Man I am crazy or the people complaining about the last chapter of chainsaw man are DEFINITELY AMERICANS? because they are fine with violence and all but the moment something sexual happens they go all crying about sexual abuse, even when the scene is completely comedic in tone.
I could maybe understand if CSM didn't have as much egregious content beforehand but this is the same manga that had:

-Denji's dismembered corpse shown in a dumpster
-A woman throwing up in Denji's mouth and then propositioning him for sex.
-A nude harem panel

I get why some people might dislike it but the sheer amount of people treating this like it's the downfall of the manga have either not been paying attention to to the previous chapters or have never read any of Fujimoto's other works cause this is basically nothing to him.

Anybody have any isekai anime suggestions?
Im not a huge fan of the genre so I think you watched some of the only worthwhile shows.
If you like Mushoku Tensei, you can try Re:zero since that’s what it’s most compared to from what I see. Im just personally not a fan. Tanya the Evil is a fun watch too.
I remember people also liked, No Game No Life, Log Horizon, and overlord when those came out.

Overlord and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime are both (I got turned into whatever) isekai but if you liked Shield Guy after it's first season you should give them a try.
Slime is great but I'd recommend just skipping Overlord. I think it was mainly popular for the premise (MC just being a straight-up bad guy) but then he kind of actually isn't really and also nothing fucking happens in it. There's a couple cool scenes early on, then the plot stops.
Maybe stuff eventually happens in the light novel? but it hasn't yet in the manga and the anime has a lot of nothing to wade through to even catch up to that.

Only redeeming factor is that it gave us the theme song for all of Null's girlfriends:

damn this guy is acting like a massive redditor but he still had more balls than most men today
I don't think they have redditors in taiwan so you are looking at a true hero (top 10 according to chinese internet); have some respect.

If you want to make fun of somebody, I found the video. Umbrella Brother is a little confused:

I want to find an anime or manga that's a cooking isekai except the natives find Japanese food to taste strange and give them horrible indigestion and/or food poisoning.
Shield Hero becomes a cooking isekai for a whole novel.

Bit of crossposting but it's this VA's birthday

All of that's equally true of Shield Guy after the first season. Hell, it works better in Overlord purely because the cast is more entertaining. Watching Ainz gaslightning Albedo and Demiurge into thinking his bullshit was all according to keikaku is much more entertaining then, what, spear-guy's love quest for shield-guy's loli chocobo? Even Renner and Climb's B-story is more interesting then however much screen time Shield Guy S3 gave to the Tiger kids.

I'm saying they are both shit for similar reasons, but if you like shit Overlord is at least as good at it.

I'm still not convinced that Demiurge has been gaslit. I believe he long ago realized the Ainz is an idiot and is pretending in order to get Ainz to do what he wants. I stopped watching halfway through but I believe Ainz still doesn't know that the people he rules over get turned into parchment for spells.

Anybody have any isekai anime suggestions? Most seem to be "I got turned into [insert object/monster]" or "I'm a [most powerful mage/fast runner/insert gimmick power here]" type of shit that sounds too retarded to try.

Good ones I watched were Shield Hero, Konosuba, and Moshoku Tensei.
Log Horizon isn't exactly an isekai, but imho it's the highest quality 'trapped in videogame' story that isn't //sign. As far as actual Isekai go, if you haven't already watched Escaflowne, go and watch Escaflowne.

I've observed how it's a recurring trend in LNs for the first book to have a bunch of progress, and then for the rest of the series to just boringly stay in a status quo and go on circular tangents.

Isn't Dot Hack Sign ugly as hell?

Thanks for the recommendation, I've read Spirit Circle over the weekend and it's great but the ending is kinda meh.

Essentially, throughout the story you have a pretty consistent divide between the two leads in ideology which seems to go somewhere, up until the final reveal that the final reincarnation is evil, wants to destroy the world and hijacks the protagonist's body. So at least in terms of the relationship between the two, nothing really mattered since the end result was the same and it's purely on the protagonist and his reincarnations to save the day. It doesn't help the heroine is rarely called out on her beliefs in the reincarnations, while the protagonist does even if he is 100% in the right.

Also the part about being happy with being an underachiever rubs me the wrong way.
I kinda agree about the ending being weaker than the rest, it's definitely not as fleshed out as the author's other endings.

As for the differences, they weren't so much in ideology but more like an unending conflict. Well it's true that generally speaking Kouko is more of an utilitarian while Fuuta is closer to your average person and more of an ethics guy who'd refuse to sacrifice one for the many (most of the time). But they sometimes swapped a bit and it was more about the conflict. Kouko is a spiteful cunt and tries to guilt trip Fuuta by telling him how she died in her first life despite Fuuta not having done anything wrong there... But knowing the author it's not the story's moral compass being off center but rather just dialogues the character would actually say. If you've read more manga by the author (heavily recommend Biscuit Hammer and Sengoku Youko btw) you'll know that characters will often say things that make sense FOR THEM but that wont be objective truths and sometimes be called out by other characters later.

If we're talking ideologies I'll say the Lafalle life is the most interesting one. Lafalle was right about everything except the reason between the low birthrates but he was still doing a good thing, I'd say.

We already know the final reincarnation was fucked up, but I'm not sure evil is the word here. Fortuna is all about regret. He couldn't save his friend, nor his master and he always regretted losing his previous peaceful life. It happened in multiple steps and each time he's too busy moving forward to notice, but at some point it clearly hits him that nothing will ever be the same again. I think that's why the part about the "being an underachiever" as you call it is important here, because Fortuna would have been 1000 times happier if he was your average Joe. High INT is nice but it needs high WIS to follow and he didn't have that.

Also the part about being happy with being an underachiever rubs me the wrong way.
What rubs you the wrong way about the "underachiever" stuff? I'd say it's not about being an underachiever, but rather a recurring theme of the author that a simple and honest life is always at the core of self fulfillment. It's not really telling you to be a boring wagie or something, but you can tell the auhor loves to promote self improvement through physical exercise, effort in general, and socialization.

I didn't expect MC to pull through and start getting better by digging holes, especially since this started as a joke, but it actually ended up being relevant.

A whirlwind first episode. Okay episode 2 starts off with probably the most insane shit I've ever seen in animu. All I have to say is Bad Dog.

Seems like they get brought back, maybe they are dead, it isn't clear exactly yet.
Which brings me to an unansked question, what anime?

With the second to last episode of Delicious In Dungeon out it turns out it ended two manga chapters further then I predicted but about right. Peeking at the next couple chapters, they are the perfect start to a second season which will hopefully also be 24 episodes - as it covers them coming up with their plan to turn Falin human again and the Dungeon starting to change and become dangerous.
