Is drama queen or ruri dragon any good, I keep seeing it before the sunday reads.
I like RuriDragon, but you have to accept what it is.

It's a slice of life series about a girl named Ruri Aoki who finds out she's actually a dragon when she wakes up one day with horns. Turns out her dad is a dragon. She never knew because she never even met the guy. Between her, her mom, and most people around her, everyone is really chill about her being a dragon [as in, nobody even brings up the idea of her being experimented on or whatever], which might make you go 'I don't like this because it doesn't feel realistic', but that's never the point of the series. The point is more to use 'is a dragon' as some sort of analogy to puberty: Ruri has weird powers that make school life more complicated than she thought, but instead of being about her using these powers to fight monsters like you might expect, it's about her figuring out how to deal with sudden spurts of fire breathing. It had a pretty strong start in terms of audience response [people really liked it], which led to some issues when the author suddenly got super sick and couldn't work on it for literal years, yet the series was not canceled precisely because it was so strong.

Basically, if you want to read teenagers being chill, teenage drama being kinda realistic as opposed to what you usually get, and a general light-hearted tone to something usually more serious, it's a good read. If you don't like slice of life stuff, then it might change your mind. Or not.

Outside of Clevatess , Re Zero season 3 and Apocalypse Bringer there have been no anime this year ( that I've watched ) that I would rate above a 7 out of 10.

There's been a real lack of good high quality shows coming out this year, hopefully next year is better.
Kaoru Hana is the Good Shit if you like earnest romance stories.

Beside Panty & Stocking, i have been watching an anime called Yofukashi No Uta. if you into chill anime with light humor and a relaxing tune, its for you.

I've been enjoying Drama Queen but it still feels like too early in the story to recommend it. But as of chapter 30 it seems like the plot might actually be starting now?

Many kiwi nerds would probably get a kick out of it though.

The next page is even more based kek.
Ya, I didn't want to spoil a laugh in chapter 1 if anyone was gonna pick it up.
This is the whole comic btw, for anyone considering it. Reasonable solutions to immigration concerns. The clever part I guess is, if someone wanted to form a twitter mob objecting to rejecting space aliens... that requires sustaining a moral objection like to every sci-fi thing ever.
Which is pretty funny in a meta way but it's all it really has going on so far.

Does Kaiju Nr. 8 get better or nah? Because the premise of "loser 30 year old fat janitor becomes super powerful and gets with his successful childhood crush" is fucking laughable. It's like an isekai at this point.

Big nah. MC was kinds charming at the start imo but it turns into nothing but some seriously lame/derivative and then incredibly boring fights all the way to the end. All other characters feel like they were purely designed for selling plastic figures. Almost all the action reads like a storyboard for the anime rather than a manga so it drags hard in longer battles. There's no other plot after the origin story. It's shit.

The commercials for the game are pretty nice at least, animated by the same guy that did that Mcdonald Family commercial.

It doesn't. It becomes so incredibly repetitive and mediocre even audiences started to bleed away and it ended like a month ago on a completely mediocre note.

The mere fact you could have built an interesting plotline out of the origin story and it ended up as the most bog-standard shonen was completely puzzling. I mean, the story wrote itself.
Janitor gets superpowers and uses his Kaiju experience from janitor work to kill them efficiently or to avoid collateral damage.
Has to keep his double life hidden, while the government is hunting for him (and his Certified Childhood Friend is on the hunt too)
Explore the fact that the guy is 30+ and in a dead end job, build up his co-workers or something.
Maybe he learns that pining for a emotionless government killer he knew long ago is retarded and gives a chance to the girl selling pancakes at the local shop he saved from a random beast.
Do something with the niche that your useless no-life old man (a staple of seinen misery porn series) now has superpowers. Imagine a lighter Inuyashiki.

And they went for the battle academy with teenagers route for ??? reasons. It's clear the author could not, or didn't want to, commit to anything but the most baseline shonen slop.

I feel like there's a severe underproduction of unique anime. Most shit out there is stuff that appeals to the lowest common denominator by using the same fucking tropes and storylines. I understand that manga publishers, production committees and anime studios want to first and foremost make money, but there's no fucking way that slop is as good as it gets for making money.

It had a somewhat cool premise but it just meanders now. It doesn't want to use the mature protagonist in a way that makes it more interesting, especially with him having a love interest that manages to make something of herself. A lot of the elements just remind of other shonen:
* Hero is useful for knowing trivia about the enemy - MHA.
* Attack names with numbering - Demon Slayer.
* Multiple squads including "the strongest" - Bleach.
* Superpowered mode that will never actually backfire in a meaningful way - Naruto.

New popular thing, Futei no Olympia(Olympia of Adultry). It's another "cute girl saves me from shit life - go to the gym you lazy bum edition".

MC-kun is actually an old 40 year old man, his subordinates at work think he's a spineless pushover, his daughter's a bitch, his wife is more than likely cheating on him and the "cute girl" is a crazy as fuck horndog who's threatening MCkun with a fake rape allegation in order to train MC-kun into her dream muscle man so that he can fuck her brains out.

And I do mean crazy.

I think I remember reading a chaptor or two of an ecchi manga with a similar premise a decade or so ago. I think it was set in a swimming club. (Not anything to do with Nagatoro, as far as I can remember, Nagatoro never actually made Sempai join the swimming club.)

Wish they could've gotten someone in English to dub the song rather than just lazily going with the sub. But that's simuldubs for you.

The english translation for Plinivs has finally been completed. Consider reading it if you want japanese romaboo kino. It's better than any series or movie westoids have made about Rome in a long time.
