Trailer for Bisque Doll came out, ngl it looks pretty nice so far. Its a pretty cute romcom between a dollmaker and a cosplaying gyaru, I'd recommend it.

That being said, I wonder how much of a reaction there's going to be over the main character tanning for a cosplay and only cosplaying the characters she can physically emulate.

I'm pretty sure there are unironic people who cosplay who they can emulate as in a romantic relationship, which is a pretty clear sign of a toxic one if you are going to use your body to emulate other rather than say, accepting your partner for who they are. Reddit is the obvious culprit of such and I expect some users will say something similar to what I said.
 
Currently reading part 6 of Jojo as I would like to start reading part 7 and see why it's held up so high in the fandom. So far though, part 6 is actually pretty interesting. 12 chapters in right now.

It's not really surprising Jotaro ends up doing the same thing his own father did to him and his daughter ends up hating him for that.

caught the English dub of GUP das finale. Its ok... the Original VA cast doesnt sound the same as in the show/der film. they dont have the pep. shark team and the BC freedom are ok. student council sounds closer to the japanese counterparts. which sucks, since kawashima is the focal point of das finale.

the japanese va is engrained in me, so i expected a similar voice direction. the big standout is the pirate talk seems so bizare in english when the japanese sounded more gutter yakuza.

marie doesnt have the doofus turned strategist change like in the jap dub, the english actress keeps the same voice. Marie english retreat order is pretty passive compared to the forceful japanese one.

The onion song is properly french.

finale 2 will be released in nov, i wonder how they'll do Chihatan's song. sentais been good at having their english cast sing in japanese. hopefully their va cast will be the same as well.

the biggest annoyance is that the sentai BD doesnt have the OVA.

e: I think the dub script got funied. yukari shouts "jackie chan" when running through a door and marie says "let them eat cake" for no reason.

So, I decided to watch the Chimera Ant arc of Hunter x Hunter again. Been years since I had watched it.

Except I decided to watch watch it in English dub this time. Since I had never heard the English dub of it. And as someone who usually hates English dub most times with very few exceptions.....

I was actually fairly impressed with it. I was especially impressed with Netero's english dub.


So, that was a nice surprise.

I feel like English dubs used to be way more hated than they should have been and that's probably why most of them are actually pretty bad now. Let's be real, most anime nowadays is not taken seriously by the dubbing companies which is sad because some voice actors clearly do give a shit and give extremely good performances that go unappreciated for a ton of different reasons. As someone who grew up thinking Funimation was really cool and full of great people, how it currently is and the people working there are unrecognizable to me.

Also, I feel like since we were still talking about AMVs a page ago, I should bring up the AMV Hell series which I fucking loved back in the day and would still recommend people watch

so i read a manga called asper girl about a girl who suffers from Asperger's who lives with her favorite manga artist (read it, its good) and i found another short manga of a girl who suffers from the same thing called Sazanka.

(It's more noticeable in other pages, but the inconsistency gets to me. There were better panels to showcase this for the (honestly unnecessary) infodump at the end.)

Man I just kinda forgot about the botched Tokyo pop revival they tried to stage and how they spent a bunch of cash buying a tour buss then wrapping it with decals only for all the money to disappear

Because most of the titles that they had seem to now be available and are being picked up by other publishers.

They've released some fun titles recently, though their catalogue heavily targets fujo audience (besides the crap ton of Disney 'manga' they release), I haven't gotten around to picking any of them up physically yet. Personally rather enjoy A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation and Ossan Idol!, not super deep series but fun. They also have Aria which I would love to get if they'd print more.
