One question that I have about Anime/Manga, is why Korean characters are almost non-existent, while Chinese and Russian characters are fairly common, if a series has foreigner characters. Is it because mangaka and anime companies fear their series getting banned in South Korea, like how Hetalia Axis Powers got banned (?) because the Koreans got so butthurt and offended at the Korean character in the manga? But then again, Koreans get butthurt about even the smallest of things.

Or was it because of South Korea's previous ban on Japanese things as a whole? Some Japanese electronics that were sold in Korea in the 90s, were "re-badged", like the badge engineering concept with cars. One example was the Sega Game Gear being re-badged as a Samsung:

Or is it because mangaka and anime companies also have the same grudge against the Koreas, like how the Koreas still have a grudge against Japan? But that wouldn't explain why Chinese characters are more common in anime.

Good question. My guess is that Japan wants to sell to the big Chinese market and is better at doing it, and Japanese cultural exports are threatened more by South Korea (e.g. Kpop, manhwa). I read some manhua but the Koreans are clearly more creative.

Chuu chuu train is over. Was a fun ride. Serious shit going down in Kaijuu no. 8. It's nice to have a season end that can go multiple ways.

Russia/America fills the role of blonde pretty girls or massively buff guys who can't speak English. Japanese love China because cool cloths and Three Kingdoms. Putting in Koreans is like putting in Somalians, there isn't any point.

Spy X Family chapter 100! I can’t wait for either kids having cute adventures, Yor being an air headed terminator, or Twilight dealing with his own feelings compromising his mission.

Martha’s women squad is bombarded, some are obliterated, a Commisar shots some of them for cowardice on panel, and Martha learns that civilians on both side of the war suffer.

Did not expect that. Good chapter overall.

Hard disagree; Koreans are on the same creative level as the Japanese, except their tropes and tendencies are less compelling and total shit.

I said manhwa (Korean) > manhua (Chinese)
Ah, my bad. Still though, saying the Koreans are more creative than the Chinese is like saying a grown retard is stronger than a baby; yeah, but most people are and they’re not that much better.

I will assert that Manhuas are better than Manhwas just because of the average craziness. My rule of thumb has always been Manga is apeshit in a reliably entertaining way, Manhua is apeshit in a reliably insane way, and Manhwa is apeshit in a reliably psychopathic way.

I still don't get why Japan will never admit its mistakes. Idk why it can't just make up with Korea. Asking a lot since they were asshokes to China and Korea but still.

Anyway started neighborhood story. The picnic wraparound covers are interesting except for the dude using a fork to look up girl skirt its gross and juvenile

Somali and the the Forest Spirit is way too cute. It's predictable but somehow still hits hard.

I wonder though, I'm not sure it's a plot hole, but if a witch can live among humans without question as we've seen (unless they do something to reveal themselves) then Somali should similarly be able to live in the witch city safely, maybe even moreso than some human hideout. It would've been good to see it at least considered.

I'll say this, having read the manga: you are going to love the S1 finalie. Especially with the top notch animation IG has been putting in. The adaption has exceeded all expectations.
Looking forward to it then. And the animation has been pretty damn good, even if the art style still hasn't grown on me much.

The art style is very modern I'll admit. That said I think it suits the fast action scenes of the show, very fluid. Other than that, enjoy man. I just hope they don't rush S2 because of the first season's success.

I guess I need to start watching the original.

It's sad that such a great series got discontinued due to the mangaka's poor health.

Did the United States/Israel/England ever admited their ongoing and current mistakes? Lol no

Proximity doesn't mean they would interact more in a meaningful way, China's interactions happened for a long time (the origin of the japanese writing system) and had various points of interactions through the history.

Its not even a matter of war, since Russia had its own war with Japan, it is more of a matter of a similar interest to share.

I don't want to defend this specifically because of how Current Year ruins everything and the fandom is trash anyway, but I've seen enough complaining about how much worse the original animé's version of Akane was [because 'I HATE YOU RANMA-swings hammer-sends him flying off' was equal parts common and overused] that if nothing else, an adaptation where she's toned down from that is an improvement.

But well, it's been a long time since the old tsunderes from harem animés stopped being majorly relevant, anyway.

There was a brief period where it was looking like they might in the 90's but the chinese and koreans jumped on it immediately, like smelling blood in the water, demanding reparations. It is literally in their best interests to never apologize.

Maybe some surviving Ocean Dub could reprise their roles for Ranma, especially the voice of the ghost cat, using the Double D voice

That reminded me that Eddy was the fat kid in Transformers Armada.

Whitey should learn from Japan.

Korea is like that bitch who gets with a new boyfriend and her old boyfriend is now the most evil person in history ever. Before it was Japan it was China, before China it was a kingdom in the North, before the kingdom in the North it was a Chinese dynasty, before the Chinese dynasty it was the Manchurians.

The pleasure women thing is honestly one of those things where Koreans didn’t give a shit until like the 80’s when some monkey person (they call themselves Dutch) successfully sued for being pressured into joining a wartime brothel. A lot of the pleasure women have been abused by the Korean state as they basically are brought out to shame Japan and then tossed into abusive retirement homes.

There’s also a lot of bullshit around 731 and the whole “logs” shit. They did do human experimentation and were trying to start germ warfare in the US, but a lot of it’s Holocaust tier shit where personal narratives were sold with no one really checking. A few journalists and politicians have gone to their death beds denying narratives they hawked.
Grenade enemas likely did not happen. The dropping people into liquid nitrogen also likely did not happen, but they did expose people to the elements and study hypothermia and hyperthermia. The Germ warfare shit is hard to get a good read on because while they did do it, it was rural China during a Civil War and foreign incursion.
