One question that I have about Anime/Manga, is why Korean characters are almost non-existent, while Chinese and Russian characters are fairly common, if a series has foreigner characters. Is it because mangaka and anime companies fear their series getting banned in South Korea, like how Hetalia Axis Powers got banned (?) because the Koreans got so butthurt and offended at the Korean character in the manga? But then again, Koreans get butthurt about even the smallest of things.
Or was it because of South Korea's previous ban on Japanese things as a whole? Some Japanese electronics that were sold in Korea in the 90s, were "re-badged", like the badge engineering concept with cars. One example was the Sega Game Gear being re-badged as a Samsung:
Or is it because mangaka and anime companies also have the same grudge against the Koreas, like how the Koreas still have a grudge against Japan? But that wouldn't explain why Chinese characters are more common in anime.
