The two mangas are unconnected, except for the second being a remake of the first, and by two different authors. The first Wolf Guy manga came out back in the 80s and I haven't read that one to comment on it. The second, Wolf Guy-Wolven Crest, I have read, however, and WHOOOOOOOO BOY! Its by the duo that gave us Akumetsu, and let me tell you, its earns the seinen moniker. Sex, nudity, and ultra violence are the name of the game here. Its also immensely controversial. I could tell you why, but I don't want to spoil it for you if you don't want it spoiled.
Goddamn I hate Wolf Guy (the 2007 one) so much when I first read it. I wanted a cool werewolf manga and I got this. I'd been better off reading a H manga instead.

I'm currently reading Lady Crystal is a Man. It's not a bad Troon manga as both the fl and ml were forced to be the opposite gender and actually work hard to pass (with the art style very clearly hinting at their real genders), but it does explore gender identity in an interesting way

So in other words its more of a h manga than basically a cool action manga about a werewolf ( so its another gantz but its a werewolf ).

Trigger is so fucking back. 2 Consecutive Cour Dungeon Meshi isn't what I was expecting either but I'm so fucking excited. Also is the dragon not going to be CGI? That'd be crazy if true.

Nope, it is way worse than Gantz. In fact, I will say it's an insult to Gantz to be compared with Wolf Guy. Gantz is actually good. It's not even the sex scenes that are bad either, but you have to read it to find out why.

There are legit h-mangas that have better plots.

I'm ready for my yearly dose of wholesome anti-entropy and baby making propaganda.

For me, the main appeal of FranXX was the relationship between the two leads, and how they both grow as a result of the bond between them (hence the Jian Bird motif).
Pretty much this, though...
Funnily enough, it was when Mitsuru and Kokoro got more focus over Hiro and Zero Two in the second half that I felt ended up being one of the crippling flaws of said half, along with plot points being flown through without proper set-up or utilization, along with things happening without enough foreshadowing.
... I was honestly more interested on the Mitsuru and Kokoro dynamic and how far they went to stop any potential for natural breeding.
The "fanbase" lost its shit because the anime dare to announce that male and female bonding is the norm, and that the difference genres are distinct, no joke. Already in 2018 trannies seethed and malded about it. The show in the end is very mid and centred primarily of the main duo relationship and the children gaining individually, rather than them all being child soldiers (which to be fair, is just as overused plot element). Biggest issue is the show upping the pacing near the end, but it's not like you miss anything important.
But the end went totally out of the rails, felt like if the series decided to go from this whole oppressive society and their fucked up gender and breeding dynamics and instead go full Gurren Lagann for the end. I will admit I did like the bitter sweetness of the epilogue.

The manga on the other hand is more straight laced, a lot of the plot threads that kind of get dropped in the series or speedran through (the single digits) get more of a presence in the manga and the whole alien plot is more coherent, but I honestly felt it ended like a fart. Anime at least gave some closure.

The series is still not anything that I would file as groundbreaking, but I've seen worse and I do keep good memories of watching it. Also, Kiss of Death is a banger of an OP

On other topics. I follow a bunch of manga weekly from the Shueisha site and I'm amazed by how far Jujutsu Kaisen and Boku No Hero have fallen, and for completely opposite reasons. Jujutsu seems like the author is desperate to finish the series as fast as possible ever since the middle of the weird battle royale arc. Boku on the other hand is dragging everything to a crawls pace (and shat on the whole premise of the series with Iron Might). Monster #8 started very strong but I'm growing colder as time goes on with it. Spy X Family I've just accepted that the "main plot" takes a backseat a lot of the time and I'm enjoying the more slice of life parts of it. Blooming Love and You and I are Polar Opposites are basically concentrated sugar, but have relationships that get very quickly to the "dating" stage which is something I find very rare in romance manga and are a nice distraction.

But as of now my highlights of the week (outside of OP and Chainsaw, though the latter has been kind of meh for a while) are Sakamoto Days (fantastic action scenes and pretty fun, also feels like it isn't aiming for too high of a chapter count), Undead Unluck (started incredibly lame, then hit it's stride but it's been constant fire since it's "time skip"), Make the Exorcist Fall in Love (the drawing takes a while to get used to since it's one of those art styles where everyone looks like a kid..., but it has had some of the most fucked up visuals I've seen in any shounen jump manga and I'm proper intrigued), Magilumiere (magical girls but it's actually office jobs, it sounds retarded but I'm pretty damn engaged) and have some hopes for Kindergarten Wars (I'd file this as a gag manga with some moments of gravitas, has given me a good few chuckles.).

If we're talking new favorites in Shonen Jump. Then Dandadan takes it for me easily. I mean this panel alone sold me:

I binged it a while back (at the time they were fighting the mecha-Godzilla) and had a really fun time with it. The art’s really good and it handles the emotional moments pretty well too.

Oh yeah, I'm caught all up. Yeah, it's crazy how dynamic the art is. At the pace it's going it may end up being one of my favorite mangas.
The mecha hand from Chapter 68 is definitely one of my favourite pages of the manga.
Dandadan - Chapter 68 - 13.jpg

Also, later in CH.69 where the real main character of the series makes the coolest mecha of this decade.

What is this from? I'm looking to expand my weekly reading list.

Also the second to last panel of Oshi No Ko this week was pretty good.
DanDaDan, to say without spoiling it's not mainly a mecha manga, but a culmination of many genres, where the mecha part just becomes a part of it later on in the manga.

It's a bit slow at first, but not really sluggish. You might need to give it some chapters for it to get good, or at least a dynamic read. It'll be easier on a binge honestly, a really long arcs just ended recently.
Slow is fine. I'm a big My Hero Academia fan and the entire season 1 of that show (and presumably anime) is Midoriya crying constantly for no reason.

Shit and in Oshi No Ko's case, after 10 chapters they're like "Yo but like what if we killed an extremely important character and did a ten year time skip?"

There is no sign at all that Demon Slayer has lost its appeal with its fans, and it didn't completely stumble into its ending like a blind drunk like Bleach or Attack on Titan did. Trying to pretend otherwise is just cope.
I'll defend Bleach's ending. The ending was rushed and Tite Kubo didn't exactly get to tell the story he wanted to tell. The light novel CFYOW was left to tie together a lot of loose ends. When you take that into account, you CAN see the story Kubo was ultimately trying to tell and there were enough pieces in TYBW alluding to events of CFYOW that do make me believe the stuff in the light novel wasn't completely pulled out of its ass. When you put all that on paper, you have a relatively decent story in theory. It's disassembled and you have to squint really hard to see it, but there is a good story there and the anime has made lots of good changes integrating parts of ideas from CFYOW.

AOT has no such defense. That ending was mostly planned out from the beginning. Hell, neither does Naruto. I am firm believer that the idea Kubo's health was the main reason Bleach was forced to end so quickly is a lie or a secondary reason at best. Kubo was claiming to have another decade of story left in him at the start of TYBW and I have a feeling that freaked out folks at who wanted the Big 3 era to end for whatever various reasons. Sure, his health probably was a factor but not the main one. I also find it very suspect we didn't get an explanation on the rushed ending until around the time the TYBW anime was announced.
