Big O, for instance, had a lot of deep character moments and themes, but at the end of the day, you tune in to watch the big-ass robot pound the crap out of the enemy.
I wouldn't say no to the robot battles of course... but Big O was something that I honestly enjoyed more for the mystery. Everything about that first season was on point to me. Season 2 gets a little too far into the weeds and really gets esoteric at times... but those first 13 episodes before the animation change will always stick with me. It remains one of the most killer vibes I've enjoyed in anime, the classy OST never failing to set the mood.

I always felt like the show was more mature and civilized than say "a DBZ" as a kid. With no disrespect intended, the show felt old, something that took pacing, style, color theory, and framing seriously. Of course I could never put words to it in that way while watching on Toonami way back, but I feel as though those things can be perceived (if not interpreted) as such even as a child. The show is like a vintage wine, it only gets better with age. If you're a fuckin zoomie who has never watched it, you should.

I tried watching Cardcaptor Sakura for the first time since I was a kid, and this dub sucks ass compared to the one I remember, but unfortunately that's not available. It's lifeless and dull and everyone just sounds kinda weird. The show is also kinda boring and slow in general, I know it was heavily edited before but that probably helped the pacing a lot. Not sure I'll finish this.

I'll say one thing though, it's one of the most well animated series I've seen.

Might as well watch it subbed, though I think you can still pirate the Nelvana dub. Years ago it all used to be on YouTube, so I have a folder of all 70 episodes of the Nelvana dub, though I'll have to intersplice the audio with HD footage one day.

I keep noticing how much they downplayed how much of a rampant gay-groomer Garterbelt is in Panty and Stocking. I don't miss his constant Diddy-parties but it's interesting that's like the one thing they scaled back on when the rest of the anime is more ribald then the first season. He's actually almost sexless now... although I guess he may fuck ghost animals off screen?

Why the fuck are you watching a dub of CCS
Ever watch the Animax Asian English dubs?

No, because I don't watch dubs that take a chainsaw to the source material.
>Nelvana dub takes out instances of gayness (including with underaged characters), teachers being groomers, and changed a 16-year-old student marrying her teacher (assistant) into a college student marrying her teacher
>REEEEEEEEEE IT GOT CHAINSAWED

Um... okay?

This season will end with Brief discovering foids are gross and that he actually loves cock

I know there's a couple Alita threads but they've been dead for around 5 years, and also seen some discussion here years ago, but I want to bitch about it now.

I read the original series decades ago, and have re-read it a few times over the years, every time trying to continue onto Last Order and failing. Recently I heard Mars Chronicle had ended, so I decided to go through once and for all, now that the story was complete.

Fool that I was, since not only is there going to be another fucking "Chronicle", it'll start next year, and who knows how many more relaunches Kishimoto is going to do before we're through. Assuming he doesn't die (as he keeps threatening to do) and we get another Miura scenario.

I would be less pissed if Mars Chronicle had been 100% set in the past, and if it'd covered the WHOLE past, and the new Chronicle could be the post-Last Order story. But no, a whole fucking volume (but only one) is set in the present, and now the latest point in the timeline is a huge cliffhanger (Caerula may be dead, we don't know what Alita was doing for 3 years and what the fuck is up with that talking gun, an Alita impostor tried to kill the Queen -and the Queen may be a necro now-, and Alita is trying to get Supernova to bring properly back to life the people who've been necro'd; the latest page in the timeline is Supernova with a shit-eating grin). And on the past side, the story isn't even complete. We got to faff about with a bunch of secondary characters (even if they're pretty cool, like Muster and Keun), establishing the weird politics of Mars (which are long lost by the time of the main story), and Alita and Erica are still kids as of the latest chapter. Also, we got Alita's true origin: she's a fucking tumor. A tumor given a mechanical body to use her as a pawn in a political/revenge gambit.

On the whole, I enjoyed Last Order and Mars Chronicle, but they get really stupid and over the top. Battle Angel is still the best era of the whole story.

I remember starting to read that part and taking a break never continuing, crazy it is still ongoing, but can be said the same about Black Lagoon. Mangas are cursed to either end prematurely or never get an ending.

> Show introduce men.
> Men do everything better than women.
> Deny evil.
> Have an actual decent personality.
> Women win by spending money they don't have and use their privilege.

What did the writers mean by that?
