Every time I see Midoriya's mom she has tears and snot streaming down her face. I realised Deku took after her, by design or chance. There was a recent chapter where someone he previously rescued called him "My crybaby hero". I couldn't decide whether it was Horikoshi or the english translator trolling the complainers.
Still, I like him. Also, while he's an extreme case, I see male characters in a few manga, anime and japanese films break down and howl. Is it like, the larger than life emotions and manly tears of vikings, riders of Rohan and things, from before the west decided crying was for girls?
That probably is the case, and he's still a good character and his crying is understandable since he's a teenager. It's not like Tokyo Revengers where the MC is a grown ass man crying every 5 seconds and the entire cast sucks his dick for it.

MHA’s problem is like, reverse flanderization. In the first season Deku is way too much of a crybaby and Bakugo is way, way too much of an asshole bully to the point where him and Deku’s relationship at the beginning is completely nonsensical.

I vaguely keep up with the story second-hand through YouTube videos and while it certainly sounds like it’s going somewhere interesting, I have so many issues with the intro and setup and structure of the early parts that I have zero interest in wading through until it gets god.

Black Clover started off somewhat similar, with Asta being so crazy over-the-top intense that it was like, "what the hell did I just stumble into" on the very first episode. Not to mention pretty much every character shitting on him constantly because of his lack of magic, to the point that I was on his side by default because I felt bad for him. But by the end of the episode, it quelled some of my fears when it showed that Asta and Yuno were still best bros even if they were rivals, so I stuck with it.

And now that the dub's finally finished on Toonami after almost four years, I'm glad I did. I've talked at length about why I enjoy it a lot before, so I won't rehash all that here. However, it says a lot that when most shonen series bore me to tears (I dropped MHA halfway through the second season, I believe), it was able to hold my interest for 170 episodes, I'm looking forward to the movie, and I'm gonna read the manga as well.

The best part was that it didn't really take all that long for me to really start getting into it, and it never really stopped being good, sometimes legitimately subverting my expectations while playing it perfectly straight other times. Even the filler arcs were alright, though the last one did drag out a bit before it got back to the manga again.

So yeah, sad to see it go, but can't wait to see more. I've got a lot of reading to do in the meantime.

I just remember that Guilty Crown was fucking huge, then suddenly became the punchline of a joke that lasted years.
Guilty Crown is one of those shows where I still can't tell whether the community actually likes it or dislikes it, it's like a fucking seesaw that's constantly bouncing up and down.

I remember watching it a few months ago and thinking it was decent up until the last few episodes where it completely shit the bed and had a terrible ending.

If nothing else I love it's soundtrack, especially the OP

It started out nice, but the ending leaves a lot to be desired. It should've had more episodes.

Feels like more people are endeared to it in a similar fashion to shows like Valvrave because whenever it gets randomly brought up on places like /a/ it's usually to share the memes.

So Disney is getting into streaming seasonal anime now.
They announced four series that will be exclusive to Disney+
Black Rock Shooter Downfall
Summer Time Rendering
Yojohan Time Machine Blues
And Twisted-Wonderland.

They might be in for a rough time since I heard they were caught off guard with how many people pirated visions and vainly tried to send cease and desist orders to nyaa and some of its users.

Yay, more western companies kicking the anime industry's door in because it's started making more money, can't wait for disney's exclusive high guardian spice calarts trash.

I can't believe that aired a decade ago. To this day it's my go-to for "this show fucking sucks" which is too bad since it started off with some interesting ideas and hope that it would get better. I have no idea why I even sat through the whole thing since it was obvious by halfway through that it wasn't going to get much better. It's definitely memorable to me unlike a lot of other bad shows since they genuinely tried but I wouldn't call it a trainwreck since it's not even fun to watch, it's just painful.

Now Valvrave the Liberator, that one's a real trainwreck, it's the sort of stupid I can get behind and feel like I should rewatch to relive that stupid.

Then those two were supplanted by the abomination known as Franxx. Goes to show that the anime industry hasn't changed even in 10 years when it comes to trainwrecks and awful stories.

Disney underestimated the Western anime fandom. I'm happy to see them fail in that regard.

But this actually isn't Disney's first foray into the world of anime. Before Tsun-Tsun shorts were made, they did Fireball through their Japanese animation subdivision a decade ago, a series of shorts involving a pair of robots making rapid word plays while talking about their plans to rule the world. It's pretty fun.

I think the funniest thing about School Days is the main character's friend who gets away scot free after raping what's her face. Why didn't she stab him instead after going yandere mode?

And that's just in the anime, in the VN he does much more and still gets away. In one ending he manages to get both of the main girls pregnant alongside his own girlfriend and he still gets to live a happy life in the end while Makoto is dead.

Wasn't there first foray into anime their partnership with Ghibli? I know things went south somewhere and Gkids has most of the rights in the us but I think the mouse might still have some distribution rights for physical copies.

Twisted Wonderland is understandable since it was Disney to start with, but these two are weird to me. Especially Summertime Rendering, its basically Invasion of the Bodysnatchers on an island plus time looping and it's more violent then what I would expect for a Disney property.

Disney knows what they're licensing right?

Like others have pointed out. Disney has tried somewhat to get into distributing anime before. It has always just blown up in their face and failed tho.

I suspect this time will be no different. As it really seems like they just grabbed whatever anime’s they could get without looking into them too much.

I swear to god, this is gonna be Interspecies Reviewers all over again.
