Unless you have some massive media property like DBZ, there is no way creating your own soundtrack will be worth the lack of royalties. It's more likely a combination of not wanting to start multiple contracts where they can be fucked by fine print, as well as being afraid the original opening will drive away potential customers (ie, the same reason why some video games have an edgier cover in the USA version).

It's an anime I loved, but god damn the ending ruined a ton of good will.
 
I've been lately thinking of getting the latest model of Kindle Paperwhite to read mangas and novels in moonrunes. Mainly from my own collection stored in my computer (in cbz and epub formats) although I would like to check if I can buy ebooks off Amazon Japan too, by creating a second account but specifically set in Japan this time. Quick research says the tablet itself isn't region-locked at least.

Nagatoro finished its last episode of the 2nd season and even added a hug not shown in the manga to finish the season off on a high note. We'll see if S3 gets announced

Genuine reminder for those who loved TTGL that the manga that inspired it, Getter Robo, is also fucking awesome, especially starting from Go. The anime OVAs are also pretty fucking sick.

I enjoyed MHA vigilante. After finding it from a Kiwi that recommended reading this, I gotta say it felt refreshing on the underdog hero trope and all the other shit I've put up with reading manga where the hero has shitty powers but turns out it's super OP.
Although I will admit it gets abit bullshit down the line in later chapters some of it dealing with the main character getting plot armor.
But overall I really enjoyed it. Don't like MHA that much but found it to be a nice side story and some more background lore.

That quirkless chad is also part of the reason why Stain came to be. A heroic speech about "conviction" ended up inspiring a bloodthirsty vigilante into becoming one of the key figures that inspired members of the league. Talk about a subversion, and one that's done right. It's a classic hero cliché twisted on its head.

not with the paperwhite, but tbh I'm not a fan of kindle in general. might have changed by now but for the longest time kindles worked the same way as printers - cheap to get you into the amazon ecosystem, and a pain in the ass to deal with if you wanted to do something else. I think some could be rooted, but that's usually outside the average reader.

for manga itself it be worth to take a look around, there's tolino (although that might be yuropoor brand, dunno if and what their name is) and the kobo (which ironically know belong to rakuten) which in some countries is as big, if not bigger, as kindle.
there's also quite a few chink ones based on android.

my best suggestion is to check the nip sphere and see what they use, especially if you want to buy off amazon (although rakuten or another shop might sell the ebooks as well). then check size and price - since most of them aren't as heavily subsidized as the kindle they will be more expensive tho.

I finished UBW, loved it, and then after some slight debate, jumped my ass straight into Deen. I am going to be compairing the two. Story wise, Deen stay night feels good, if not clunky, UBW had hindsight and was way smoother, though i will give credit, Deen was very clear about the magic system. Charecters still felt fine, Saber was still Saber, so was everyone else. What made the whole show very 2006, Yu-gi-oh levels of goofy, laughing my ass off, was the animation. Gratuituous use of camera angles, the tone of the animation being a lot lighter, than UBW-story wise too-, insertion of scenes that were engaging in a video game but boring in a show, and then just random scenes where clearly someone had fallen asleep and the clown meter went off the chart. That said, i still enjoyed it. I would like a remake, but it is FUNCTIONAL for the Saber route. I did laugh several times, and even then, it was still gripping. I can see why people got into fate from this show, and i can also see why people write it off. Personally it's just split down the middle for me. I'd rewatch it during a Fate marathon, maybe if i'm REALLY bored, but that's about it if and until Ufotable gives us a remake.

I'm also trying to get into some of the 70s/80s space operas that it influenced a lot. I'm going to try to get around to Captain Harlock and Yamato this year. Gurren Lagann is just a gigantic celebration of old super robot/space opera anime.

The system is clear in fate because it is the introduction to all we see before, it is made for all newbies to understand what is going on and later routes adds or show stuff in different light, something that UBW anime had to still do it since the foundation wasnt set.

And I think as an adaptation, it is ok, not because the anime itself is bad but because the original route (fate) isnt that interesting, it is a simple story (my favorite fate adaptation is the manga since it fuses fate and ubw with sparkles of HF. Making more interesting middle.

And the tone of it is closer to the VN than UBW, the comedy bits and the action are closer ti the original than the explosive and flashy UBW or HF.

What I really dont like is the music.

It just doesnt fit. You have this whole show being as 00's as it gets in the animation, art style and then the music is... To epic and grandiose. There isnt that electronic feeling of the visual novel, that repetitive beats that makes you feel at home by how much you hear.

Both fate and ubw movie music doesnt fit into the whole project. I really like UBW series soundtrack, fukusawa really understood how to adapt keita haga music into it, even more than HF's yuki kajiura that feels a retread of Knk and zero soundtrack.

It is really funny to see how FGO still has the same team working right now when they released Tsukihime back then. And to see how all of them evolved.

The man is on fire to this day, FGO lostbelt 7 was amazing in all levels, the music is fucking awesome

I've heard another theory about dubs having original music: That its to help cover the edits. Original soundtrack means there will be noticable gaps where your ears will pick up when the music was cut, but if they put new music over it, no problem.

That or they genuinely thought the new music would appeal more to western audiences. Which lets me honest... sometimes they're right. Probably Unpopular Opinion but DIC's music for Sailor Moon honestly fits the show way more than the generic anime sounding music of the original. And look at how many DBZ fans actually prefer Faulconer's music. I myself prefer Kikuchi but Faulconer's has reached that point where its nostalgic.

Speaking of which, recently I was hit with a desire to watch DBZ Toonami airings I found on Archive.org (I selected a random episode and it turned out to be near the end of the Cell Games), and it led to a wave of me wanting to look at other toonami-era anime, some of which I watched, most I didn't or was only vaguely aware of--you know, stuff like Big O and Outlaw Star (the latter I've shockingly never seen).

Two episodes into Big O, I keep noticing something about its main man Roger the Negotiator.... Does anyone but me look at this guy and keep expecting him to point and shout "objection!"?
