I expected Shin Chan to be like 18+ style vile immature shit but I was surprised. Apparently he's considered wholesome in Japan. When it originally aired he was seen as a sign of moral decay and indecency.

The fact that they just threw shit at the wall to see if it stuck for the dub is hilarious though. I understand the purists who want the original but the show is what like 900 episodes and 30 movies or something. Costly.

Is it just me or is it hard to understand what a lot of the SxF dub is saying? Particularly with Anya and it doesn't help because there aren't dubtitles.

So I started watching the Giant Robo OVA because I wanted to watch robots fighting and they were the guys who did Big O. It’s pretty good, we’ll animated and a decent story.

There’s really no actual robot fighting and Robo has almost no actual bearing in the plot with the plot itself being more the result of the failure to communicate more than anything else.

A sequel covering a final confrontation with Big Fire would have been warranted in 1999, but I wouldn’t trust one made today.

Been slacking off for a while, but back reading JoJo's. Have only three volumes left from Diamond is Unbreakable. I don't expect my opinion to change too much since I watched the anime adaptation a long time ago so I comparing it to the first three parts I would rate it as follows: Battle Tendency -> Diamond is Unbreakable -> Stardust Crusaders -> Phantom Blood. Since I have seen Golden Wind, but still will read it for completion’s sake, I would put it dead last.

Btw, any manga or anime that is somewhat similar to Blame! or Gantz ? Regardless if the similarities are storywise or just related to the art style.

I never really understood the hype for Golden Wind. It had some interesting bits but almost everyone was underdeveloped from the massive fucking cast and Giorno may as well just not exist as a character when Bruno is there to be the real protagonist. Couldn't get into Stone Ocean and, considering how it ended, it was probably best I left it where it was.

So the bus arc finally begins, the preview has Anya having a fucking bomb collar being pur on her. It really went from 0 to 100.

Kinda topical that the leftwing terrorists are the ones targeting kids.
Yes, and this is where the season is going to kick off proper. SxF has been good all season long. Haven't had many shows on my docket, but the ones I've had have been good. Sanda has been fucking nuts as @Red Dragon can attest. Also been watching Towa no Yuugure, which is a fun Sci fi story that's also anime original, with androids and set in a distant future shit.

You just reminded me of something. Chris Patton went on this kind of rant about GS (ironically he was Enema Man in Crayon Shin Chan) on Halloween. He says he is tired of talking about the show but maybe.....be grateful?

He failed to mention that the Japanese licensor i believe, specifically told them they could do what they wished as long as they stuck to the plot of the episode and didn't deviate.

Anyway ahhh the picture of Loid. He's so handsome. I love him as a protagonist.
I'm pretty tired of seeing GS too tbh. Mostly because the ones that wrote those jokes and voiced them are the same fucking bitches that get mad at us for making jokes of the same kind,

This season is definitely better than Season 2, not that I didn't like that one, but you can't beat war and milfs.

I'll probably binge Sanda around Christmas time.

Watching OPM fans have a meltdown over the anime after sucking its cock when it first aired is a little cathartic, almost euphoric.
The difference is the first season isn't animated/adapted like shit while the newest season IS.
I don't really understand the backlash over OPM. Yes, the animation was better in the first season, but clearly that level of production wasn't sustainable or else we'd have more of it.

Personally I'd rather have more of the anime at the cost of animation quality than have no anime at all. I want to see where the story goes and reading manga is for faggots.

Ironically, it's like half Doraemon in that I want it to continue for a long time, but the show dies in normality and routine, so it can't be Doraemon if it wants to retain its large audience and intrigue. I hope the series can avoid that trap considering Endo's other works.
It is, it will. The reason I stopped watching was reading some interview where it sounded like it was manufactured for exactly that and he has zero actual investment in it.

Rip, Stone Ocean's one of the better ones. Shit actually happens, the Forgottings are at a minimum, and they never end up on homosexual boat namek like fucking Golden Wind. I won't say the ending wasn't retarded--it's Jojo, it's all retarded--but if you didn't know it was coming it was one of the nuttier and more fun ones.

It's not that it's not as good, it's just fucking abysmal by any sort of standard. Entire minutes at a time where the only animation is the lip flaps of characters or a slowly panning camera. The pacing is pretty bad too, where it took four episodes for really anything of substance to actually occur.

There's always something neat added in. And there's always some shitty change or scene added in.
Yeah, I am not saying don't watch anime, but especially for shōnen it's just asking for trouble. So from my experience it's always a safe bet to read the original and then maybe watch the adaptation. The only case where I prefer the anime over its source material is Ghost in the Shell.

Even good adaptations like Dragon Ball Z add things in for one reason or another. Anime is a great but I will always recommend people read the Manga, because time constraints on an anime can cause massive pacing issues that don't exist in the source material.
