I get that you aren't very smart but leg me explain some stuff:

fucking movie with one of the most retarded naming conventions I have ever seen. 3.0+1.0. Nigger just call it 4.0. It takes place after the third one. Anno is a fuck
Do you know why the film is called 3.0+1.0? Because it is literally the end part of the 3.0 plus a new one. See the runtime of all films and you are going to see that the third is the smaller one. All that part on village-3 was supposed to be in the third film but was expanded later so much that it took almost a film lenght.

Its not about being pretention, it is about being right, this name convention even stands to the prequels -46h and -120min that are literally what the title means.

attack or what the hell they were trying to do with that Jet alone episode and shouldn't need a wiki to tell me it was a potential replacement for Eva units. As they don't foreshadow the mass produced EVAs at all.

Nigger, they fucking do, they literally talk about it in the series, its not a matter of being undercover information, they literally talk about it in the scenes with nerv/seele.

Are you just someone who doesn't pay attention and then spergs about it like the infamous Synthetic Man? (https://kiwifarms.st/threads/synthetic-man-appreciation-thread.145629/)

Ah so you're one of those contrarian retards who just has to nitpick everything.
Safe to disregard your opinion and any bullshit you sperg on about.

Eva really needs its own kind of AC game that
1. Isn't focused on the main cast
2. Customizable player Eva
3. Isn't a fucking mobile game.
4. Isn't a fucking VN.

Great biblical apocalypse setting, horrible hack author who doesn't want to invite the audience to experience it for themselves. The player character should be an empty husk as a vessel for the player to experience the fictional world for themselves like the Master chief being a glorified green suit of armor. EVA could even tie this into its own story narratives like Marathon did. Though the Japanese are especially insanely autistic and schizophrenic with the concept of souls and vessels for them.
A story-heavy game like that which isn't a VN will almost undoubtedly need to be a JRPG, and I don't know if you are aware, but JRPGs (particulary new franchises) haven't done too hot lately, mainly because that kind of story can easily be repurposed for a gacha which makes 10x the money with 1/4th of the effort. And that's besides the fact that Eva was in a bit of a crisis due to Gainax's collapse and Khara's founding.

It totally has nothing to do with the last decade of retards on youtube spamming video essays along the lines of "EVANGELION SAEVED MAI LAIF!" or "EVERyTHhing WONG WIT (x thing in evangelion)". Its decently animated but the story isn't compelling, the characters are forgettable except Rei, who has the personality of a brick wall, and every episode essentially a step removed from an ultraman skit or michael bay transformers film. Since giant robots vs giant monsters was not anything Eva pioneered. On top of it all with the writer not only delaying the conclusion of the rebuilds by about a decade, but then having the gall to pull the rug out from under new fans and essentially tell them to go touch grass in the ending. When I literally went though college and got married before he decided to release this fucking movie with one of the most retarded naming conventions I have ever seen. 3.0+1.0. Nigger just call it 4.0. It takes place after the third one. Anno is a fucking hack on the level of Kojima and I am glad I did not spend a red cent on this loser with his delusions of grandeur and his trash writing.
Eva is a good show, but it has a lot of quirks and, honestly, fuck ups, that it just falls apart if the other apects of the show don't overshadow it during your viewing. The pacing is very iffy since at least ep9, the characters throw terms that don't really mean anything more often than not, Shinji's non-pilot friends get deleated from the story after ep17, Kaji dies without his contributions having made a clear impact on the rest of the characters, etc, etc. The entire show hinges on whether you like/identify/care about Shinji's journey to become less autistic and choose who's best girl and Asuka's mommy and daddy issues and intimacy problems, that's how it is

Eva really needs as solid storyline that isn't left completely up to interpretation or just anno's purposely vague autism. There's leaving supernatural things out and then there's refusing to do basic worldbuilding, which is what anno is insanely guilty of when it comes to explaining what the fuck an "impact" is besides some allusion to japan being nuked during WW2 and literally seeing red over it.
Come on, man, all of the worldbuilding you claim is missing is right there, spelled out plain as day... in one of the alternate story routes of a Japan-only PSP visual novel released ten years after the series ended. Look, you really just need to watch the show, then watch every available cut of the EoE movie, then read the production notes, then the interviews with Hideaki Anno, then play the PSP game, then cross-reference it all with the approved canon tier list to resolve any potential contradictions. You say Anno is a hack, but clearly you just haven't done the intellectual legwork required to understand his vision.

Maybe this belongs in the unpopular anime opinions thread, but this shit is why I've always liked RahXephon better than Evangelion. RahXephon is a blatant ripoff of Evangelion, but it's way less angsty and way more coherent. I guess Evangelion fans would call it a dumbed-down ripoff, but I prefer to think of it as what Evangelion would have looked like if Anno had just taken his depression meds.

Speaking of Evangelion and terrible writing, I'll take the opportunity to interject with this:
Much better ending than the one we actually got. Thanks game developers!

Warning for potentially autistic rant.

I really hate to say it, but one of my problems with Evangelion (and to an extent, Anno’s writing), is that it gets so focused on the themes and communicating a message that the characters and world building tend to become an afterthought. Opportunities for relationship building and such are wasted because they would conflict with the themes that Anno is so desperate for the audience to see.

