I'm religiously reading Baki Rahen and I just can't handle the kino. Jackbros, we are so fucking back and we have never been so fucking back.
This is the most peak Baki has been in a while, and I love what's happening in Jack's story and the sheer Itagaki-philosophical insanity of Gou-dou and of Jack's fights. Jack has evolved bro, it's glorious.

THE METEOR WAS AN INSIDE JOB!

Took a bit longer due to other things, but I finally finished rewatching the first Season of Stand Alone Complex. Excellent show, mired by some small issues. Laughing Man was a great story and most of the individual episodes are great too. Some pacing issues with the Laughing Man, animation and CGI quality sometimes a bit too rough. Some story beats are either loose ends or get picked up by S2. But regardless, great show and I might continue straight with S2.

The last arc dealing with Big Pharma is absolutely based.

I love how Zenshu has that super elaborate summoning sequence every episode. They paid for the animation budget and by God they will make good use of it.

I don't watch a lot of anime for various reasons, so I can't speak for every show, but SAC and by extension GitS in general, tower above most things I saw just by virtue of being "realistic". The themes of politics, philosophy, interpersonal relationships etc. never feel fake, condescending or ironic. Probably a bad idea to compare it to modern stuff, since especially a lot of western stuff that is tainted by identity politics. Nonetheless, it's one of the few shows I would call "mature" even if that sounds corny. Even the Tachikoma's who are played off as comic relief feel sincere.

Going through shows on MAL not a lot of stuff compares and could be put on the same pedestal.

I might have to rewatch and/or re-read Komi Can’t Communicate, since the final 499th chapter dropped recently. It was also announced that the 5th chapter will be released as a bonus chapter as thanks for the support of the manga itself.

Either way, I do remember finding the first season entertaining.

I like that fatties are getting BTFO'd about the main character having a thin mode.

I also like the wife actually discovering about the bounty, and having a short argument that's done pretty fast.
