Jojolion tried to save itself with the mini-story about SBRverse Joseph and old lady Lucy but the ending was still shit.
JoJolands started off as shit and will be shit for the foreseeable future.
>SBRverse Joseph
>old lady Lucy
That sounds like disappointment.

I always got Joseph vibes from Johnny, but skipping over Joseph is a bad sign. Battle Tendency was honestly my favorite part. So is the current Jojo the SBRverse Jotaro? Jojolion was Josuke-Kira that was not an entertaining lead.

I think Araki did the Joseph story because he genuinely forgot to put him in.
I think SBRverse Jotaro is both Kyo and Kira, because Holly is their mother.
There's a theory that Jodio and Dragona's (the new JoJo and his femboy trap brother's) mother, Barbara-Ann is supposed to be SBRverse Shizuka due to some weird Japanese naming thing. Jodio is SBRverse Joseph's grandson.

No, that was Josefumi.
I honestly stopped reading because I didn’t give a shit about most of the characters.

Name a more iconic duo.

I binged "Kaguya-sama: Love is War" these last few weeks, first the anime then finished the series by reading the manga.
It's my first time watching any romcom anime, I'm more into action/adventure. I always assumed romcom would fucking cringe, based on the shit I had seen on other anime, turns out it wasn't.

This series is actually really good, it's both funny and heartwarming, it also has little to no cringe, and almost no weeb-pandering.
I loved the dynamic between the main couple, loved the side characters, loved that the character actually acted somewhat like real teenagers, talking about relationships and sex in a natural way that I hadn't really seen much in Japanese media before.

But man, the ending was so shit. The last big arc felt like something from a completely different series, a stupid shonen plot out of nowhere.
I also didn't like that the series didn't give an actual conclusion to the main supporting characters. After wasting almost half the series developing them, they just leave their relationship open, having them act completely out of character, all for the sake of having a "pottery" moment at the end.

All and all, though, I still think it was a pretty good time.
I recommend it to those like me, with no romcom experience but with some curiosity in the genre.

anime or manga? the anime basically ends where they get together and cut out some stuff, which is a good point to end it. movie is eh, think someone mentioned a while back how the ice kaguya arc is kinda meh. it's not limited to anime that once the "will they/won't they" protags get together the quality noticeably drops. even kaguya-sama suffers from that. replacing them with ishigami/lino would also easily feel redundant or overshadowed by the originals (another issue romcoms often have when they run longer than necessary). personally I'm fine with not having absolutely every loose end tied up.

I'd also say kaguya-sama is an exception, there's a reason it got 3 seasons and a movie (plus 2 live action movies). a definitive conclusion can also often be worse, especially when it comes to harem comedies. if you leave things open enough everybody might walk away unsatisfied but at least not unhappy (and I take that over retarded shit like the ending of oreimo and the rage it caused any fucking day).

if you want more comfy rom-com my dress-up darling is probably the latest big one, my personal classics are kuragehime and net-juu no susume.
teasing master takagi-san is also popular af with 3 seasons and movie, but the humor never worked for me.

I gave up on Jojolion. I feel like the Antagonists really fail to have any personality, like they are a bit wacky but there’s nothing really memorable about them. In terms of both the main and minor villains.
I'll be honest I made it halfway through SBR and dropped off. I gave it a shot but the reboot characters just didn't do anything for me. The entire post-reboot continuity would work a lot better if it were its own standalone IP with no explicit connections to JJBA. Even by Stone ocean it felt like the whole thing was running out of steam and with a few tweaks the ending could have been a great franchise finale.

Manga. I found the ending to the anime enjoyable enough.
In the manga they spend a bunch of chapters developing Ishigami and Iino's relationship with some great chapter, only to leave it incomplete.

Nice, I'll check some of those once I feel in the mood for some romcom again.

I feel like Stone Ocean was fine, but Pucci is only saved as a villain by actually going through with his plan. I liked Jolyne, but as time went on I liked the stand users that were only slightly related to the Joestars/ Kujos doing shit.

I feel like the casts for certain parts are too bloated. Part 5 juggled them well enough, but 6 and 8 just felt like they could’ve trimmed the fat a lot more.

SBR is good, but it takes a while for the main plot to pick-up and a lot of the stand users unironically are guys who are easily shot to death because their stand is kind of a hindrance. 11 Men was the best stand from that part.

Just finished watching that Idaten series from back in '21. Seriously great visuals, legitimately interesting characters and story. Then they ran out of story to adapt and ended it on the biggest, most infuriating cliffhanger imaginable. I'm pretty salty about it.

Couldn't really get into it. The characters were too unlikeable for me, and starting the series off with a rape scene was a bit much.

