poorly done within the arc itself. Worse it’s two fags who have a girl boss captain.

Amazed it's still going on, last read it 5 years ago. The art was gorgeous but it suffered from trying to explain the magic system rather than embrace the childish wonder.

I feel like most magic system kind of need the “we aren’t sure”. Making magic a science or codified system rather than a Byzantine system of rituals and rites is gay. I’ve always liked the settings where there are no set rules on how to access it. It itself is a living thing.

I actually like the concept of magic breaking the laws of thermodynamics and capable of making a perpetual motion engine because. The absurdity of it, is what makes it cool. The rarity and dedication help the mystery.

How the magic system works relates to the inciting incident of the whole premise though. It's a core concept from chapter 1 and the basis of all the major events, factions, and the driving mysteries of the story. Dumb. Imagine if you said this about FMA.
(It's also pretty good as magic systems go, although as a result it has the silliest looking magic circles of any manga by a wide margin, since it's the only one that tells you what the glyphs and their positions mean and stuff instead of simply trying to draw them as cool as possible.)

Anyway to answer the question it's a pretty good series but don't expect things to move in a hurry, it's slow burn for a long time before shit begins hitting the fan.
I think it's been a couple years for me too, I should pick it up again. Thanks for reminding me.

FMA has a whole reveal that everything is bullshit though. My issue with Witch Hat is that the setting is incredibly boring with the reveal.

I watched it a couple of weeks ago and all I can say is it's one of those instances in which the opening >>>>>>>>> the actual anime itself and the only instance of "it would've been better without the mecha" I can think of, the actual spaceship battles were much more interesting.

When I sat down to watch a show called BASTARD, I did not expect anything close to this...

the show's rad though. Fanservice, comedy, good action, good characters, a bizarrely wholesome relationship between a world conquering dark wizard and a tomboy...

Really loved Angel Cop as you might be able to tell but I am also looking for more or similar Anime with a right wing kindof twist, a nationalist twist.

Maybe you're referring to something that happened after I put it down but I'm a China Mieville fan so I'm a sucker for worlds weirdly scarred by ancient magical fuckups. So I thought it seemed pretty interesting given that we haven't (or hadn't?) actually seen much of it yet.

The dub cracks me up. Daran Norris as Dark Snyder was perfect casting, and I'm sad he was never reconsidered for the new series.

Honestly, the same sort of problem with making magic too technical and codified happened in the Flying Witch manga for a while, especially with the arc where Makoto underwent testing to determine exactly what kind of witch she will become, which is around the point where the manga stopped being as interesting to me, but the author dialed overexplaining the magic system back down and the past couple of years of the Flying Witch manga (with very infrequent chapters) have been about on par with the earliest part of the manga that got adapted into the one season Flying Witch anime back in spring 2016.

Yeah, speaking of Bastard and Miura... I'm "noticing" a lot of things. At first glance characters like Schneider, Gara, and Arshes bear a striking resemblance to Griffith, Guts, and Casca. Amon is basically Adon. There are 4 Demon Kings and a Dark God which immediately made me think of the Godhand. And there's even a cursed suit of armor which devoirs the wearer to a skeleton... The inspiration seems pretty obvious. Hell the imagery alone is giving me Eclipse flashbacks...

Started watching Umamusume Cinderella, holy shit it's even better than the original series. Better visuals, a lot more humour (that really gives me Nichijou vibes) and Oguri Cap is a retarded adorable badass.
