My apologies for being late on this, since I’ve been gone for two weeks straight. I just needed to post this since I thought it was funny.

I find it both amusing and wild to think that these two couples:

They managed to “do the deed” before this “couple”:

While not surprising, it speaks volumes as to how much the first couple managed to make this one look like child’s play. I haven’t even finished watching the anime since I loved Uzaki-Chan’s first season, and I might just have to re-read the manga from the beginning to see where I left off.

Plus, in the case of the first anime, I was under the impression that this character was the real favorite:

Who here has seen the 1984 Kenya Boy 「少年ケニヤ」movie?

Let’s just say I’m surprised this is still on YouTube for reasons I won’t spoil beyond the plot summary.

This movie focuses on an eleven year old boy called Murakami Wataru who lives with his parents in Kenya in 1941 when it was still under British control. As war had just broken out between the Allies and Japan, his father was planning to take his family back to Japan. As he was preparing to do so, Wataru runs off in the Kenyan savannah and gets lost. Then one day, he finds a dying Black tribesman that he saved and was welcomed to the tribe.

It’s considered one of the worst anime movies ever made. I consider it more of a “so bad it’s good” type of movie. I recall there are scenes that might cause seizure though so be aware as the anime industry did not deal with this problem until the Pokémon‘s Porygon episode forced the industry to deal with this.

The movie uses several art style. It starts and ends with live action sequence. The first instance of animation believe it or not used rotoscoping which gives it an aged 1940s style. It quickly changed to a traditional 1980s anime art style which it keeps for most of the rest of the movie. I would have liked to see more fluid animation given that it was a full-fledged movie and not just on TV. The most bizarre part is how there are certain parts of the movie where the scenes that act as bridges to the next part of the story look like moving storyboards. I don’t know if this was for aesthetic purpose or if they ran out, but it looks unfinished. I liked the two live-action scenes, but the rest of the film should have been traditional animation.

I will say that I enjoyed the score for this film. It’s clear that this is the part that got the most effort, which is surprising since this is otherwise a B movie. Here’s the vinyl record if you want to give a listen.

The writing on the other hand. Oh boy, you’re in for a treat if you like insane writing because this movie has it in spades. My summary of the plot into only scratches the surface to how much shit happens. Just when you think things can’t get any weirder, the film manages to escalate the insanity. By the time it’s over, you’ll ask yourself how they packed so much shit in what is a house of card. Yet despite all of the plot holes and mistakes in writing, it’s still a fun popcorn movie to laugh your ass off at. It’s also very politically incorrect as you’ll find out soon in the movie.

Your mileage may vary. If you like bad B movie to take the piss out of, you’ll enjoy this ride.

Fun fact, but this is based on a 1960s (I think) manga. Apparently it’s popular enough to get a movie, but I’m surprised no one has done a fan translation of the manga yet since one was done of the anime. So little is know about it that it does not even have a MyAnimeList page.

The one thing that surprised me about that movie, was that this movie was the only (?) voice acting role that Wataru's VA did. And he seemed to have just disappeared, since he hasn't (?) done any other voice over work afterwards.

And if the Germans could only make that weak of an atomic bomb, let alone if using it, the US would have laughed their ass off with how little destruction it did.

Probably the most hilarious of the many plot holes of the film. The two atom bombs burned Hiroshima and Nagasaki to crisp yet somehow Wataru, the German girl (ethnicity totally an Axis reference), Wataru’s father, and Zega somehow survived a German atom bomb. Then it turns into an acid trip where Wataru somehow encounters a ton of dinosaurs for reasons never explained. Then everyone gets to go home.

Never seen a climax like this and likely never will again.

I see it as more of they don't want to show the porn stuff that people would like, but instead show the porn stuff that people would abhor, and make the scenes so pointless, that they are there just for shock value. The Last of Us 2's infamous sex scene (and Sony's hypocrisy about removing sexual content in other games on PlayStation), the Velma cockroach sex scene, and Cuties as a whole, come to mind.
Which is catering to exactly that audience. They're so maladjusted that they perceive anything even remotely sexually appealing as porn and want it gone before it triggers their addiction.

Lol this made me laugh.

A lot people were hoping that Season 2 would match Season 1's quality of animation. But that was Studio Madhouse. This is JC Staff, not a bad studio but fans have high expectations.
I didn’t see it posted, but they actually released a teaser trailer.

Based on this short animation and music, I am cautiously optimistic they will take their time and make sure it isn’t shit like S2 was

Forgive me for going on an autistic rant that I posted in another site about a show that really doesn't deserve it, but having rewatched Valvrave, I really need to express my frustrations how the writer Ichirou Okouchi portrayed relationships in it.

A huge problem I felt that kept Haruto from growing as a character was his relationship with Shouko. To me, that ship was doomed the instant he became a Valvrave pilot, given his inhuman nature meaning that he'll inevitably see her wither and die. But fine, I'm all for seeing tragic romances. Unfortunately, all it really did was stifle any growth he could've had. His refusal to tell her the truth about him really felt like he was trying to hold onto whatever he could. Okay, I get it. But as it went on, this really started to get on my nerves, especially once Saki entered the fray.