Idk, I kinda liked having a villain with an overall weak stand that had to rely on manipulating other to cooperate with him for most of the show, and is there from day 1.

It's apperantly by the same guy who did the monster girl whores manga. Hopefully it will get at least a manga conclusion.

Today I learned that Disney is branching out into Anime.
From my perspective it's actually more like Bandai wanting another Gundam because for some reason they think Gundam will die off. They're pushing hard for this to be a multimedia franchise, they announced an SHFiguarts and model kits of the main girl and the mechs before the anime started airing to go alongside it. It looks anemic, to be honest, no wonder it's flopping already. Same with the tie-in game (to be published by Bamco of course), I'd rather just buy AC because I can trust that not to be a soulless cash grab. Maybe I'm just not their demographic but the moment I saw the bland male protag and offbrand Rei Ayanami I thought it was going to be boring shit.

That explains so much.

The characters worked for me, surprisingly. It felt like a mythology story but with both the gods and demons being both completely morally incomprehensible and utterly clueless. It gave it a nice alien atmosphere with a lot of tonal unpredictability. The opener did feel pretty gratuitous though.

Looks like Bandai still thinks mecha is a profitable genre in the West. As it turns out mecha is actually too smart of a genre for dumb Amerimutts for whom the only two anime genres seem to be "WOW COOL ACTION" shounenshit and "WOW PRETTY WAIFU" waifufag shit. Mecha falls within neither of those. It's too technical to appeal to shounen niggers and spics given mecha anime use the mecha as the main weapon in fights rather than flashy capeshit powers and there's no waifu appeal to be had. In fact, if you look at it the mecha anime that were successful are mostly remembered for their waifufag qualities nowadays. Code Geass gets brought up because of CC ass, Kallen and some of the Britannia girls like Cornelia and Viletta. Gurren Lagann had quite possibly the sluttiest 14 year old in anything ever in the form of Yoko Littner. Darling in the FranXX is solely brought up because of Knockoff Lum. Sure, some of those are above age of consent (the Geass girls are all 18+ and Yoko is 21 by the show's end because of a timeskip), but still.

This shows that the anime fanbase has descended into unabashed coomerism without any sense when it comes to story. Shounen is somehow surviving because of absolute normies. Outside of that, though? If it ain't ecchi, it won't sell.

This is the reason why I like Mushoku Tensei so much and why I hope it fully succeeds. It more reminds me of an old-fashioned seinen series like Gantz, Berserk, Parasyte, and Eden: It's an Endless World! or an old-fashioned adult anime like Blue Gender in how it deals with sex than a modern ecchi show or shounen series. Sex exists, its part of the world, but its treated in a realistic and matter of fact way. The main character was an otaku coomer in his original life and carries that over into his new life, initially, but this is treated like a character flaw he needs to overcome, and he grows out of it over the course of the story, and becomes less perverted as the story goes on. The show doesn't fall into the classic trap of engaging in waifu and ecchi bait like a lot of modern series do.

Imagine being excited over a current-day anime dub. Someone posts a clip of the dub of Eizouken and there are a few negative responses

dub watchers be like wow i cant wait to watch my favorite anime but with even worse voice acting done by 40yo white women from los angeles

Dub defenders and "aspiring voice actors" leaping to call anyone who doesn't care for recent years dubs incels or weebs or whatever, "Oh you think all Japanese voice actors intrinsically sound better than English anime dub VAs?!?" Oh, isn't it weird how the Japanese language sounds more natural when it's dubbed over a Japanese animation. Also the "you NERDS like reading!" bit, and the "OH AS OPPOSED TO 40-YEAR-OLD JAPANESE VAs WHO VOICE TEENAGERS?!?" bit.

I would have argued, years ago, there were actually better dubs being produced in the 2000s, but most dubs today are actually terrible cause it's an incestuous niche industry that barely pays anything and is perpetually unstable unless you're a fixture and even then there are people in there with a high school mean girl-clique mentality who will actually actively bar you if you don't brown-nose them.

The way to fix this would be if Crunchyroll, Funimation, Bang Zoom stopped massively rewriting scripts, miscasting actors for roles they don't fit, putting in a little effort and also had equipment that made the audio sound better than having the VAs recording their lines on a beat-up reel-to-reel tape recorder in an empty basement.

Dubs have actually steadily gotten *worse*. The best dubs now are like 20 years old. And it's not like we're getting dubs now where the actors generally try to match the mood and cadence of the original experience. A lot of people surprisingly don't like hearing the same 8 people who they know for certain are the same 8 people doing the same voice they do for 98% of their roles.
