Food war guys have a new manga about movies and while I do not trust them after that final arc, this little jab they put in got a small chuckle.

Animebros, not like this.

Does ResetERA have a thread discussing Heavenly Delusion? The amount of gloating that must go on over there about this, combined with the uncle in Skip and Loafer that is a MTF which is also airing this season, it must be like Christmas for them, and the chimpout that will follow once the next episode of Heavenly Delusion comes out next week has to be pretty entertaining to watch.

I like how the character still has the Adam's apple and pronounced SCM muscle. :story: The MC does say "kyoudai" in the anime, though, to avoid saying "otouto", and it's bullshit a real woman plays him with her normal voice, though. Maybe the anime will bomb in Japan lol.

I watched the first two episodes of Hells Paradise. They were pretty good. Pretty accurate to the manga. Which is expected of MAPPA. Also, As someone who was a fan of the manga I'm happy they did not shy away from showing the brutality of how Gabimaru kills. Was nice to see they kept all the throat ripping in lol

I've never read Food Wars but any time someone mentions a bad final arc, I have to know. What's the short version (keeping in mind I've never heard of Food Wars)?

Didn't the author intentionally rush or even outright sabotage the final arc in response to being micromanaged by his producer?

For example the MTF, Isabella Yamamoto, in Paradise Kiss is also voiced by a woman in the anime
Has that high-pitched voice, too, but a lot of troons have that kind of "airy" voice, and it looks like Yamamoto doesn't talk a lot to begin with. Interestingly, Mari Devon has a more naturally-deep voice, so she has that subtle gravel that I can see a troon having.

For Nao, the voice-actress is just using her regular voice, it sounds like, and so it just doesn't sound right, which is weird 'cause she's played boys in the past and sounds the part. Least with Alice in Chivalry of a Failed Knight, it's an actual soft-spoken man both Japanese and English.

If you know the meme, they literally did the EL HERMANO idea as a serious final arc.
but if you don't know it, TLDR: MC is reveled to have a "brother" he never knew about, that is a better cook and is trying to get with the main heroine because reasons as well as throwing in some even stupider "cooking methods" and some dark chiefs sub plot.

Kind of, from what I remember they planned to end it in the arc before the last one but there where two major plot points that never got addressed and the writer was kind of cornered into continuing the series until those where dealt with, and lets just say from the spoiler above neither ended up well.
Combined that with the fact the series had its own chef consultant to help with dishes and give the main pair ideas for the food battles (its not a uncommon thing for wsj , iirc they hired a rakugo performer as an adviser for akane banshi), but she ended up leaving for maternity leave and its noticeable how out there the dishes and food prep got without her.

So kind of confused about something. I've been reading this https://aquamanga.com/read/i-ll-be-taking-a-break-for-personal-reasons/chapter-33/ lately and one of the characters is a 19 year old girl in a sort of like college. The MC is basically pretending to be her cousin because she needs a "guardian" to meet with the faculty because she had too many absences. Is this actually a thing in Korea? In most countries colleges are completely different from high school. If you get too many absences they just fail you and move on.

Not gonna lie, my favorite part of that series was how it dished out(lol) legit real-world applicable culinary knowledge. There was another series that did something similar, albeit with less detail and more of a fantastical element, called Crazy Food Truck. It's a bit more bite-sized at only 16 chapters, but it sticks around just long enough to tell a good story with a satisfying ending and reasonably fleshed out characters.

In general I appreciate when a series based around a real world profession and/or hobby demonstrates that it did its research.

I mean that just standard in anime.

As long as character is "feminine enough" in appearance and/or behaviour, they get cast with voice actresses in Japanese. Recap, since both of you may already known.
Supposedly sympathetic character: Yoshida in Horou Musuko, Kikunojo in One Piece, Aoi Futaba in You're under arrest, Seiko in Lovely Complex.
Villain: Jakotsu in Inuyasha, Kamatari in Rurouni Kenshin, Ienaga in Golden Kamuy.

There are few exception, they just have male voice actor for trannies.
Fish Eye in Sailor Moon, Cagliostro in Symphogear, Mariandale in Ixion Saga DT, and Kaoru Hanase in Tamako Market. Though the last one is well kinda ambiguous whether just really effeminate man or full blown tranny.

And yet trannies cry all the time they're not represented in anime enough.

I forgot about this series due to it's scanlators never posting after the 4th chapter on Manga Dex.

For what it's worth, Skip and loafer seems like it's just going to be a comfy anime about a countryside girl getting used to city life. I dunno why the author thought the troon uncle was necessary but if it's just a side character I can deal with it.
