That one was really just a fakeout Magical Girl Pretty Sammy opening used for the ending credits of the Tenchi Muyo "Mihoshi Special" OVA (which really needs a fricking re-release since it's one of the minor Tenchi Muyo side-stories that Funimation never licensed after Geneon USA (previously Pioneer LDC USA) went defunct) before Pioneer LDC made Magical Girl Pretty Sammy into a real OVA series (also on the ancient Pioneer USA Mihoshi Special DVD) and then a TV series but there's one thing from that fakeout opening that I wish they had explored more: Villainess Kiyone.

I love regular Tenchi Universe Galaxy Police Detective First Class Kiyone Makibi but Villainess Kiyone might have been a fun alternate reality Kiyone had they made her a villain in the Pretty Sammy universes instead of coming up with an entirely new villainess, Ramia. Kiyone exists in the Pretty Sammy continuities but she's just a weirdo who works at the record store in the OVA continuity and is a teacher for another class in the TV series continuity.

Early 2000s anime endings just hit different. I mean, say what you will about Inuyasha (and believe you me, everybody already has), but that anime had some banger ED.

Especially the First:

You could say a similar thing with both Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny. Pretty good openings and outros. The rest of those shows are another matter.

The fact they went ahead and hired T.M. Revolution for the openings shows how big of a deal SEED was. It was going to be the new UC and the show sold absolute bangers.
Then it all came tumbling down with Destiny. Don't know much about the Japanese opinion on that show but the general opinion is that it's pretty bad. Only G-Bitch manages to outdo it.

Didn't the manga have even worse ending where it turns out the neighbour childhood girlfriend was a yandere?
dunno about the ending, but going by the anime having wtf out-of-nowhere love interests wouldn't surprise me.

I miss the openings of shows back then where house and dance beats were used. Remember these? And of course InitialD which is basically the super Eurobeat jukebox show.
should've grown up in germany where tv stations have no issue blasting kids saturday morning with techno and outright acid

biggest crime it never got a standalone release.
imagine being a parent and your kid going all out after getting hyped by that intro, it's like fucking caffeine in audio form.

Since people are listing 80s and 70s anime openings
why stop at openings?

Inuyasha is extremely nostalgic, and it's almost like they knew it would be, and did their best to evoke that sense. They succeeded, especially with that first ending. It's way up there.

Dragon Ball Super kinda sucks but one of its endings are really good (and it has a couple other decent ones, but mostly this first one):

At least it made buying those dub tapes for a cheaper price feel like a good deal, especially coming from a reputable company like Pioneer. This was probably what many of us older fans wanted to see.
I mean, if I was around during the struggle of collecting anime in the 90's, I would've cherished the dub tapes anyway because of how good the English cast was.

I'm usually a stickler for sub over dub, but Tenchi's dub was so good, I don't think I'll ever even bother with the sub version. Bruchard and Darling's portrayals as Ryoko and Ayeka are so good, they're the only voices I want to hear coming out of those character's mouths.

anime has become so normalized, the normalfags cant help themselves running it for everyone!

Magical Sempai Author Gets ‘Cancelled’ For Drawing NSFW Artwork, Deletes Her Twitter Account

BY SENPAI / UPDATED AUGUST 21, 2023

Fans on Twitter harass manga author Azu, resulting in her deleting her Twitter account and Pixiv Fanbox.

Magical Sempai is an anime and manga series, written and illustrated by Azu. Serialized in Weekly Young Magazine since 2016, Magical Sempai is an ecchi-comedy series that centers on a high school boy known as “Assistant.” He reluctantly joins the Magic Club at his school, as it’s a requirement.
In the club, he meets Magical Sempai, a clumsy girl who adores magic but is unfortunately quite bad at it. The series follows the pair as they practice magic tricks, often leading to hilarious and awkward moments between them.

A 12-episode anime adaptation was released in July 2019, garnering overall positive responses from anime fans.

Magical Sempai Draws NSFW, Gets Cancelled

Azu maintains a PIXIV FANBOX, akin to Patreon, where fans can donate money and receive special perks, such as requesting specific illustrations, including NSFW ones. It appears that some fans requested NSFW artwork of Magical Sempai, depicting her surrounded by many men.

Upon publishing the artwork, many fans of Magical Sempai began to criticize the author on social media.

The situation escalated when a fan modified the Japanese Wikipedia page for the franchise, adding the line, “According to the official description provided by the author, Tejina has physical relations with several men.”
Azu’s discovery of the Wikipedia edit greatly upset her, prompting a strong response on his PIXIV FANBOX:
“I found out that some scum desecrated the Wikipedia page of ‘Tejina Senpai’ shortly after I published this doujinshi. Please note that all characters, including the protagonist, are vi*gins. Consider this when you see my he*tai illustrations. What sense does it make to write all this? Precisely for this reason, he*tai illustrations are only for adults, both physically and mentally!”

