After years and years of being burnt out on anime and not really finding anything I enjoyed I finally found something I could stand watching more than an episode or two of.

Hamefura is awesome. And I'm late enough to the party to be able to binge.

If @SteelPlatedHeart didn't sell any of you on Isekai Ojisan, then I want to share a portion of it that might. Considering this websites origins, I'm sure you'll appreciate it:

Even after returning to reality, Uncle's obsession with video games, namely Sonic the Hedgehog in this case, leaves him very much detached from reality.

Did he rape his dementia addled, elderly mother? No?

Okay.

abe-san would be proud o7

also for those who like this anime, i can't recommend jashin-chan dropkick enough. it does the same thing with angels and devils but the mc is a piece of shit who gets violently killed every episode. i also love the OP for the first season.

Gabriel Dropout was a classic. Too many animes forget that having assholish characters are what makes jokes work, on the other hand western animation has every character be a massive asshole to the point none of them are endearing or relatable. Wonder why it never got a second season.

And Jashin's first season OP is one of the best openings in how it flows and comedic timing with the music and lyrics. The only competitor I can think of is Kill Me Baby:

Isekai Ojisan is the best

Rewatching some fights from gundam build fighters try

man, this series is much better than the sequel.
Try's got some good fights. And Gyanko, but overall I thought it was weaker than Build Fighters. But, I did at least enjoy try more than Build Divers.

Build Fighters = Build Divers Re:Rise >Build Fighters Try > Build Divers

Assholish characters in anime are often my favorite because of just how mean spirited and funny things can get because of their own self-interests, its probably why i like urusei yatsura and osomatsu san as much as i do. Also I've only seen 2 episodes of Kill Me Baby and Unused Character only showing up in the OP so far is probably the funniest thing ever.

for me it is:
Re:rise > try > divers > fighters
I really like how chill divers episode is, just people enjoying their gundam game for fun, this last episode of try is really all about that: having fun with gunpla.
And then there is fighters with the whole Wuoooo plavksy particles this and that and that shit villain who interfered in all matches. Jesus how I loathe fighters so much.
I even rewatched the last episodes of try and how good it was to see just people competing against each other without any external interference of a fucking magical thief and bullshit particles.

Divers was a bit too relaxed for being as long as it was. 26 episodes with only a bit in the middle and the finale having any real stakes didn't jive with me. It was too meandering. Kinda my same issue with Try. I don't mind smaller scale stuff that doesn't have big implications, but I don't think that works in a 26 episode format. And it doesn't make for a particularly compelling journey to me.

I just read the new chapter of Nagatoro.
That's the cutest thing I've seen in a long time. I needed some wholesome. Going from porn doujinshis to this.... good fucking job.

Edit: was drunk-posting. Carry on.

Gabriel Dropout was one of those manga-based anime adaptations where the anime basically ended within a chapter or two of where the manga was at at the time, so it was going to be a while before a second season could even be made, but, yeah, it's been over five years now so there is enough material for a second season.

The closest thing there has been to a second season so far was a couple of short OVAs (anime original) and a drama CD in the Blu-Ray boxset that introduced Kurona Mei (a clumsy and shy devil girl) to the anime continuity.

Well CR owns another part of the western anime industry.
I thought rightstuf was a decent online distributor so this kind of sucks. Plus iirc they owned 4 different licensing companies so that might also put them under CRs control.

Edit: it has started effecting things since they already announced they will discontinue right stuf's 18+ catalog and move it off site (i.e anything under critical mass) and apparently CR is looking at some rights issues with the dirty pair kickstarter they where working on

A shame, they were at it since 1987.

It's kind of funny to watch /a/nons get triggered by the bromance in Yakuza's guide to babysitting cause they started watching for the little girl.
