it's a shame that zom100 has such a fucked production because as I was binging episodes to catch up, I remembered how much fun this series was.

I think the series jumped the shark a bit with the AI hotel and then the secret lab in the more recent chapters. I know they had to expand things further from the characters just going from point A to B but it feels odd introducing a bigger story moment like that after like 40 chapters of more light hearted day to day stuff. I was kind of ok with the characters just casually exploring whats left of the world while completing their to do lists.

Been a fun ride all the same though. Shame about the production. The first story arc is really good and the climax was pleasant and would have adapted well.

Well Shirou does appears in the latest chapters
No kidding? That's actually ballsy. Do they try to make it ambiguous or is it clear what route he actually did?
I know, and I gotta read that... doesn't change I want more lol
Fate illya is pretty... eh. But there is a fun part where an alt shirou just steals the show. So much so I think he has his own prequel movie.

I wouldn't mind seeing more adventures with shirou even if nasu finally has to put his foot down and decide or design a "canon" route (heavens feel baby)

Really you kids have plenty of fate stuff to enjoy. It's tsukihime fans like me that suffer without content. The mages finally got their own show, where the hell is the church's? They are such a criminally under represented faction despite being equal In power to the mages. Id pay good money for a kotomine prequel show or anything to get their perspective on how screwed up things are.

Vow in the Snow is the one gem in a line of honest garbage when it comes to the illia series, because it isn't loli pedo bait and is just Shiro doing cool shit and ending with a UBW usage that was off the scale. That and more Kiritisgu. Can never have too much of that old man

The church has their thing; you ever hear of Tsukihime? But yes more of them. As for a Canon ending, probably close to what strange fake has is the closest were getting.

The kotomine cameo was genius but otherwise yes. Man I want more kotomine before shirou in all honesty. What's he up to in grand order these days and did he get animated in one of the movies?

Pobably close to what strange fake has is the closest were getting.
? How's that going? Last I heard they had a church cyborg running around kicking ass so that was cool.

I don't play the bankruptcy simulator lol. But yes having him in the Ramen shop made me lol. I think the only way we'll get more Kotomene action is when they get off their ass and make the Hollow Ataraxia adaption.

I've read the manga adaption. Have not hit that lol, its way behind. But the church has sent a overseer, which is quite neat.

"The Time of the Terminally ill Extra" is worth reading I think.

Not much but his final ascension is neat

I'm returning to Darling in the FranXX to finish it for realsies, and God, it's so... mid. It's trying to do its own thing while following the formula/steps from Evangelion, but it's just... okay. There's literally nothing special about it. The FranXX designs are okay, and at least there's different klaxosaur designs, and that's about it. The teen drama is like everything else out there in how boys discover girls and girls have to learn to deal with boys, and that's totally the whole point of their stamen/pistil theme going on. There doesn't seem to be any real stakes to be had, humanity doesn't look like it's really on the precipice of extinction, they're just instead growing more apathetic.

I know the fanbase lost its shit a little over halfway into the show because of shipping bullshit, but was that really all the discourse? I hear the plot becomes more nonsensical around that time, too, but the signs were already there by the seventh episode mark.

Maybe I'm just noticing this more because of hindsight, or because I've become more grown up since 2018 and can recognize as such. I dunno, I'm just about to approach the halfway mark and am waiting to see where shit supposedly hit the fan. I wonder if I had kept up with everything if I would've still noticed its problems or not.

He isn’t animated in one of the movies. He’s pretty much an antagonist for Part 2 of the games storyline and only appeared prominently in 5 chapters those being the Part 2 prologue, Anastasia, Atlantis, Olympus, and the Seventh Lostbelt chapter that’s only out in JP.

He’s also a playable servant now

For me, the main appeal of FranXX was the relationship between the two leads, and how they both grow as a result of the bond between them (hence the Jian Bird motif).
And I definitely get that, but all the symbolism about male-female bonding is as subtle as a train entering a subway tunnel that that particular growth has to be for all of the characters and not just Hiro and Zero Two, but it's clearly more biased towards the two. I honestly would rather see the other pilots work things out between themselves instead of the show playing favorites and trying to break apart the other bonds to make the main pair appear more super special. And yet the anime wants us to think everyone else's dramas are too boring in comparison when there's clearly fucked up stuff that's affected them all, not just Hiro and Zero Two.

Maybe that's just me getting upset at another anime for treating its side characters poorly. Legit, someone like Mitsuru has potential to be more interesting than Hiro, but of course he still ends up being tethered to him--which might be the point, but his character arc seems to have come and gone within the same episode. And then there's supposed to be this sudden revelation about Kokoro's "true" nature that wasn't hinted at until now, and I'm just going to call this the "A-1 Clause", because just about everything that studio touches falls apart after the midway point.

I should have more coherent thoughts when I finish now that I'm halfway in, I'm trying to give this the benefit of the doubt.

The "fanbase" lost its shit because the anime dare to announce that male and female bonding is the norm, and that the difference genres are distinct, no joke. Already in 2018 trannies seethed and malded about it. The show in the end is very mid and centred primarily of the main duo relationship and the children gaining individually, rather than them all being child soldiers (which to be fair, is just as overused plot element). Biggest issue is the show upping the pacing near the end, but it's not like you miss anything important.

Hows wolfguy and which one should i read since theres two versions of it.
The two mangas are unconnected, except for the second being a remake of the first, and by two different authors. The first Wolf Guy manga came out back in the 80s and I haven't read that one to comment on it. The second, Wolf Guy-Wolven Crest, I have read, however, and WHOOOOOOOO BOY! Its by the duo that gave us Akumetsu, and let me tell you, its earns the seinen moniker. Sex, nudity, and ultra violence are the name of the game here. Its also immensely controversial. I could tell you why, but I don't want to spoil it for you if you don't want it spoiled.

Funnily enough, it was when Mitsuru and Kokoro got more focus over Hiro and Zero Two in the second half that I felt ended up being one of the crippling flaws of said half, along with plot points being flown through without proper set-up or utilization, along with things happening without enough foreshadowing.

From what I've heard, the reason for all the problems in the second half is due to being rushed and not enough planning. The first 15 episodes were planned and written well-before production actually began, but after that, they were pretty much flying by the seat of their pants, explaining the issues present in the last episodes. I'm not exactly sure what happened behind the scenes, whether it was the shift to Cloverworks, Trigger not getting along with Cloverworks (they even had several storyboards rejected by them), the rumor that it was supposed to be split-cour before being shoved together, or something else, but clearly, the production was rather troubled.

It's a shame, because I do actually have fond memories of the show, and wouldn't mind them returning to it via an OVA or something to give it a better conclusion.
