I saw some cover art of The Promised Neverland (very beautiful) and read it. It started, well, promising, with hyperintelligent (competitive and good at high school math) children in an unfamiliar setting, where they can be justified in handily resolving plots but also have an excuse to not build a tactical nuke in the basement.

I've never seen a series drop so fast and so low. It never stops getting worse and goes full globohomo / Tokyo Ghoul cuckening by the end. I made a note every time something retarded happened and they ended up comprising 8000 words. All the beautiful cover artworks are lies, nothing like that is in the books.

The single worst drop in quality is this:
- they've abandoned a compromised shelter and blew it up with a built-in self-destruct button
- they live in another shelter, which also has a self-destruct button, on a remote no less; a genius girl has it within easy reach
- this shelter is also compromised, they're being invaded and decide to abandon it
- they get out, kill the sole lookout, all the living enemies are inside
- time to push that self-destruct button, no?
- wrong! two guys go in to get ventilated and blow up some gas, lol
- they're eulogized for 5 whole chapters
- these are the only protagonists who die in the story

(But it keeps getting worse with every page. The story ends with the genius children setting Earth up for invasion by a legion of human-eating genestealer demons, and looking back it's the most logical, straightforward, and predictable outcome.)

More like behind.
Remember when they added an Arabic girl in towards the end and named her after Muhammad's child wife? Or when they explained how Earth became a one-world government after a worldwide pandemic and this is supposed to be a good thing? Or how the anime somehow managed to make the story even dumber?

God damn did that series go full retard. I remember reading this shit live and wondering if it could get any worse, and the answer was always yes.

The dub actor for Chad from Bleach has stepped down as he declares he will no longer audition for roles of "people of color."

Naturally, many pointed out that by his logic he should now avoid voicing a large majority of anime characters who are in fact supposed to be Japanese. Thankfully, he can conveniently voice any character who doesn't "self-identify in a specific way."

Not a huge fan of Lupin and only vaguely know about cats eys though city hunter so not that upset that it kinda looks like shit, but the one thing that caught my eye is its being marketed as an Amazon Original which I'm trying to remember if they have actually had a hand in producing something like Netflix and CR or have just bought the exclusive streaming rights and called it an "original".
Doing some digging some sites list the 2019 remake of Blade of the Immortal and a few Shin-chan specials as being producing by amazon studios, but sites like MAL and ANN (yes their shit in terms of the people who write/review for them but there usually OK as just a database) only lists them as the streaming service so it might be another case of the later,

The more you spread love with "diversity" by excluding white people, especially with them loving anime, you start to realize that this is not the own that you think it is.

The people that claim to want to "do better" will end up doing worse once profit margins decrease from the same fanbase that you castigated online for pity points.

Goddamn it, Jamieson, not you, too. (:_(

yuru camp movie premiered yesterday (18th worldwide), and season 3 got announced. more comf incoming.

as for the current season, enjoying the little lies we all tell more than I expected (especially since it pulled one of my favorite jokes right in the first episode starting the credits early)
it's right in the OP so no spoiler: an alien, a ninja, a psychic and a boy end up in a girl's school, hijinks ensue. anyone into absurd/random humor might like it.

I'd say Manga used to be 30 years ahead of the West when it comes to comic books.
just don't lump eurocomics together with burger capeshit

They should've done what was done with the Detective Conan crossovers and kept the Lupin characters in their usual art style, really. I cannot accept Lupin and Zenigata looking like Fire Emblem characters.

Even the recent CGI movie managed to kinda of managed to keep the art style, but to be fairthat was movie and had some money unlike this tv special

Although speaking of shitty CG movies...

I saw the first 13 episodes of Monster. It's pretty nice so far and I am looking forward to more.

I decided to watch it subtitled, only because the dub didn't have subtitles for Japanese text that was untranslated, and a few voices felt off.

New Urusei Yatsura is a weird beast. I was expecting new stories and a modern setting from the opening, but then when the episode starts we're back in the 1980s and adapting the old stories again.

The new versions of the old stories are.. not great. Kind of reminds me of when people trying to make modern Looney Tunes and they don't understand the character beats of the originals. You can't just have Bugs Bunny drop anvils on Elmer Fudd for no reason. There needs to be a reason for the chaos. And here in UY 2022, they just have Lum shock Ataru for no reason constantly. For the comedy to work, you need Ataru to misbehave and Lum to react to it. Lum is an enduring character because she is, at her core, very sweet and naive. She can't just be an angry bitch who is constantly attacking Ataru for no reason because it 1) makes her look like a terrible person, and 2) makes the viewer wonder why she's even in a relationship with Ataru if she's so unreasonable angry with him all the time.

yeah they toned down Atarus perviness. In the original he fucking deserved it for being lecherous. Its still there but definitely toned down