Rukino Saki. My favorite character in that show, and one who I still think is one of Sunrise's best heroines from the 2010s (alongside Cross Ange's Ange). Sure, she may have started out with less than stellar reasons for being a pilot, but she was unique in the cast in that she actually got character development and had more layers to her compared to the rest (L-Elf and Akira were the other ones that got that as well). Throughout the show, she showed that she was willing to always be there for Haruto. As controversial as the infamous Valvrape moment was, it still showed that she cared so much for him that she didn't hold it against him, saying it was the curse, not him.

Moreover, she was someone who shared his inhuman nature, and again I stress, never blamed him for anything she went through. And that even included how she was completely screwed over by the writers in the second half from her abandonment, to her torture, and her public execution, all of which were hard for me to watch, (yes I know that's autistic). Heck, even though she loved him, she was willing to allow him to be with Shouko, despite her admitting that him losing his memories of Shouko meant that she may have had a chance. If that doesn't scream "obvious choice" I don't know what does.

But no, Haruto doesn't see what's right in front of him, and instead still chooses Shouko. Saki doesn't even appear in many of the memory runes that are lost, even the one that featured the other pilots (a stupid plot-point in my opinion), with the majority still being that of Shouko. Shouko this, Shouko that. Could he be any more of a simp?

The thing is though, the fact that he didn't want to share his true nature with Shouko for fear of how she would react (along with feeling that he didn't have the right to have feelings) just says to me that it wasn't going to work. Relationships have to be built on trust, and if you don't have enough faith that they'll still accept you, then how are you going to function as a couple?

It didn't even work on Shouko's end either. She has a responsibility to do what is best for the new citizens that she now governs as PM, and trying to hold onto a childhood crush that now has his own responsibilities as a Valvrave pilot, and unknown to her, is also not human anymore is just begging for trouble. They just simply clash too much, all of which culminates in the infamous betrayal once she learns the truth. And to be frank, I kind of see why she was so upset, at least in terms of him not trusting her with the truth. But getting upset that he forgot the childhood promise. Girl, you've got bigger things to worry about than that right now.

Again, it just shows how I feel that holding on to this relationship really prevented either character from maturing. Why they decided to make this the main one is beyond me, unless it was because of melodrama. All I could think was why in the world Haruto didn't get together with Saki, as I felt both characters grew thanks to it, which I much prefer seeing in a relationship.

TL;DR: Okouchi has no idea what makes for a good fictional relationship aside from which one can produce the most melodrama.

Oh look you found me.

I like to repost on many sites what I’m thinking so I can get a variety of responses. Though I’m not realizing that I really need to better pick which ones to do so with.

Back to the topic at hand, the best relationships in anime/manga I feel are the ones that not only have both characters grow and change through them, but do so in a positive manner (though if it is meant as a tragedy, then this isn’t strictly needed).

Given how I’ve spent too much energy ranting about how I think Valvrave screwed the pooch in this area, are there any anime you guys can think of that features relationships like the ones I described?

Valvrave screwed the pooch
That's not the only thing it raped...

My favourite tangent about Valvrape the Penetrator is that if you think about it in a historic allegory context, the federation is the ww2 Allies, Earth is the Nazis, the school is dindu nuffin Japan and it's revealed the entire conflict was created by vampire Jews. And it ends with Japan deciding to become the new Jews.

I’d rather not go into a whole song and dance again about how much the relationships infuriated me in the show, so I’ll just say that, if they were going to include that infamous scene, they had to do more with it.

Either show her struggling with trauma afterwards and how it affected both parties involved, or do what it seemed like it was going to do, which is to make it so that she realizes how much the curse affects him and decide to help shoulder his burden.

But no, that would get in the way of the oh so important childhood friend thing, wouldn’t it?

I am coping really hard guys. I just found out that the next volume of my favorite manga, Miss Black General, is not coming out this month as I had been misled to believe. It comes out in August. There are no fan translations, and I've been sitting here blue-balled on a cliff hanger for eight months now. How am I supposed to read about my tard wife now? Regardless though it's a great Manga, and I thoroughly recommend it. A little ecchi, but not outrageously so, and very funny. You can't find the most recent volume online anywhere though unless you pay for it, but the first 8 are available.

Nearing the end of the first broadcast of Gintama. Wonder if it was the first opening in MS Paint

They did way more than kiss...
Gintama was probably the first anime to do something like this which doesn't surprise me at all. This show is one of those shows you could tell the staff was having fun making all the way through while saving as much money as possible.

The only good non-joke tranny I ever saw in a creative work was from Fire Punch with the female movie Otaku who literally has a healing factor. The sheer irony of her situation along with her being more or less obsessed with becoming Clint Eastwood is why it works.
Kiku from One Piece is pretty good trans representation and her identity isn't treated as a joke. There is even a scene where she goes to hot springs with other female characters and everyone is chill with her, there is nothing predatory. Other good non-joke character from Japanese media are Isabella Yamamoto, Alluka, Ryuji Ayukawa and Mizuki Akiyama.

I like the fact that left handed animators had to work on this opening with their right hand and right handed with left. One of my favourite jokes from the first season is that one sequence with mannequins or that one episode which beginning is just genga slide show.

Or spending too much budget on an unrelated gag. Which is always a funny gag
