Thank you for making The Drifitng Classroom. Here’s to hoping Junji Ito can live some more.

This one is unexpected, since he was one of the first before him to get me introduced to horror manga full time:

I've never even heard of this guy, but his art goes crazy. What are his best works?

Damn, I was reading his Ultraman manga saturday. Drifting Classroom is a masterpiece

Since Umezu passed away, I'll post some stills from the '76 Cat-Eyed Boy gekimation "anime." It's done entirely with paper cutouts.

The Drifting Classroom and Fourteen I think are his absolute best. My Name is Shingo and God's Left Hand, Devil's Right Hand are also very excellent. But even his other works like Orochi or Cat-Eyed Boy are great. He never made anything bad. Whatever you do, I would save Fourteen for last since it's both chronologically his last work as well as the culmination of decades of writing the weirdest shit possible.

I didn't read other works made by Umezu besides The Drifting Classroom 3 years ago, but rest in peace king. This year is harsh. So many great people from animanga industry passed away. Let's just hope that 2025 will be better.
Nobody mentioned it, but apparenlty Vinland Saga is coming to an end after 20 years of serialization.
I won't be surprised if Einar loses his mind and goes on a killing spree considering what happened, Thorfinn tells him that it's wrong, they start arguing, Thorfinn kills Einar and BOOM the cycle of violence

That's interesting, very distinct look too. Isn't this kindov what South Park does?

For those who don't know Vinland Saga eventually gets a character who amounts to a Transvestite version of Thorkell. This isn't hyperbole, it is a Transvestite bastard son of Thorkell, and it's played like an American HR department would give it to you, accept the man in the dress. Shit falls off hard after Thorfinn gives up being a Viking Chieftain.

Look Back is everything wrong with modern "meta" anime with its boring, if not despicable main characters whose heads are too far up their own ass or is "le quirky", and montages that don't even show proper progression that makes sense because it expects the audience to just fill in the blanks. Whaddya mean we're suddenly supposed to believe the two girls started working on manga together when the main lead was just so dismissive of the shut-in and never showed she had even talked to her again before we cut to the montage where the shut-in is suddenly drawing in her room? And we don't really get to see their hard work onscreen? Like what was just so special about their debut one-shot that they got recognized? And that's not getting into the midway point drama and subsequent "what-if" scenario that felt so undeserved if not outright insulting because there's nothing memorable and likable about the characters outside of "Ooooh they're just so relatable, she's just like meeee/I know someone just like her" fuck that shit, that's not good enough.

And she never learned why it is she draws to begin with and still continued to draw despite originally quitting because she was jealous someone had more skill than her. At least that would've been proof of character development (becoming colleagues/friends only counts if we had gotten that natural progression of seeing them come together). But nope, her soliloquy (flashback dialogue?) at the end being pretentious about how haaaaard manga is and yet she still draws anyway is extremely reminiscent of "cinéphile" Pompo saying she hates films if they're not 90 minutes exactly and yet works as a movie director and producer despite hating the medium.

I can't hate this obvious "student graduate film notice me sempaaaai" story enough.

And I'm aware the original creator is Tatsuki Fujimoto, and I don't give a shit if it turns out this is actually based off of something that happened to him. It's a bad script and I'm not going to pretend otherwise.

>Vinland Saga is ending
>after 20 years

The real shocker is that this was real for two decades straight. I need to get the Deluxe Edition(s) STAT before it’s too late.
2004 just feels way too late for a continuously releasing multi-decade-long manga to start, even one that released monthly.

The Author of 'Doujima-Kun will not be disturbed', an ecchi slop series about the fluffy comedy will-they-won't-they relationship between two characters who very happily get along with each other has spat in the face of all his fans and accepted a commission for a chapter where the protagonist gets NTR'd by a gang of beach-goers as an alternative spinoff to his series that got cancelled.

I'm not linking the chapter here for obvious reasons, go look it up for yourselves if you want to see.

Needless to say I will not be reading any more of this guy's works as he has all but publicly stated he will let you run his characters through whatever sick fetish gauntlet you can think of as long as you have the money.

So did anyone see that new My Hero Acadamia movie yet?
No, but whether it's a sequel to the manga or not I could probably guess the plot:
* Girl being chased by villains.
* Demu rescues her.
* Villains start appearing against the other heroes.
* They all meet up and discover that the villains want the girl for a reason.
* Discover new villain that is tangentially related to the main villains.
* Big fight scene that every main character gets a fight.
* Deku uses girl's power to beat the main villain.
* Girl fucks off somewhere far or disappear from everyone's memories but Deku.

Needless to say I will not be reading any more of this guy's works as he has all but publicly stated he will let you run his characters through whatever sick fetish gauntlet you can think of as long as you have the money.
Who the fuck cares. Why do otakus always take this shit so seriously. If it was canon at least I would understand it being disgusting for no reason, but dude just wants a paycheck.

I read it (basically skimmed cause I read a raw version), it's surprisingly tame compared to some other ones (Gal☆Cleaning & many other examples). But yeah, this is the same Gal Cleaning levels of pettyness.

Why do you have to keep acting like having no principles is a good thing? You do this shit every single time you post...
