I’ve just read the latest chapter of Boy‘s Abyss and…

Well…

I've started reading Slam Dunk. I'm currently at vol 7 (of the most recent edition) and after almost 2000 pages of story I still don't know if Hanamichi has a family. Does he have parents, siblings, or he's an orphan? Does he even have a house? Or he just lives on campus, is he a creature that can only manifest itself inside an educational institution? A mystery that has still to be solved...

Edit: typos

So... it's finally happened. I've dove into Fate.

Fate Zero fucking slaps, even the CGI looks great, especially that F-15/Gilgamesh fight, i was absolutely enthralled by that. If someone had told me they were packing that kind of shit into fate, I would have started this journey a lot sooner. And all of this was done in 2011-2012. Holy shitteru. I could list all my favorite moments, Excalibur taking out Caster being the highlight, but we'd be here all day. I've started Unlimited Blade Works, on episode 3, and already I'm noticing things from Zero, and honestly, I'm really having fun with that.

Fate is pretty cool. I wish there was a good version of Seiba+Shirou+Rin vs Herc from Fate (the 'Saber route' from the VN) animated. It's easily the hypest thing I've ever read, with the mood massively enhanced by The Legend Revived. Seeing the Saber Alter vs Herc fight in the Heavens Feel movies has me extremely hopeful that if Ufotable ever tackles the Fate route they'll do it justice. Salter vs Herc wasn't much of a fight in the VN but they bulked it out with a bunch of awesome nonsense spectacle for the movie and I really loved it. The Deen version of SSRvH just had me tilting my head and saying 'Wat."

I haven't watched it but I heard the Deen version also does the Archer v Herc fight that's just off-screened in the VN in favor of Shirou, Rin, and Saber having a threesome in a crack-shack they found in the woods. That'd probably be a fantastic fight for Ufotable as well.

I am looking forward to the Heavens Feel movies, I'm barely into UBW and already it's hype. It's explained things pretty well, picks up off from Fate Zero nicely, lots of callbacks, like Lancer wanting to kick the shit out of Saber because of last time; honestly this has lived up to the hype. I will watch Deen when I get to it, if only for the famous line:

If you want famous lines you should definitely read the VN

I'd argue the first line is even better than the highlighted one, "Her lewdness is a great nightmare"

Aside from Heavens Feel all of the sex scenes are among the greatest funny-bad moments in any media you could ever hope to find. Each one had me laughing so hard I was crying. The Heavens Feel ones are more 'appropriate' because there's actually a plot reason for them. The rest, if I'm not mistaken, were written by the illustrator who primarily did artwork for eroge

So I happened to be watching a video on Japanese cyberpunk, and it mentioned an anime called Kaiji - which Squid Game was based off of.

This was news to me, so I'm going to check it out. Is this another case of Korea ripping off Japan because they can't create anything original on their own?

The funniest part about the sex scenes outside the Heaven's Feel ones is that they were phoned in by Nasu just because he was talked into it due to how porn sells well, that's why when FSN became a more successful franchise, there was a re-release that could just turn off the sex scenes.

It's more that the creator of Squid game openly admitted to being inspired by Kaiji for his series, but Kaiji is completely different than Squid game as the games in Squid game are deliberately very simple so the characters and social commentary could be the focus while Kaiji's games are more complicated in comparison which is fun in its own way.

I love this incredibly stupid autist

I thought it was based on Battle Royale. Speaking of which, a few years ago they made a manhwa about swimming which looks like a Korean equivalent to Free!

Which got adapted into a live action movie.

How many men cry in it? That seems to be the MO for Korean men.
They are mostly giant pussies

This technically belongs in the Korean thread, but I remember a certain thing a Korean-American homie once told me when I said I really liked K-Dramas.

"You know why they're so good bro? It's because because they are the most spiteful & rageful, yet also envious & coveting people you will ever meet."

Funnily enough, these things are important cores for a revenge. On top of the younger men being absolute pussies in real situations, they're just pretty fucked up when given the chance. I remember watching a great K-Drama called Signal, & it's basically a supernatural story with IRL fucked up crimes (mainly serial killings) in Korea.

Plus, they got fucked over by Japanese, then Americans a lot, so yeah, it's a cope of sorts. They bitch about Japanese in every show so much it's almost funny.

Also, this is a bit unrelated, but their women don't hate their guys, but they also rarely like their guys in comparison to others. Hell, if you're white/pale-skinned & don't look like a troglodyte, you can almost get any girl in Korea. I've personally tried this in very short (3 days) Japan trip, this works so well, it's unreal.

So yeah, you can guess the absolute state of a Korean guy.

Not sure, not much updates on the manhwa. I remember all the comparisons to Free back then. Here's the trailer though:
And
The Australian team sounds way too American. "White chocolate" is an insult for Aussies?

Death game/gambling stories were a niche subgenre before Kaiji and they're still around, though iirc a lot of the games are fairly similar between the two.

The VN seems hilarious, I'm just not good at finishing games anymore :( . On that I got to ep 4 of the second half of UBW yesterday. Archers betrayal was unexpected to say the least lol.
