Brain Powerd is super rewarding and satisfying to watch, though. It expects you to put all the pieces together and figure out what's happening yourself; it doesn't spoonfeed anything to you. Because of this the character interactions feel more realistic and engaging. The protagonist is quite likeable -- maybe even moe. I also like how the mecha, which are sentient, behave like animals rather than humans. The show does have some unintentionally funny moments, though, such as the "Orphan has become the 53rd state" scene (but that's mostly due to the music and the absurdity of the American livery). Think of this show as a weirder, fast-paced Turn A Gundam.
I have to still make my way through the Gundams (currently on ZZ), but I will most likely watch it after Turn A. Turn A is probably the Gundam I'm the most excited for so I'm glad Brain Powerd is even remotely close to that.

The only other thing I know about Brain Powerd is the Christmas present scene which probably goes hard in context but is really funny out of context. Also lmao at all of the Japanese comments trying to understand the cultural context of Christmas in America.

I've never understood why this scene has become memed. He even says "for you to take some time off", so he's clearly not mad just because he didn't get a Christmas present. Also this episode (I think it's when Jonathan sneaks into Novis Noah in a Saudi disguise) is when the show really began to click for me, so there you go.

It looks like that I'm a Behemoth, an S-Ranked Monster, but Mistaken for a Cat, I Live as an Elf Girl's Pet, will be getting an anime adaptation, similar (?) to how My Life as Inukai-san's Dog got one too:

What will be the next "My Life as X Animal" be? A rabbit? A frog? A rattlesnake?

Nah, he's just whiny and the mother has no character to speak of, she's just Bad Adult #100.

The duality of man.

⏰ as fuck on a personal level, but almost 15 years after dropping it I found out that the animu adaptation of Toriko finished airing in 2014, while the manga concluded in 2016. It was on such a slow boil that I legitimately believed it would be running forever like DBZ or One Piece, I remember getting bored to death during fillers and annoyed by the amount of QUALITY* present thanks to inexperienced B team animators. Also censorship. Apparently it only got worse as the anime went on.

Started to watch Dragonball Super. Last time I watched DBZ was when I was in middle school so its been a while since I have seen these characters, really enjoying it so far on season 2. Its just mindless enough to have on for background noise while still being entertaining and easy to keep up with.

My wife has never seen DBZ so shes a bit lost, but because of cultural osmosis she can recognize most of the characters and their traits.

The only other thing I know about Brain Powerd is that the OP is full of naked women.

I'm an OLD SCHOOL Masamune fan. Have the original comic run and manga of Dominion. His greatest work, in my opinion.

I even have the action figures for the Puma sisters on my wall that an ex got for me years ago

I don't watch much anime or read much manga nowadays, but I'm definitely a fan of the late '80s-'90s stuff.

have you seen the super movies? i would recommend watching them first.

I recently heard of a 90s mecha anime OVA called Power Dolls (sometimes written Power DoLLs), but a web search later reveals it was a series of hex based games with anime FMV?

So I started looking for something else, and decided on Cross Ange, which is later vintage, but might be good?

I'm reading Appleseed now and wow, I didn't expect it to be so good. The art is among the best manga art I've ever seen.

Power Dolls is a fairly entertaining OVA. I haven't played the games, but I had a good time with it. I recommend it if you want an original military mecha universe that's not the usual Gundam/Macross/Votoms.

There's been no announcement of it getting axed yet, although I'm a bit behind on the manga so I don't know what going on, all I know about mmyy is that its ranking near the bottom and a few anons think that the author is unhappy with the fact that its not popular and is speedrunning to another pppppp ending.

The whole Jump lineup is pretty shit right now, here's the average rankings for the last 8 weeks if anyone wants to pick it apart, but I'm only reading maybe 3 or 4 series right now

It was doing fine and even had some interesting characters and suddenly the plot started moving fast in this past 5 chapters and when I mean fast I mean covering an entire arc fast
