re: JJK the author literally admitted it’s less of an actual series and more of a place to put ideas he couldn’t use in other works

You ever read a series and just hate it?

I read the Interspecies Linguistics series and holy fuck it’s boring. The monsters just act like regressive tribals if not communal retards, like hole in the brain retards.

It’s had potential to be interesting, but fuck it’s just boring.

(Undead Unluck) holy shit please please please be a huge twist and not the axe

It’s been reported that Reiji Miyajima, the popular mangaka of Rent-A-Girlfriend, has announced that his recent new manga The Shiunji Family Children is getting an anime adapatation next year.

This was his new art as a thank you to the fans who kept reading it during all this time:

It was almost a couple of months ago where the official poster and teaser of the adaptation would come out showing us what the characters will look like in anime form:

They even announced who will be the seiyuu for the anime as well:
Arata Shiunji: Yuuichirou Umehara (Romantic Killer)
Banri Shiunji: Chika Anzai (Grand Blue)
Seiha Shiunji: Marika Kouno (Oniichan wa Oshimai!)
Ouka Shiunji: Rie Takahashi (Kanojo, Okarishimasu)
Minami Shiunji: Hana Hishikawa (Dekoboko Majo no Oyako Jijou)
Kotono Shiunji: Kana Ichinose (Sousou no Frieren)
Shion Shiunji: Chiaki Kobayashi (Mashle)

Either way, I’m caught up to the last chapter and so far, this is surprisingly better than Rent-A-Girlfriend (even if that doesn’t say much). Still, I’m looking forward to see how this one goes.

My first exposure to anime were entire reruns of COWBOY BEBOP and FLCL to celebrate the "return" of Toonami. My expectations are too high it seems now. What happened to stuff like this? I've watched other decent ones like FMAB, TEXHNOLYZE, Gurren Lagann, MONSTER, PLUTO, Paranoia Agent, etc. finishing Samurai Champloo. I guess there's a larger market for seasonal cutesy anime rather than slow burn projects.

That's basically my feeling. Once in a while, something like Violet Evergarden comes out and blows me away, but I really can't get with the typical anime crowd, I just can't get excited for most slop. I say that, but I'm enjoying Uma Musume Pretty Derby, so maybe it just takes the correct slop.

that's why it's called "exception to the rule"

it's about selling you horse waifus, so it needs to be fun and entertaining and the characters attractive and endearing. it's really not rocket science. the studio doing a great job helps too, along with the money cygames pumps into it to inflate bellies

That's true, but it's also a decent sports anime. I'm not calling it high art, but you could do far worse.

Shinkalion (all seasons, but especially the recent one) is a slow-burn. I suppose you could call Unit Pandora and Grendizer U slow burns, but it's almost like those shows actively avoid trying to be cool.