Her message only added fuel to the fire, and many fans of the franchise continued to criticize her on Twitter. Later that day, Azu deactivated her Twitter account and removed her PIXIV FANBOX page.
The incident was widely shared on various Japanese social media websites, with reactions ranging from criticism of the author for drawing an inappropriate picture of a beloved character to sympathy for Azu’s situation.
Fans on Twitter harassed manga author Azu, leading to her deleting both her Twitter account and Pixiv Fanbox, reflecting the intense backlash she faced over his artistic choices.

Isn't Magical Sempai an ecchi anyway? What the fuck were the normies expecting from the author on her off-time?

I think this is a bit of a nothing burger since this autism isn't coming from western fags trying to censor a manga but one group of nip autisits sperging the mangaka was taking a lot of NTR commissions from another set of nip autists who where paying an arm and a leg for it.

This is actually nothing new for nips and not limited to coomers thinking with their dicks, If you really want to see a massive sperg fight between nips up look up why despite train otaku being the 3rd or 4th biggest other otaku groups in japan behind idol and maybe military otaku there is little crossover with anime and manga unlike with said other two groups.
Rough full story:
  • Back in the 80s a lot of trainfags where convinced that gunpla kits where putting model train shops out of business so they started vandalizing gunpla specific stores and otaku game shops
  • Animefags started to vandalize trainfags train watching spots and start painting the few remain train shops as yakuza fronts
  • This escalated and eventually peaked with the old Gianax building getting vandalized with both groups arguing the other did it
  • trainfags started to heavily push that all anime otaku where pedophiles but it backfired when that narrative started to include them and not just animefags.
  • Animefags decide to occasionally make the most fucked up loli VNs depicting train girls to get back at them and to paint them as the real child fuckers
  • Nowadays Every single murder or crime is immediately blamed on the other, i.e the kyoani arsonist was immediately pegged as a trainfag, an animefag serial killer supposedly was specifically killing trainfags, etc.
Also fun fact, this autistic sperg war is what created the stereotype in japan that otaku are fat useless NEETs that somehow have money to waste on walls of merch, specifically because a trainfag got assaulted by a fat animefag with a knife in the middle of the day years ago.

Seeing a new instance of slavery in isekai/fantasy always puts a smile on my face.
Great, another isekai with slavery in it. Its just become tiresome at this point. Also, have the Japanese never heard of indentured servitude?

This is so stupid. Fact is, most mangaka today got their start doing doujinshi and, in case anyone hasn't noticed, the vast majority of doujinshi is pornographic. Hell, there are plenty of mangaka who make porn on the side, including porn of the characters they use in their mainstream works. So why did the Otaku lose their crap over this?

What's the deal with Berserk? I saw how much people dick ride it, and I read up to the part where the skull knight shows up for the first time. I don't really like what I'm seeing so far, not content wise, just story wise. Is it overrated, or am I just not in on the hype?
I love it a lot because big man wields big sword and kills big things. He cry sometimes and maybe suck on a titty. 10/10

Could be lost in translation, but again, bring on the slavery and the seething. Keep the isekai genre niche as it should be.

Been watching a bit of those who hunt elves, very fun premise. I like the characters and even though it’s nothing special it’s a good one to kill time.

Imagine being excited over a current-day anime dub. Someone posts a clip of the dub of Eizouken and there are a few negative responses

Dub defenders and "aspiring voice actors" leaping to call anyone who doesn't care for recent years dubs incels or weebs or whatever, "Oh you think all Japanese voice actors intrinsically sound better than English anime dub VAs?!?" Oh, isn't it weird how the Japanese language sounds more natural when it's dubbed over a Japanese animation. Also the "you NERDS like reading!" bit, and the "OH AS OPPOSED TO 40-YEAR-OLD JAPANESE VAs WHO VOICE TEENAGERS?!?" bit.

I would have argued, years ago, there were actually better dubs being produced in the 2000s, but most dubs today are actually terrible cause it's an incestuous niche industry that barely pays anything and is perpetually unstable unless you're a fixture and even then there are people in there with a high school mean girl-clique mentality who will actually actively bar you if you don't brown-nose them.

The way to fix this would be if Crunchyroll, Funimation, Bang Zoom stopped massively rewriting scripts, miscasting actors for roles they don't fit, putting in a little effort and also had equipment that made the audio sound better than having the VAs recording their lines on a beat-up reel-to-reel tape recorder in an empty basement.
Time to bring back fandubs but with AI voices or something.

Any good animes that harken very strongly to the western fantasy genre. I remember this one ova where it's a bunch of girls in a dungeon and one pulls a switch and they fall to their deaths or something like that. I really don't watch a lot of tv or movies anymore so I just want some good ole fashioned kiwi recommends.
