Too bad the fan-translation of Yuri Danshi stopped at chapter 5 because it's otherwise a fun read.

It doesn't help the FLCL sequels were made because of Adult Swim wanting more FLCL iirc, and there was no real reason for them to be made from a creative standpoint.

I never found Stroheim particularly sympathetic, but he sure as hell was entertaining.

Hell, people were bitching just recently how he's a DLC character for the new JoJo fighting game. They didn't want to have to pay to play as a Nazi.

I have heard genuinely good buzz about it. Essentially being that Ange has some great character development in any anime despite the lesbians and borderline hentai.
I think it is hilarious that ANN and other sites threw massive shit fits about the cavity search when it literally only happens once and she's ripping limbs off the next minute.
Now imagine them doing a male version of this with all the extra hentai but gay.

Men gravitate to yuri because if nico ever even talked to a boy they'd riot and kill a few producers

Girls gravitate to yuri because yuri is willing to actually explore relationships and is more willing to try new things than the hetero shows

It's completely schizophrenic. I would not watch it for the "character development", even if I admit that Ange is quite successful in becoming a militant bastard (a fairly endearing bastard, truth be told) but.... you watch it for the schizo.

Every single detail feels like a shitpost. The setup is a shitpost. The main villain is a glorious shitpost. Stealing from a old review I read somewhere, the entirety of CrossAnge is "lesbians" "dragons" and "murder" almost randomly put together until they drop the most ineffective male love interest you have ever seen in a Sunrise series. Then it's lesbians, dragons, murder and hentai plots.

It's such a shitpost that you have the previews taking the piss out of the episode that just aired, completely unexplained survivals and completely puzzling details (CrossAnge is the anime that has a well-written excuse letter by the protagonist, a joke that is shown on-video for a second, while the names on the tombstones of Lesbian Gulag are randomly typed gibberish).

Of all the bad media I've seen, Ange is one of the best train-wrecks.

Cross Ange is amazing. It's a hilariously entertaining show that I couldn't put down when I started watching it. Is it great fiction? No, it has a lot of issues, but it's peak entertainment and Ange is unironically one of the greatest leads out there. You're watching the show for her whether you know it or not.

Yuri allows the girls to "stay pure" but it's still rare to be legitimately lesbians rather than a "phase" the women are expected to grow out of. It's the western fans that take those relationships seriously for coomer reasons.
