I'm aware that the Yakuza is why there has never been pornographic fan fiction of the original series
pretty sure yakuza doesn't care, they're organized crime, they probably care more of not getting their cut.

the "problem" with uma musume (which is also one reason for the delay) is that the characters are all real horses with real owners and naming rights. some rich nip boomer seeing porn of his beloved racehorse will have a far different reaction than some goon who has heard of actual pimping.

the other important aspect which is often lost in the west is japan's IP rights, they don't have free use like the west does. that means every doujin and fan work getting produced does so with the blessing of the rights holder, and if they wanted they could nip that in the bud easily via attorneys.
however companies are also smart enough to know that it's free marketing for their product and going after fans easily creates bad PR and backlash, so there's an understanding (usually) that companies don't get retarded and look the other way while people using their IP follow some unwritten rules, or in this case the official request to not lewd the horse idols (obviously someone will draw hentai anyway since this is the internet and r34 is a thing, but he probably won't be able to sell it at comiket, get flak from other artists and there's so little of it that it can easily be ignored).

A LOT of money goes through the horse races, and there is deep enough involvement that one horse becoming a lusty waifu could ruin perfectly planned bets so of course they crack down hard on that,

I finished all of Dragon Ball. Took me almost year since Toriyama passed as I took my time with it. An amazing 10/10 based anime overall and I am glad I started it before moving onto DBZ. I had never seen Dragon Ball before until last year. I can't believe so mamy people skipped this masterpiece and just moved on to DBZ. Dont get me wrong, I did the same thing way back then before I even knew there was an original Dragon Ball. I did see DBZ all the way to the Cell Saga over 20 years ago in English. But that was a long time ago. Now I am going to start DBZ for the first time in Japanese.

I am also rewatching season 1 of Fire Force so I can be ready for season 3 in April.

Dragonball anime in the US got fucked over. The Funimation dub of Dragonball came out in 2001, whereas Dragonball Z Funimation dub came out in 1996.

Dragonball is fucking awesome. I highly recommend checking out the manga too.

I find the german Version of engrish Super funny. The japanese love a good Wordsalat, so this shit called "ÜBELBLATT" peaked my interest while browsing prime. It looked like your typical modern fantasy bullshit, where the uncoolest, blandest Main character you can imagine does stuff, but one Google search later and this Cover Popped up:

Lmao at the state of modern """"fantasy"""

Mars of Destruction
When I think about the worst anime I watched, having just shit animation or rushed pacing doesn't really add to the suckage since it's like arguing that a child with no limbs is the worst runner ever.

For a truly awful anime it needs to have the ability to be genuinely good. And in that regard the worst anime I've seen is Re:creators.

It starts pretty solid and becomes a Oscar level self fellating affair by the end. It has the budget, length and setup to be great but decides that rather than sticking to the characters it needs to talk on how being a mangaka is the most awesome thing in the world.

Oh God, Re-Creators. How the hell you take Rei Hiroe at the helm on a series inspired by Last Action Hero of all things, build a decent set of characters each with its own arc, a somewhat sensible and decent plot, and proceed to completely dismantle your series in one of the most harebrained and stupid endings I've ever had the disgrace of witnessing.

You're right, it's one of the worst piece of media I've ever seen. Trash anime can be laughed at, stupid anime can be laughed at. Re-Creators was good when it wanted to, both in comedy and even in drama. The recap episode with the magician girl rewriting herself as a bombshell was a great laugh, the action and blending of several genres worked fine.

And then of course it ended in a completely schizoid mess where the completely underwritten Main Villain (that is OC DONUT STEEL personified) simply wins against everything and everyone, she simply wins forever, deal with it. Also online bullying bad, it's bad. They flat-out forgot to give an ending to some characters in their desperate fellating of their self-righteous delusions. "If you don't like it you're a terrible person and wait why aren't you crying at the emotional re-union wait why is everyone finding this ending crap wait"

i only remember this because of the berserk comparisons and the grown women wanting to fuck the little boy
other than that, it's really fucking boring and confusing

I was actually going to give this one a try, not anymore though.

What if it was a stealth parody all along and no one understood it?

I agree. Low budget and short length don't make an anime truly bad. Lots of good shows had low budgets, and being short just means it's not interminable misery. It's the same reason I hesitate to say stuff like Chargeman Ken and Legend of Duo are bad. Chargeman Ken was a decent set of action shorts with some occasional cool vehicles, and Legend of Duo was, in essence, a cool OVA that was just animated that way so it would play on mid-2000s flip phones. Kiss Dum is sort of like what you're describing, but I can't really call it bad because it gave us 4 good episodes. I guess the worst anime I've seen, by your standards, would be This Ugly Yet Beautiful World since it really failed in a big way to capitalize on its setting to be a fanservice fest instead. Same with Mahoromatic, though it at least had a decent OVA. Nanoha is also a contender since it did almost nothing with its setting and ultimately felt more like a battle shonen arc than the SRW-esque story I've always heard it to be. Prism Ark is down there as well since it became an average moe ecchi show rather than the weirdly dark magitech thing I've heard the original VN was, but at least it had Klein Sandman and the first episode had lots of Obari poses.

With a lot of shitty shows and OVAs, there's at least some redeeming quality about them that you can find unintentionally funny. The terrible CG of Ex-Arm, the absurdity of killing yourself over a hamster in Juliet, ridiculous tit physics in Eiken, and so on. Canary is a one episode OVA adaptation of a visual novel of a group of highschoolers in a band where the keyboardist leaves and the group comes together to get him back. The plot is nonsensical, but there's absolutely nothing of note. It's inoffensive and completely forgettable, which to me is worse than something like Pupa, Tenshi no Drop, or the previously mentioned Skelter Heaven or Mars of Destruction.

It also suffers from the habit of not sticking to its themes all that well. No, not the mangaka shit, but how much fiction and reality don't mesh well. Certain things we might find entertaining if it stayed fiction are actually really annoying and/or dangerous in real life.
