Nigga, that art style fits the story better than the art from the manga lol
I actually tried reading the manga from where the anime left off and dropped it because the tone just wasn't as freaky.

I've hated it and said it looked like shit since the first trailer, you can tell just from the way the art looks that the animation is going to be garbo since shit like this never moves smoothly. The characters are completely expressionless too, 100% of the manga's personality has been sucked out of this adaptation and people are probably going to think Shaman King is just shit because of it when imo, it has some of the coolest concepts and character arcs in all of Shonen. Of course that's partially due to extreme bias on my end but I don't think if the same people who hate this anime read the manga first, they'd think it's bad.
The character design reflects the new Takei artstyle rather than his early.

Are there anime relationships that are as heartwarming and sweet as Renge and Candy Store?

Landlady and Jahy on Jahy-sama wa Kujikenai have a surprisingly similar relationship when Landlady isn't wrestling Jahy to get her to pay her rent.

Of course, unlike Renge, Jahy also has an adult form so she can go drinking with Landlady the way Kazuho does with Kaede/Candy Store.

In the latest chapter of the manga, Jahy wants to quit Izakaya Maou to start her own restaurant but Landlady is the one who seems the most melancholy about Jahy's idea to leave.

kakegurui 88.5 is out. there's a lot of half chapters lately and it's just dragging out the plot. i'm guessing the author needs time to come up with a nifty way to cheat or even wrap up the current plot.

I sort of realized that when I went to the book store and saw the new redrawn covers of the Shaman King manga and how fucking terrible they look. How does Takei look at his old style compared to his new one and see nothing wrong? It's worse than Hiro Mashima's change in art style.

kakegurui does for faces what jojo does for poses tho.
Kaiji begs to differ lmao

I thought of another manga with an anime adaptation featuring that kind of relationship: Flying Witch has witch sisters Makoto and Akane Kowata who act like both older sisters and mentors to their distant cousin Chinatsu Kuramoto.

It's not exactly the same as Kaede and Renge since neither Kowata sister is particularly tsundere like Kaede (and also because Renge isn't training to be a witch or, if she is, I missed that chapter) but it's still similar in that they're older sister-like figures who are very supportive of a younger girl.

Finally finished Urusei Yatsura Perfect Collection vol. 11. It definitely smacks of latter run Takahashi. The art's getting loose to the point where it becomes hard to tell the characters apart during chaotic fight scenes. This isn't helped by the fact that, in addition to Mendo, Shinobu and Ataru, she added another two characters with short black hair--Ryuunosuke and Ran--to the mix.

The stories are still good, but it definitely feels like a step down from what came before.

Highlight of the volume: Ran and Benten's fight in the park.

I've been watching some of Hell Girl lately, and I'm really liking it. I generally like Japanese horror because they do things rather differently than the West, where horror has been utter shit lately. Very interesting tone, and some pretty kino art direction.
Speaking of horror, I've been catching up with Franken Fran Frantic and holy Jesus the chapter where she mutilates dogs and turns them into beds that kids ride in was a special kind of disturbing. Loving the series still, you never know what the hell is going to happen but you know it'll be weird

Might be early, but tomorrow will officially be nine years after SKET Dance concluded their show on the airwaves of Japanese television

It may not be Gintama, but to me, it’s still memorable.

Well Dr. Stone is apparently in it's final arc/part so the series will likely end in about 50-100 chapters or so given what's currently happening which is building a rocket and stopping the source of petrification.

caught up to boruto's english dub. to the farmer who said naruto grows on you, thats definitely true. jiraya's death is a great story. but it takes forever to get there.

id have to say shippuden is the most fun, followed by boruto and then Naruto. shippuden's grimdark world is balanced by boruto's easy going "what to do with peace". Naruto exists to set the stage as boring as it is in comparison to the sequels.

but like all ensable tv shows, there's always interesting secondary characters that dont get enough screen time like team 25 from boruto. the concept of a defensive recon team is neato.