I was willing to accept this in the original series because it was fresh for its time, and Anno was working through his depression. Not to mention that it was at the very least, properly built up over the course of 26 episodes and a movie. And heck, the first two Rebuild films also looked to be moving away from this, or at the very least, seemed to be better integrating the themes and overall story together.

However, for me at least, things collapsed in the latter two Rebuild films, with things like the timeskip, Curse Of Eva, state of the world, and the ultimate resolution all falling apart due to Anno once again prioritizing the themes over narrative cohesion and satisfying character and relationship payoffs. Anno has great themes and messages, some of the most profound in the medium, but doesn’t seem to know or care how to properly combine them with the overall narrative in a way that doesn’t overshadow the latter.

As much as the fanbase loves to say “how you just don’t get it” or “it made you feel how Anno wanted you to feel”, that doesn’t really excuse it. Like yes, the way the latter two films were done was to make the audience feel like Shinji, I get it. But that doesn’t really feel like a good trade off for narrative cohesion or the dropping of relationships.

Episode 23 retard, watch it again then come here and be humble, cunt.

@Shart Attack
RahXephon isn't a ripoff of evangelion at all. The creator of both series are friends and their sources are different Tomino series (eva would be ideon and rah would be reideen).

RahXephon is better written than evangelion, this is a fact. All the mysteries and clues are given to RahXephon characters and we got a specific character who does teh legwork for ourselves: the journalist Futagami. Unlike evangelion which is all cryptic, if you pay attention and make the connections the story gets quite clear to understand. (Even tho the movie simplifies lots of things). As a mystery, rah is so much better because that is the intention and that was how it was made.

It is funny that 20 years later people are still calling rahxephon a ripoff when in the last evangelion film, it copies the "tune the world" with its "neon genesis" scene in the last eva film from the rah film.

I like both series very much, the fact that the ps2 game is still unstranslated and there is so much new material in that angers me a lot.

Also the episode 19 is better than anything from the NGE/evangelion films.

@LightDragonman1

I can see your take. For myself I loved the new status quo from the 3.0 and beyond, it was really interesting, but I feel like the last film just goes full meta in the end and we miss lots of oportunities with it by going full meta instead of using plot and the new story elements. (I have no fucking clue what is the overlapping equipment that mari got in france for example)

But your take doesn't mean much in the context of the rebuilds because it was the same shit back in the NGE days. Anno giving priority to thenes rather than using characters.

There are two examples in evangelion that I love that goes against this:

Evangelion manga by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. The manga is way better than the anime series because Shinji feels real. He feels like a teenager boy full of anger and self sabotaging. Anime shinji is just... There. He isn't active, he is passive through and through.

When sadamoto rewrites certain scenes and make new stuff, it gives so much life to Shinji that makes it real. His relationship with Kaworu is so much better in the manga because they are so antagonistic, the guilt that he feels after Toji's death, his talk with Kaji about responsabilities and his promise to misato.

Anime shinji feels like a parody of himself in comparison with the self sabotaging Shinji from the manga, who closes himself to others.

And the Second case is the Iron Maiden game. Mainly the new ending:

I love this game, the writing is so good and it feels so evangelion like (because it was done by evangelion staff lol)

In this new and not canon ending, Shinji talks with PEOPLE, his friends, Hyuga, Toku-san and Mana. Not superpower bullshit or supernatural stuff from evangelion, he uses real stuff from his life to get over. Not magic, not super parents, nothing like that, just friendships and real connections.

Now imagine my shock when in the last film, when Shinji decides to sacrifice himself to help others, his parents comes away and save him from the price.

Fucking hell, let him do the thing, this feels almost Finn being saved by Rose in the last jedi film.

Speaking of Live Action, is the Golden Kamuy adaption on Netflix good? I'm pretty impressed by how characters from it look very close to the manga.

I've been really getting into Josei recently. The heroines aren't textbook retarded like Shoujo protagonists can be.
Ikoku Nikki was an interesting read. The ending feels a bit sudden and slapdash, but I really liked the relationship between the main girl and her aunt.

I'm feeling very american right now. Gonna catch up with mid, I mean My Hero Academia. Starting at season 5. Here we go.

I'd recommend just doing the manga, the anime cuts out a lot of shit and is almost reliant on you watching the movies at times.

But here's the thing: nostalgia. MHA was my COVID anime/ the anime that got me actually invested in anime beyond the 4kids block I grew up with. Kinda have to finish it man. And I like the movies I've seen, so...

If only you had picked One Piece as your coof anime to spend your days with.
I was way more into superheroes back then lol. Uncle is a bug comic nerd. And to be fair, MHA was better back then, until it started spiraling in S4.

For what it's worth the Jet Alone stuff is just flatly stated in the Jet Alone episode. That's the entire reason Best Cougar went out of her way to sabotage it and then disarm it. It was some alternative to giving NERV all the money and SEELE was seething. It was a shit alternative that would never work (how the fuck does Jet Alone deal with AT fields) but SEELE are Jews so of course they baby raged.

(how the fuck does Jet Alone deal with AT fields)
Ritsuko even asked them directly, and their response was "Oh, that's just another technical issue, I'm sure we'll be able to figure it out."

Eva was very good at incorporating the logistical aspects of trying to field giant (bio-)robots, and the human bureaucracy and foibles that go along with that.
