i cant be the only one who watches Helck? sure the animation is cheap. feels like im watching a seasonal anime that came out 10 years ago, but it has been faithful to the story so far. atleast its not full of CGI and the voice acting is solid.

I read the manga but I still have to catch up to the anime, I said it earlier in the thread but the voices are solid. Have they gotten into his backstory yet?

After watching lots of children's shows on the more comedic and lighthearted side, does anyone have any suggestions for kids' shows that are more serious, such as Digimon Tamers, Webdiver, Zambot 3, or Dennou Coil? Thanks.
These are a bit of throwback to the Toonami Jetstream days. Some of my favorites are Hikaru no Go, MAR Marchen Awakens Romance, Blue Dragon, and Skyland Le Nouveau Monde. Skyland isn't really an anime, but it has similar styling and is great for a more mature leaning children's show from the French.

I'd always heard it as Rodda's kids were big anime weebs and she went out of her way to shop it around to nip studios to get a cartoon made for them. They came out with at least one DS game based on the anime so it must've been at least somewhat popular.

Also seem to remember hearing that when the anime adapted the first 8 book series' worth of content they came up a few episodes short, so instead of adding filler earlier or stretching sequences out they just did a bit of epilogue stuff focusing on Leif as the new king of Deltora, separate from where the sequel books took it.
Maybe, I heard it was the other way around where the studio approached Rodda and the reason why she accepted is because her kids where weebs and liked anime, and the studio promised to be mostly faithful to the story compared to what some film offers, at least that's what she's said in a interview or two years ago. I think the game might of been more of an adaptation of the books since it came it less then a year after it started airing and from screenshots of the game the artwork used kinda seem closer to the japanese artwork of the books rather than the anime designs

As for the anime I've seen a few news articles saying that the tv anime was originally planed for 52 episodes covering the first 8 books in the first part, but the studio decided to make 13 extra episodes to milk it because it was average 4-5% viewership while airing (keep in mind most late night anime are lucky to get 1%),
This is just a bit of speculation but this might of been the reason why part 2 or 3 was never adapted since the all 3 book series had been translated for nips by 2005. However being faithful to the books was one of the main conditions Rodda had, so the anime original stuff might of soured things a bit (could also explain why said 13 episodes where never brought over when the series was licensed).

Fuck anime, Rangers Apprentice was based, read that one instead of the big-eye comics.
You know, I think Ranger's was my favorite out of the bunch actually, though I find it an add coincidence that it and Deltora where both Australian fantasy kids series. Was always kind of bummed it never got anything outside of it books outside maybe a small flash game I vaguely remember, but given recent show/movie adaptations, I'm kinda glad it probably never will.

Helck is great, kino even. The VA'ing is the best part honestly. Vermilio's VA is the best for me.

It was actually really solid for a book for preteens. The characters were well written and the plots didn't talk down to an audience of young boys. There was a flash game, around that time (early 2010's or so) it was very trendy to make a flash website about your book. Even Captain Underpants, the greatest work of literature ever seen by man, had a ton of flash content on its website.

I've done it bitches. I've beaten Fate. After much debate, it was a classic run, with voice acting of course. This has taken months of on and off, and I just have to say... damn. Damn Daniel! If you have to ask me which I prefer overall, anime vs vn... eh, kinda mixed.

The fate route definitely needs to be read, because Deen is just a meme. UBW... honestly with both adaptions, and the fight scenes, I like the anime more. Ufotable changed some stuff, but I'd argue for the better in terms of taking advantage of being a anime, and filling some gaps like Medeas backstory.

Heaven's Feel: I am torn. It's a mess reading wise, a epic one, but it's dense as fuck, and Ufotable choosing to cut shit, TONE DOWN THE SEX SCENES, HOLY FUCK, I GET IT, THEY FUCKIN, DONT MAKE ME BREAK MY MOUSE SKIPPING THIS PLEASE- anyway, where was I? Yeah, a lot of it was good, a lot was filler trying to make up for the fact Sakura basically got no screen time in the other two routes. The movies cut that shit. Also kinda cut too much of Kirel's backstory, and Zoukens, and rushed through the Holy Grail in terms of mechanics. Honestly you'd need a 36 episode series to sort out all that shit, and I'm amazed they did as well adapting it as they did. Recommendation: watch the movies first, then read it.

This has been the most mental read I've had since The Count of Monte Cristo, I'm glad I read it, but im not picking up Hollow Ataraxia until AT LEAST next year, thank you and good night frens!

Issue is with watching the anime/films beforehand is that you already spoil the major events in the VN so you know what's important and what's filler, as well as making fight scenes appear less interesting.

Fate in general is so different nowadays from its origin it's ridiculous.

Also first episode of Friern, it looks gorgeous and I'm prepared to cry.

Parasite in love seems interesting so i will give it a try and btw dont read ana satsujin or at the very least read until chapter 82 man what disapointment it was.

Eh, somewhat, but also no. Some stuff you read, like the Caster arc in UBW, and it's clear they had to cut SO much shit, because her backstory is the same few backgrounds and a couple text walls. I blame that on design creep and time limits. They had to print those disc's man.

in contrast some areas got more focus that I wish they did in the anime/movies, like Kirel, Zouken, hell, Saber liking lion cub plushies because she adopted one or some shit

Really they're separate experiences. The animes for the most part tried to patch some holes, but they only had so many episodes, and some things wouldn't fit. The VN's gave you everything, but at points it was overwhelming, because Nasu is just autistic. Again, read both.

bro i know. I just wanna see the main cast again damn it, progress the main timeline, not FGO, even if its fun.

The closest you'll have to that is Case Files but given the route system, it doesn't follow any particular route (most likely UBW or Fate) but does say that something happened after the general events of Fate/Stay Night.

My head cannon on that is the first half, pre F/SN, happened, everything else is a splinter timeline where it seems pretty much the main cast is alive but Rin just hasn't shacked up with Shiro, and he's in Iraq or something

They did that anime so much fucking justice those first 4 episodes were glorious. The soundtrack is also absolutely beautiful minus the OP. What the fuck were they thinking with that OP, I was expecting some ARIA the Animation shit or Kino's Journey shit but not this.

the first episodes of Frieren aired today, i need to watch them. next week has some intriguing stuff airing.

Fieren is slow but is a nice relaxed show. So far Fern goes from being a small child to looking slightly older then Fieren. I suspect over the series she will be seen as Fierens mother then grandmother
