The anime has been popping up in recommendations as of late, I've noticed. Probably is a sign I should get to it ASAP, since I've had plans to watch it for like three years at this point.
and I can't stand anything CLAMP.
I don't blame you, honestly. Outside of
Cardcaptor Sakura (even though I've actually been complaining about some issues I have with it for a year now), as much as I love their art, that's all they have going for them in the long-run (best use of their character designs was
Shamanic Princess--wait, they had nothing to do with that? Dammit). Their story-telling is a mess, and that's made their CLAMP-verse a clusterfuck. Like, I
do get what they were going for with some of their ideas: I like the setting to
Chobits; the romance in
Wish between a rich doctor and the angel he saved had me hoping I'd like it by the end; what I've read so far in
xxxHOLiC intrigues me; I actually do want to read/watch
Magic Knight Rayearth and
Angelic Layer; the mindfuck that is
Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE sounds too stupid to
not check out.
But when it comes to looking back on these stories, especially as an adult, they have some problems that makes me wonder how much they planned ahead. 'Course, the only ending of theirs I thought was perfect was
CCS, but now they had to screw that up over nostalgia in making the
Clear Card sequel. I only plan to watch the OVA in September as a test to see if I'm going to bother watching the TV series next year, but I'm honestly not looking forward to it.
